---- Wintergreen had quickly found her way to the listings of the winglets posted in the cave, after arriving a bit late. Jade Winglet! The Icewing shivered a bit with the realization that she was in the same winglet that Moonwatcher, Qibli, Prince Turtle, Kinkajou, and of course, Prince Winter had been in. Her clawmates were named Venus, Rose, and Quickbeat. A...Silkwing or a Nightwing, perhaps, along with maybe a Rainwing or another Silkwing? She wasn't sure what tribe Quickbeat might be from; the name didn't sound like any particular tribe. Following the map underneath the list, the Icewing made her way to her cave. Wintergreen stepped inside and saw the most beautiful dragonet she'd ever seen in her life. The stranger had deep blue and purple scales, covered all over with touches of brown, orange, pink, and white, making it look like a galaxy lived in her scales. "Hey there, I- Woooooahhhhhhh," came her greeting as she took the dragonet in. Although Wintergreen had studied the other tribes, she hadn't thought to study hybrids before. Which clawmate of hers was this? Probably not Quickbeat...ah. Venus, of course - named after a planet, she looked as though she actually did come from the cosmos. She felt unbelievably boring with her icy blue, white, and pale green coloring. Most Icewings looked pretty similar. "Uh. I'm Wintergreen," she introduced herself. This stranger must be at least part Rainwing - she remembered that they were considered the prettiest dragon tribes. "I'm, er, I'm in your winglet." ---- Sandpiper pressed himself close to his parents. His mother, Seaspray, gave him a big hug with her sky blue wings. "You be good now," she reminded him. "And mind your tail," his father, Warbler, added, making sure to keep his own tail barb coiled tightly away from other dragons. Sandpiper squiggled away from the two of them, nodding eagerly. "I know, I know." His parents smiled back at him before lifting off. "Goodbye!" He felt a pang of loneliness watching the dragons fly away. He knew he'd miss the two of them, and his young sister, Reef, but he also knew he was about to have a LOT of fun. Looking around, Sandpiper watched a very bright red dragon race over to a Nightwing, and had to do a double take. The red dragon looked like a Skywing at first glance, but he had a black underbelly and other black splotches across his wings. Pleased to see another hybrid, he slid past the two of them and trotted farther into the caves. Picking one at random, he poked his head in to find a rather bored looking Nightwing and a pretty white-ish dragon who looked like she might be a Silkwing. "Hello," Sandpiper said, grinning at them. "Sorry to bother you. Just exploring." [Read more] |

---- Greenpaw was almost startled by Shellpaw's response. Even though it had been a pretty basic greeting, she was quite used to being widely ignored by cats her age, and she couldn't help a small stab of excitement at the fact that she was finally talking to another apprentice. "I'm glad," she answered eagerly. "I slept pretty-" Greenpaw broke off as she heard her mentor pad up and ask Shellpaw to get his mentor for patrol. Disappointed, she let out a sigh. Well, perhaps they could talk during dawn patrol. Greenpaw nodded, turning her attention fully to Lakeeyes. "Of course," she answered, eager to start the day. ((posted this last time but no response lol)) ---- Sharpkit giggled. "I wouldn't mind that! It would be like being a 'paw!" He trotted out of the nursery, following closely in her pawsteps. He snuggled close to her forepaw as he glanced back at the den. While he wasn't too nervous as long as Muddybird was here, the kit always felt better with his sister by his side. "Raccoonkit! Come out with me," he called back softly, huddling closer to his mother. Moving his attention back to the clearing, he gasped as he saw Sparrowstar, ducking shyly under Muddybird's fur. While he respected the leader, he was, admittedly, a bit scared of her. ---- Fleetflame felt a rush of pride at Mudpaw's calm demeanor. While he knew that any apprentice would be nervous at the aspect of teaching, he knew that the tom was most confident in his hunting skills. And perhaps this would help Mudpaw make a friend - a friend that wouldn't bully him the second she saw him. "Good morning, you two," the warrior greeted warmly. "Pineblaze, if I could just work out a few details with you before we go?" Besides wanting to figure out a location, tactic for training, and length of the training, he also wanted the apprentices to get acquainted before they set off. Drawing the medicine cat aside, he gave her a smile. "How is Darkpaw getting on? She seems almost as nervous as Mudpaw sometimes." Pineblaze snorted. "I agree with you there. She's as anxious as a fox in a fit sometimes - but she's underestimating herself." With a glance back behind her, she purred. "She seems pretty enthusiastic about this, though. I think she'll have fun once she loosens up." Fleetflame nodded, flicking his tail. "True. I think Mudpaw will be the same way." ---- Darkpaw almost gasped when her mentor turned and left her alone with Mudpaw. She wasn't used to talking to other apprentices, and while the orange tom wasn't as aggravating or complicated as her brother, she still didn't know him that well. "Uh..hi," she started, awkwardly shuffling her paws. "Oh! Um, I'm really sorry about my brother. Brushpaw always acts like he has burrs in his pelt. It's not your fault," Darkpaw blurted out, remembering how awful Brushpaw usually was to the poor tom. "I promise I'm not like that," the medicine apprentice mewed sincerely, giving Mudpaw a shy smile. [Read more] |

