No one had been nice enough to talk to her? Kindly? Or offer to help her? Sandpiper suddenly pulled Spiri into a hug. "Of course I'd be nice to you," he replied before releasing her and leaning back. "You really need to meet some better dragons," he added, nudging her playfully. "I think you'd like Possibility. There are lots of hybrids there, and lots of very nice dragons."

Sandpiper was shocked. How could her parents to that to such a wonderful dragon? "I...I'm so sorry," he said softly, opening his wing slightly to brush against her wing. "I can't imagine why they would do that to you. I mean, I think you're wonderful." He gave her a warm smile, letting his wing stay against hers until she decided to break the contact. "I'd love to be friends, if that's okay with you." He tilted his head. "I'd offer to take you to Possibility with me after school ends, but I'm not sure if it would be too warm for you. Is the rainforest too warm?"

Sandpiper let out a soft "oooooh" at Spiri's display of freezesilk. It was an excellent idea to use the silk to heal wounds; it made him wonder if any of his "powers" could be useful for certain things. He shivered a bit at the chill coming from the other dragonet's scales, and he marveled at the way her spikes seemed to shimmer. "Woooah, that's super pretty," Sandpiper commented with a smile. He tilted his head. "Do you live in the Ice Kingdom? Or on Pantala somewhere?"

Sandpiper nodded in response. "Yep! It's kind of weird, with my mom loving water so much and my dad hating it," he elaborated. "But we live in a town called Possibility, and there's a port there, so we live right on the water. That way my dad can have fun in the arid desert climate but my mom can also be in the ocean when she wants to." Sandpiper stepped fully into the room, showing off his odd tail. "I prefer warm water though. Cold water sometimes irritates my scales, especially on my tail." He laughed briefly, then swept a wing over Spiri's back. "That isn't usually a big problem, though," he explained, "because I have the Sandwing power of being really warm all the time." Sandpiper smiled and let her feel the heat from his wing before folding it again. "I have gills, too, although they are way more sensitive than my mom's. Freshwater only." The tan dragon tilted his head. "Anything else you're curious about? Oh, and do you spin silk? Is it the opposite of flamesilk - uh...frostsilk? Um, sorry if that's too many quesitons. And answers. I talk a lot." Sandpiper sheepishly shut up and gave Spiri a chance to respond.

Read my previous post for Firebug.

Wintergreen chuckled a little, amused by Venus's fascination with her. Although, she had to admit she was equally curious about both RainWings and NightWings; IceWings didn't often get the chance to interact with other tribes. "Me neither. And yes, I do have frostbreath. Do you want to see?" Wintergreen gave the other dragonet a bigger smile. She definitely liked Venus a lot, and she was extremely grateful to already be getting along with one of her clawmates. "Oh, and don't feel like you have to stop talking," she added. Wintergreen could practically feel the questions vibrating around in the Night-RainWing's head. "You can talk and ask questions as much as you want, I don't mind at all."

----

Sandpiper perked up. "Oh, cool! Nice to meet you." Spotting the frost that Spiri was sweeping away with her tail, he let out a small gasp. "Are you a hybrid, too? Silkwing and Icewing?" He gave her a warm smile. "That is SO cool! Oh, um, I'm Sandpiper, by the way," he quickly added, walking a step or two into the entrance of the cave so that she could see him better. "Like I said, it's nice to meet you."

Firebug shrugged. "Yeah, that would probably be a good idea after that episode." He turned to Aurora. "Do you know if we're in the same room? If so, maybe you could show me there," he suggested. "I don't really know my way around." The dragonet looked back at the cave system, his apprehension returning. Stone or not, he knew that living underground was going to take some getting used to. He hoped that at least a couple of the caves would be big enough to fly in.

----

Wintergreen smiled bashfully as the other dragonet introduced herself. "Hi there, Venus," she replied, happy that her guess had been correct. She was pleased to see that Venus seemed to be at ease and friendly, and she felt herself relax a bit. "A Nightwing and Rainwing hybrid? I suppose that makes a lot of sense, now that you're united under Queen Glory," Wintergreen said thoughtfully, walking further into the cave. She was surprised to find a bed lined with furs in one corner of the room, much like the one she'd left behind at home in the Ice Kingdom. "Wow, they put a lot of thought into this, didn't they?" Turning back to Venus, she smiled. "I really love your scales. They're so pretty! You look like you just jumped out of the galaxy. I'm just a regular Icewing," Wintergreen added, swishing her tail across the floor, her icy spines clattering softly against the stone. "I think we're in the same winglet."

