Kubo AtsushiHe was about to die. For a moment, he cursed his own stupidity as images from his life bounced around his mind. The first time he held Kaoru's hand. The night in the hospital where he watched his mother's heartbeat still on the machine. A storm cellar embedded into the side of a wood church, Amai saying "you're my best friend, Kubo", Kaoru in tears, Lucian smiling, Lucian crying, everyone dying, dying- Then the rope pulled taut and he gasped, noise strangled out of his throat. For a moment, he just dangled there, struggling to breathe. [Read more] |

Andreja Buivis"Your hat, huh?" Andreja pondered for a second. "How about... no? I really think it fits me better. Don't you think I look dashing in this?" She lifted it just slightly off her head and tipped it. "M'lady." Replacing it, she shot Walty a grin. "I look twice the Detective you are... oh wait! I am! Haha, stupid intern." Adrik Volkov"Buckaroonies?" Adrik echoed. "I'm not sure I've heard of that currency. Is bucks shorthand for it?" He frowned to himself. "It must be foreign. Is that what the Chinese Federation uses?" That wasn't quite right. The word had a Western feel to it. Possibly buckaroonies belonged to- wait hold up. Was Aleks messing with him? Adrik squinted hard. "Did you just make that up?" Jace Mawer (Nora)Hmm, candy. The food of the gods. Nora caught it and popped it into her mouth, mmming her content. Honestly, it reminded her of the old days, back when she was a kid and this was what she'd lived for. Back when she hadn't been a "she", nor Nora, or even Jace. Back when she'd thought everyone would love her no matter what. Fool's gold. You couldn't accept anything that was too good. You'd end up burned. As subtly as she could manage, she brought up a tissue to her mouth and coughed, then moved the tissue and candy into her pocket. The sickly sweet taste danced on her tongue and made her dizzy- she wanted more, but tamped down the urge. Indulgence was dangerous. You could never do too little. "Anyway," she said cheerfully, clicking her tongue. "I volunteer Monopoly! It's an old game, so you know SDC will like it, and it's also evil meaning... yeah! Everyone else too!" [Read more] |

Jace Mawer (Nora)"Aha, maybe." Nora brushed her hair to the side awkwardly and twisted around to survey the corridor. "Very true, but there's nothing wrong with keeping an eye out, huh?" She hated how condescending Stella was. "Energetic one" and "distract yourself"- it was the same tone someone might use when describing an overenthusiastic toddler. They couldn't take it- it made their skin itch. For all her talk about the importance of being underestimated, she found that it was hard to deal with when talking to Stella. For some reason, the old lady just had a way of getting on her nerves. Or something. Haha, what did Nora know? [Read more] |

Jace Mawer (Nora)Nora stared at Stella for a hot minute, then felt a grin spread over her face. "Wow. Ice cold. Well done, SDC. You pass the cool old person test." Laughing a bit to herself, Nora leaned back in her chair. "In all seriousness though, guys... I am kinda worried. It's not like us to not attract trouble, you know? And a train's kinda bad for that. It's not like we can jump out the window if things go south. I'm no James Bond, and even if I was, I couldn't take the road rash." It was funny, but the idea was not. Nora didn't like being contained. And here she felt trapped, controlled- if anything happened, she could easily be thrown onto the train tracks. [Read more] |