Well, perhaps they could talk during dawn patrol. Greenpaw nodded, turning her attention fully to Lakeeyes. "Of course," she answered, eager to start the day. ---- Sharpkit smiled and bounced over to Muddybird. "Yeah!" He turned and raced back to his sister. "Raccoonkit, c'mon! Let's go play, let's play!" The warmth of the morning sun was filling the young tom with an unusual amount of energy, shown by the restlessness of his paws as he hopped around enthusiastically. "Do you think one of the apprentices would teach us something cool, Muddybird?" ---- Fleetflame tried very hard not to roll his eyes at Brushpaw's impertinence, and simply pointed the young tom in the direction that Webstem was pacing. "Actually, I think she's looking for you," he mewed, turning his attention to Mudpaw. The warrior was pleased by the happy glow in his apprentice's eyes after receiving praise, and he held back a grin, knowing what he had planned for the day. "Well," he mewed in response to Mudpaw's question, "I was thinking we'd do a bit of hunting today." Fleetflame stretched a bit, glancing around for two other cats. Finally spotting them, he waved them over with a swish of his tail. "But today, you're going to be helping me teach," he purred. ---- Darkpaw gasped. "Hunting?! I get to learn how to hunt?" Usually, the she-cat would be intimidated by a new task - one more thing to stress out about - but she couldn't help but to feel a burst of excitement at the mention of learning a warrior skill. "That's right," Pineblaze purred, deftly using a claw to stick a borage leaf back into the store. "Falconstar decided that it made perfect sense for us medicine cats to be able to take care of themselves if need be, so today we're learning hunting. Well," the older cat amended, "I already know the basics, so it's more you that will be learning. Fleetflame and his apprentice will be training you today." Pineblaze, finished with her tidying, trotted out of the medicine den. "Don't be a slow snail! Let's get to it!" Darkpaw giggled at her mentor's silly idiom before padding after her, much more eagerly than she usually would. This could actually be very fun! [Read more] |

---- Greenpaw darted back as two fuzzy blurs raced past her whiskers, and she stifled a purr of amusement when a few warriors, probably not quite awake yet, weren't as quick as she had been. Shaking her head at the antics of Pikekit and Milkkit, she debated whether or not to wake her mentor. It was a bit early still, she reasoned, so she should be able to wait a little. Glancing around the camp, she looked for some cat to talk to, and her gaze landed on her denmate, Shellpaw. He was awake, watching the kits barrel around camp as well - that was a good starting point for conversation. Her decision made, Greenpaw padded over to the young tom and twitched her whiskers at Pikekit and Milkkit. "I wish I had that much energy in the morning," she mewed, rolling her eyes just slightly. "Did you sleep well?" ---- Sharpkit snuggled up against his sister as he felt himself waking. With a yawn, he blinked his eyes open to see his mother, Muddybird gently nudging Raccoonkit next to him. With a smile, he pushed against the reeds in his nest to press his muzzle into his mother's fur. "Good morning, mama," he said, drawing back to begin smoothing down his brown and cream fur, which was sticking up all over the place. Sharpkit wondered how early it was, since the nursery didn't get much natural light - after all, it was tightly woven to keep out anything that might try to drip or crawl or fall into the den. ---- Fleetflame frowned as he watched first a grumpy-looking Brushpaw, then a fairly upset-looking Mudpaw pad out of the apprentice's den. Much as he wished his anxious apprentice would stand up to the arrogant black-furred tom, he also wished that Brushpaw would drop the attitude. He sighed. Well, wishing catches no prey, he reasoned, padding over to the younger toms. "Good morning, you two. I hope you slept well." Fleetflame gave a kind smile to Mudpaw, figuring the poor 'paw ought to have some more positive reinforcement. "You certainly deserved it after the work you put in yesterday." He wasn't just being generous, either; Mudpaw had worked his tail off through nearly moonhigh helping to repair part of the elder's den that had a branch fall on it so that the elders wouldn't get wet overnight. Needless to say, he was proud of his charge. [Read more] |