----

Seeing no reaction from the dragons in the cave, other than the Nightwing darting out and going off by himself, Sandpiper just shrugged and headed deeper into the caves. After wandering for a bit, he found himself at the same cave as before. Sighing, he decided to try his luck again. "Um, hello," he said, poking his head into the cave. "Erm, are you Spiri, by any chance?" Although it had been a random stab, he had a hunch that he was correct. "My name is Sandpiper. I'm, um, bored." The tan dragonet smiled at the seemingly sleepy dragon. "Just had a nap?"

Firebug shook his head. "What a weirdo." He turned back to the other dragonets. "Um. So...now what?" He folded his wings, glancing between Aurora and the other hybrid. "Oh, what's your name, by the way?" Firebug didn't remember getting the golden dragonet's name.

Firebug sighed, relieved that one of the full-grown dragons was finally here. Backing down, he still kept his wings spread to shield the other two dragonets. "Hi Clay. This dragon was threatening to kill us," he answered dryly, glaring at the horrible stranger. Firebug was impressed by how massive the Mudwing seemed, even next to the strange dragon. Clearly, Clay was not to be messed with, no matter how gentle he was.

Firebug snarled and jumped in front of the dragon in hiding. "Leave him alone. You're clearly outnumbered, and there's an animus right here. Good luck winning this fight. And we're clearly drawing attention, so more dragons are probably on their way." He took a threatening step forward. "I'm not afraid of you."

Firebug snorted. "My dreams are already haunted. You won't make much of a difference. And," he growled, showing off his claws, "I'm named Firebug for a reason. You don't want to know how much these hurt." Then it registered. He whipped his head around to face Aurora. "A-Animus magic?!"

Although he was unsettled by the seemingly endless drip of blood from the dragon's mouth, he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. Firebug, while shy and a bit skittish, wasn't a coward. No, no, this stranger wasn't scary to him. Not after...he shuddered. Not after Queen Wasp. In response, Firebug simply stretched his wings out farther and flexed his claws. "I think the "stalker of dreams" title would have belonged to someone else," he growled, remembering the prophecy that a dragon named Moonwatcher had spoken in the past. "And besides, I doubt you're even allowed to be here."

Firebug jumped and spun around, flaring his huge wings and growling. "Who- What are you?" He stepped back, his face contorting with disgust as he took in the dragon's twisted appearance. He noticed the tail barb and the wings, and almost winced. Just great - A Sandwing and Hivewing hybrid. Perfect combination for the worst-tempered dragon in Pantala. And was that - was there blood on the dragon's mouth?! Clearly this stranger was dangerous. Firebug hissed right back, showing off the barbs on his claws. His name was no accident - the dragonet had a poison in the barbs, so that when he struck an enemy, even the tiniest scratch would begin to burn like fire. A real wound would cause even a huge Nightwing a lot of agony. "Don't even think about trying to mess with us."

Firebug jumped as he heard a third voice echo from the entrance to the caves. Peering around Aurora, he spotted the speaker - a golden dragonet with the characteristic Sandwing sail, dark eyes, and stocky build. However, true to her description, he could see two sets of wings on her back, thin and shimmery just like a Silkwing. "That's very cool," he replied, stepping sideways to let her join the conversation. "I'm Firebug. This is Aurora. We're in the same winglet," he explained.

Firebug shook his head. "No. But if I had to guess, I'd say he was the hybrid that just walked past us. He looked like a Sandwing and Seawing hybrid." He smiled at Aurora. At the very least, his first clawmate was proving to be nice already. The dragonet felt his nerves ease a little. "Oh, speaking of hybrids, I'm both Skywing and Hivewing," Firebug explained, tilting his wings to show her the black scales across them as well as his black underbelly.

Firebug nodded. "Yeah, yeah that's me," he answered, shuffling his feet a bit shyly. The Nightwing - Aurora - was older than him by about 3 years, which was reflected in her size. The only thing that made Firebug look anywhere near as big as the Nightwing was his wingspan, which, naturally for a Skywing, was much longer than most dragon species. "It's nice to meet you. I'm, um, I'm excited to see who's in my winglet." A thought occurred to him. "Oh - are you in my winglet? Is that how you recognized me?"

Firebug touched down on the sharp stones of Jade Mountain. He walked forward, taking in the sights. The stone scraped beneath his claws, and he felt conflicted - would he get used to it and enjoy it as a Skywing? Or would his Hivewing side long for the softer, less...dusty textures of webs? Firebug noticed the nearly empty outer area and figured the rest of the dragonets had already made their way inside, and he was a bit relieved not to be dumped into chaos from the first minute. Looking around, he noticed a rather energetic dragon saying goodbye to his parents - which he was a bit surprised to see were a Sandwing and a Seawing. Firebug had thought he might be the only hybrid in the school, but clearly he was wrong. Noise from the entrance to the caves caught his attention, and he gasped slightly at seeing a real Nightwing exit the caves. Walking over to her he shyly waved his wing in greeting. "Hi there," Firebug said, taking in her stunning black and blue scales. "A-are you a student here, too? Uh, I'm Firebug - I'm eight," he added quickly.