Niwa AtsushiThey were being followed. Niwa wasn't sure how obvious it was to his colleagues, because it was kinda a him-thing... but the person was clearly coming after them. Besides, even if it wasn't obvious, he could pretend it was because these were interns so- oh my gosh too much logic time to pull to a stop. "Hold on," he whispered. "Someone's following us. Should we call out to them, or do we want to lay a trap?" Probably a bad idea to tell a teenager to call out to a potentially dangerous and murderous criminal, but... hey, who ever said I make good choices? And anyway, the person was definitely a kid. The way they moved reminded him of a kicked puppy- skittish and curious, but there was nothing overtly threatening. They kept away from the dark alleys too. More likely than not, they were some homeless teenager following a group of humans, praying their acclaimed empathy might provide a free meal So he should definitely feed them. He was good, he was empathetic, so this was his calling right here. Licking his dry lips, Niwa called out, "Hey, um- kid. Do you want to come with us? We're going to a breakfast place... and we've got money..." He trailed off. Wow. Shouting 'we've got money' into a deserted street on the bad side of town. I'm really bad at this, aren't I? Jace Mawer (Nora)"What about my troubles for listening to that dumb stuff?" Nora pouted. "Come on, even you gotta admit this might be the most boring trip of all time. So far we've talked about college and skipping out on drinking nights. We need to liven this up before the gods decide to do some train-murder thingy." She wrinkled her nose. "Like seriously. Four detectives in a single room on a train going a hundred-something kilometres an hour? We're asking for the conductor to get murdered at this point. You know the trope guys, don't tempt fate." Kubo Atsushi"Alright." Kubo released a shaky breath. It felt like a whole weight had left his shoulders. He no longer had his knife, his way of defending himself, the power which made him different from the other Ultimates. And it was... nice. Just like anyone else. Maybe it'd be his death, but that feeling of just being the same for once... He hadn't felt it in so long. It hurt, but in a good way. I can be normal. I don't have to be anyone or anything. There's no longer any need to prove myself. No longer the Ultimate Detective. It was a relief. He could fail and it wouldn't matter. Just seeing his knife, his way of protecting himself, that identity tucked away in Shi's pocket... He'd given up more than a knife. He'd given up himself, the Kubo he'd tried to be for so long. Maybe the Killing Game's messed me up more than I thought and I sound absolutely insane right now. But who the hell cares. If I can find normality by being a target for murder then so be it. "Well, if I die, prepare a good funeral for me," he said abruptly. "Candles and all that sh*t. I want you guys going all out." Kubo stood over the edge of the pit. It was an endless black void, ready to swallow him up. This could be the moment he died... and all this would be pointless. Not pointless. Death doesn't make me a good person or a bad person. Who I am when I die is who I am. There'll be no equaliser if I'm a splattered mess of guts on the ground in twenty seconds from now. If I'm going to die, it'll be as someone who deserved Kaoru. Who deserved Mei, Idris, and f*ck, even Miyako. And Lucian. He looked for Kaoru's eyes one last time, and the amber glow pierced his. She stood at the very edge, hand reached out to take his. Beckoning. And he leapt for it. And he accepted the blackness into his arms as he plummeted downwards. [Read more] |

Jace Mawer (Nora)"Boooooringggg," Nora moaned. She dropped down on the table. "You got me all worked up for nothing, Bura. How could you do that to your trusted colleague?" She shook her head. "We can't pass the next hour like this. We gotta find something to do. Something interesting." She looked up with narrowed eyes. "The first person to suggest cards dies. I refuse to touch old people stuff. Absolutely disgusting." But... "But anything else is on the table." She gave the table a cheerful thump with her hand. "Literally! Unless it's Eye-Spy, then it's literally figurative." [Read more] |

Kubo AtsushiRight... right, okay. We've got this. Running a hand through his hair, Kubo heaved a sigh. He accepted the makeshift rope "Can I come with you?" His eyes snapped to Sawyer. Unstable. Dangerous. Violent. He had a whole section in his notebook for each Ultimate. His writings on Sawyer were numerous, and they raced through his mind, already arguing with the words that were coming out of his mouth. "Sure. Right after me work for you?" Can't be much more crazy than me, after all. And besides, I don't think Monokuma wants more than a double murder... probably. So if Darcy's dead and they go crazy, I'm safe. Of course Monokuma wasn't the most dependable of characters, but Kubo seriously doubted the bear wanted him of all people dead. After all, if he was right about the identity of the mastermind... then they'd want him alive until the very end. He could probably stab someone, write a confession note in his own blood, and wake up the next morning with some poor sap like Setsuna or Idris framed. Hm. He should probably get some sleep before he started going down that line of thought. "That okay with you, Shi?" he asked dryly. "And before you ask, no, I don't have any weapons on me and I'm also not stupid enough to stab them when you're here as a witness." Kubo had never really had a read on Shi. Her snarky quips and jokes seemed so unimportant behind Miyako's anger issues. She just always seemed to be in the shadows, supporting the girl. There was something uneasy about her, but he mostly equated that to her overpowering height. He had no doubt she could break his neck if she felt so inclined. Miyako... Looking back on it... There was something so hollow to everything she said. Nothing seemed real with her. She said things and blamed people, but she didn't really. It was as if everything was an act, a play put on for someone. But who, though? Shi? Miyako was a sociopath in training. He knew that for sure. Just one look in her eyes had him on edge. Something held her back, kept her clinging to her fragile 'morals' and more likely than not, it was Shi. Maybe he should be nice to her. She might be the only thing keeping Miyako's knife from his chest. It was probably owed. "Look," he said abruptly. "Just take it." He withdrew the false pen from his pocket and placed it in Shi's hand. "There's a knife in it if you click twice. I promise it's my only stabbing implement. There's no murder happening over here, okay?" Bad call, every bone in his body screamed. They're going to kill you. Both of them are going to kill you, and it'll be with your knife. He told his bones to shut up. He was done relying on intuition. It was time to have a little bit of trust in someone who actually didn't have reason to kill him. Setsuna Jun"E-Everything!" Setsuna planted it in his lap. "It's got all the stuff! The fakeness of the moon landing! The aliens who transmitted it down! And all of it's in French, so it's gotta be real. Sexy French agents collecting stuff gotta be genuine." He laughed a little nervously. "You're also sexy, even though you're not French... just so you know. Not discounting that..." [Read more] |

Jace Mawer (Nora)"Oh? Buraddo?" Nora opened her eyes. "Now that's reeall interesting." Grinning, she sat back up and recrossed her legs, turning to face said Head Detective. I gotta admit, I'm curious. They don't have much in the way of social media. None of the Head Detectives did, really. All of them were kinda weird and anti-social. She doubted old Narcisse even knew what social media was. He probably got his news on the stone tablet every morning. Nora laughed to herself, running her fingertips over a knot in the wood. Really... they're all so mysterious. [Read more] |

![]() [STATUS WINDOW]
Name- Andreja Buivis Age- 18 Gender- Female Sexuality- Bisexual Appearance- Very, very short. Like incredibly short. She has blue hair and an undercut. Dark brown eyes and a mischevious grin. Skin is the colour of sour cream and idk what else you want from me help I'm sleepy. Personality- A playful, mischievous girl with a knack for pranks. She's always making jokes and finding some way or another to screw stuff up. Andreja has a tendency to be a little cruel at times, and her selfish, lackadasical attitude can drive some away, especially since she lacks empathy and has a fascination with the morbid; she cherishes the reactions people give when she says something out of line. While she can make a joke out of almost anything, she dislikes authority and reacts violently when she feels like she is being "controlled". When under this sort of pressure, a colder, more clinical side can come out, and any jokes about cancer thrown on the wayside. Overall, she has very little concern for people outside of entertainment value. When they refute her or challenge her authority in any way, that value is lost and she deals with them accordingly. She might be playful and fun on the surface, but underneath you'll only find selfishness and a love of cruelty. Backstory- In and out of the foster care system. Grew up parented largely by those around her, and due to this, her empathy is somewhat stunted. Kaya and Briar and stuff. Tired. Stats- Strength 3 | Dexterity 4 | Intelligence 3 | Charisma 5 | Luck 8 Inherent Skill- [Parasite] Andreja has the ability to "infect" someone with a reddish mist she can exude upon touching them. The infection won't spread, but she can manipulate it. If she tells it to go to someone's fingers, she can make them give her a high five. If she decides she wants the person she touches to wiggle their ear, no problem. If she decides to manipulate a rib and rip it apart until the splinters and shards are embedded deep into their lungs... Well, she won't do that to her friends, hey? Other- n/a [Read more] |

Jace Mawer (Nora)Ah, Andy, as enigmatic as ever. How delightful. "We should exchange phone numbers." Nora giggled and tilted her head to the side. "Y'need to relax, you know? Gimme your number, I'll invite you drinking some night. Can hang out with the gang." She leaned across the table, resting her chin on her hands, grinning up at them. "I think you'd be really fun. After you got out of your weird zone." Her eyes fluttered shut, and she listened to the sounds of the train around her. The vibrations travelled up their toes and to their head. Dizzy and giddy, they laughed, letting their cheek fall onto the polished wood table. It was warm and the surface trembled beneath their face. It seemed to vibrate in sync with Stella's words. "Potential and competence..." The words tasted weird on her tongue. They sounded like old words. That of a society that didn't exist anymore, that shouldn't exist anymore. Like Femi and his stupid ideals, almost. It rubbed her the wrong way. "You really can't read the mood, SDC." She punctuated it with a laugh, but she didn't think it was very funny. Finally, the fourth member of their party spoke up. She opened her eyes and turned to face them. "Hey, why not? Can't be much worse than my 'giving-up-every-opportunity-I-ever-had-for-some-Detective-dream'... or whatever. I wasn't really paying attention." "Kidding," she stage-whispered at Stella, with a wink. Niwa Atsushi"Alright... I guess it's time to find some breakfast place." Niwa had no idea where to start. He wasn't really a breakfast person and despite being a resident for the past four years, he still didn't really know his way around Trydanfaid. "Any... ideas? It's okay if you don't know. We could just walk around for a bit... feed the ducks. Hit a bakery, maybe." Wow, that's a great way to spend your working hours. Killing the local fowl! He'd read an article on ducks and bread. It was very insightful, but also a major guilt trip for him. He and his sister had spent hours doing just that. He winced and tried to stifle the thought. She didn't matter. None of it mattered. "Well..." He cleared his throat. "Either way, it'll be fine. We just need to find a place to sit down and relax. A cafe works too and there'll definitely be a coffee shop or two downtown." Adrik Volkov"Get over yourself." Adrik snorted, swatting his hand away. "No one actually cares, Aleks." He shot him a glare and turned away, choosing to study the case file rather than his incredibly immature, stupid supervisor. Apparently it was some small time thievery thing. Nothing too bad... just disabled cameras. And a few thousand bucks missing. He had to reread that. What the hell were bucks? Andreja Buivis"Looks like we're on the same case, old man." She laughed. "Oh come on now, don't make that face~ We should start over. Reintroduce ourselves, you know?" She tilted her head to the side, flashing him a grin. "I'm Andreja Buivis." Determined not to let him get away, she snatched up his hand and shook it vigorously. "Investigative Assistant of the Clockwork Detective Agency! Pleased to make your acquaintance, Laurence Wart-on." Kubo AtsushiThat was... a really bad reaction. Okay, Lucian wanted that off the table. So Kubo probably shouldn't bring it up again. But still, his eyes strayed to the endless darkness. He got the sudden sensation that something was waiting for him down there. Kaoru and Mom and everyone. If he just reached in, their fingertips would brush his. He'd take a step forward and fall into their embraces and... they'd take me. Kubo squeezed his eyes shut, fighting back tears. He wasn't sure why he was crying... but just the sudden dizziness. The way everything seemed to overtake him now. The pressing weight of what he was doing, what everything was doing to him. It was stupid but... for a moment he wondered if he checked his wrist, there'd be a pulse. That was a dumb metaphor. He wasn't really dead but... in a way... It felt like every thought in his head was colliding in on itself as he stared into that endless void. Everything he'd ever said or done. And his breath steadied to Kaoru's murmurs and he turned back to Lucian. "Lucian, if Darcy dies down there, it'd be on my head anyway. We don't know who Monokuma would blame for Darcy's death. Me, Shi, Darcy himself-" He shook his head. "We can't afford to make mistakes right now. And besides..." He turned back to the pit, gazing into it. "I think... I'll be okay. Call it intuition, call it God, call it fate- but I feel like I can't die here. Like there's something else I have to do first." Someone I have to take to the Prom tonight. "So it's fine. Don't be dumb, Lucian. I'll be fine. This would be a pretty f*cking stupid way to die." Setsuna JunThey did backflips all the way to some cute setting where they sat drinking hot chocolate and reading conspiracy theorist pamphlets. Setsuna jumped at Sutaraitsu's question. "Oh! Yeah! Just reading about something super cute and cool!" He grinned. "You interested in moon men? I've got lotsa stuff!" [Read more] |

Niwa Atsushi"Of course you're good at it," he assured him. "And even if you aren't, you have me! Niwa Atsushi, your hero of paperwork." He laughed, a little awkwardly. "I'm in charge of the desk a lot. If anyone could save you there... it'd be me. So don't worry, okay?" Adrik Volkov"It's a figure of speech," Adrik seethes through his teeth. God, this man did his very best to get on Adrik's nerves. He swore it was intentional- and you could mark that on his tombstone. Aleksandr is a jerkwad who tormented me into whatever health problem inevitably killed me. Okay maybe he needed sleep. That was a weird train of thought. They left the Agency and continued down the road. "I hope our other partner shows up soon... though I'm not really expecting much, to be honest." He sighed. "Any idea where we can wait for them?" Jace Mawer (Nora)Ah, now that was interesting! For the first time, Nora got the sense this was something Andy genuinely cared about. Rather than a practiced distance, this was a deliberate attempt to keep some big secret close to her chest. The mystery itched at Nora. Profilers were few and far between- getting some insight might be real interesting! But of course she had to share her own history first. Quid pro quo and all that. It really was only fair and it wasn't like Nora had anything to hide after all. "Grew up in the suburbs of the very city they're shipping us off to!" She chirped. "Did a lot of sports, some shopping... knew pretty much everyone in the neighbourhood. Got a rugby scholarship and came down here. Dropped the whole thing after year one and experimented around a bit. Found I liked detective work and I had no problem with the blood and little bone bits, so I stayed on. Was more interesting than college, that's for sure." She grinned toothily. "Got the Atsushi scholarship, actually. Kinda ironic I ended up ditching it for this sh*tshow, huh?' Adrik Volkov"Idiot..." Adrik muttered under his breath, hurrying his pace. "Come on. I don't want to be trapped in here when they inevitably shut the doors. We don't have time to sit around." Niwa AtsushiNiwa came to a stop. "It's not your fault, you know. You were there on time. It was me who was late- I got caught up with other stuff. I came early to the office and all, but-" He shook his head. "Come on. We might not be able to catch this bus, but we can still be productive. Maybe we'll find some nice coffee place downtown, set up our work there and get started on the research aspect. It's always good to be prepared, right?" [Read more] |

Jace Mawer (Nora)It was odd, almost. The look on Andreal's face. Hurt, almost? Had it been something Nora said... or something they didn't say? She's a profiler, Nora reminded herself. It was foolhardy to underestimate her, just because of her naive, young disposition. Even if the girl was putting on a tough act, that didn't make her incompetent. Rather it made her all the more dangerous. Uncomplicated people tended to react more violently. Simple people were volatile people. Assuming Nora had read her right, of course. Femi hadn't been particularly good at reading people either, so whatever he had in that department wouldn't be helping her too much now. Besides, Andy really was so cute! This trip would be fun- she couldn't wait to see how far she could take this. Those disgruntled expressions couldn't be the full range of Andy's anger, surely? Just keep playing, she decided. Have fun with her! Who knows, maybe we'll become friends! Nora's seat was very cushy. She made some nice comments about "wow this feels so good on my butt" and "i'll get my future throne made out of this", but the boredom set in pretty quickly. The car was quiet- the only other passenger was an older woman that was fast asleep. Geez, this really might take a while, huh? Leaning forward with a smile and clasped hands, Nora started in on her new game, "Hey, maybe we should share a bit about ourselves, y'know? Bond a bit! " Adrik VolkovAdrik considered protesting, but he figured "kid" was better than whatever else Aleksandr had brewing in that strange space between his ears. Probably the best nickname he could get, in all honesty, and he wasn't sure he wanted to be called plain old "Adrik" by him. That'd just be wrong. "Okay," he concluded. "We'll go." "Good. Please be quick about it too." Head Detective Michon spun around and moved down the hallway with frightening speed; vanishing through the doorway leading into the Investigative Department. Uneasiness wormed its way through his stomach. "Well..." He cleared his throat. "Any idea where we might find an exit?" Niwa AtsushiSeriously? Why was this kid- Okay. Okay. This was a problem that was still solveable. Even though Niwa was wondering- with a touch of guilt- how this kid got to the Agency in the first place. It was a mean thought, he felt bad, but seriously- weren't there any physicals these days? "Late- um... No! We're not late. Not at all. I've just timed it so we can have breakfast some place. Until our totally planned train for..." he checked the list for the next train. "3PM?" [Read more] |