----

Wintergreen had quickly found her way to the listings of the winglets posted in the cave, after arriving a bit late. Jade Winglet! The Icewing shivered a bit with the realization that she was in the same winglet that Moonwatcher, Qibli, Prince Turtle, Kinkajou, and of course, Prince Winter had been in. Her clawmates were named Venus, Rose, and Quickbeat. A...Silkwing or a Nightwing, perhaps, along with maybe a Rainwing or another Silkwing? She wasn't sure what tribe Quickbeat might be from; the name didn't sound like any particular tribe. Following the map underneath the list, the Icewing made her way to her cave. Wintergreen stepped inside and saw the most beautiful dragonet she'd ever seen in her life. The stranger had deep blue and purple scales, covered all over with touches of brown, orange, pink, and white, making it look like a galaxy lived in her scales. "Hey there, I- Woooooahhhhhhh," came her greeting as she took the dragonet in. Although Wintergreen had studied the other tribes, she hadn't thought to study hybrids before. Which clawmate of hers was this? Probably not Quickbeat...ah. Venus, of course - named after a planet, she looked as though she actually did come from the cosmos. She felt unbelievably boring with her icy blue, white, and pale green coloring. Most Icewings looked pretty similar. "Uh. I'm Wintergreen," she introduced herself. This stranger must be at least part Rainwing - she remembered that they were considered the prettiest dragon tribes. "I'm, er, I'm in your winglet."

----

Sandpiper pressed himself close to his parents. His mother, Seaspray, gave him a big hug with her sky blue wings. "You be good now," she reminded him. "And mind your tail," his father, Warbler, added, making sure to keep his own tail barb coiled tightly away from other dragons. Sandpiper squiggled away from the two of them, nodding eagerly. "I know, I know." His parents smiled back at him before lifting off. "Goodbye!" He felt a pang of loneliness watching the dragons fly away. He knew he'd miss the two of them, and his young sister, Reef, but he also knew he was about to have a LOT of fun. Looking around, Sandpiper watched a very bright red dragon race over to a Nightwing, and had to do a double take. The red dragon looked like a Skywing at first glance, but he had a black underbelly and other black splotches across his wings. Pleased to see another hybrid, he slid past the two of them and trotted farther into the caves. Picking one at random, he poked his head in to find a rather bored looking Nightwing and a pretty white-ish dragon who looked like she might be a Silkwing. "Hello," Sandpiper said, grinning at them. "Sorry to bother you. Just exploring."

Seeing the younger cat's enthusiasm, Applefur felt energy surge through his own paws. "That's great!" He purred and flicked his tail, noticing Olivesplash waking up. Cloverpaw was right - Yellowswipe and Shadestream probably were getting impatient. "I hope you choose me for the first patrol you lead as warrior," he mewed, beckoning the two cats to follow him outside of the den. "What do you think your warrior name will be?" Applefur remembered being very excited, and he smiled as he remembered almost laughing at his own name. It was a good name, though, thanks to his reddish and white pelt.

----

Greenpaw was almost startled by Shellpaw's response. Even though it had been a pretty basic greeting, she was quite used to being widely ignored by cats her age, and she couldn't help a small stab of excitement at the fact that she was finally talking to another apprentice. "I'm glad," she answered eagerly. "I slept pretty-" Greenpaw broke off as she heard her mentor pad up and ask Shellpaw to get his mentor for patrol. Disappointed, she let out a sigh. Well, perhaps they could talk during dawn patrol. Greenpaw nodded, turning her attention fully to Lakeeyes. "Of course," she answered, eager to start the day.

((posted this last time but no response lol))

----

Sharpkit giggled. "I wouldn't mind that! It would be like being a 'paw!" He trotted out of the nursery, following closely in her pawsteps. He snuggled close to her forepaw as he glanced back at the den. While he wasn't too nervous as long as Muddybird was here, the kit always felt better with his sister by his side. "Raccoonkit! Come out with me," he called back softly, huddling closer to his mother. Moving his attention back to the clearing, he gasped as he saw Sparrowstar, ducking shyly under Muddybird's fur. While he respected the leader, he was, admittedly, a bit scared of her.

----

Fleetflame felt a rush of pride at Mudpaw's calm demeanor. While he knew that any apprentice would be nervous at the aspect of teaching, he knew that the tom was most confident in his hunting skills. And perhaps this would help Mudpaw make a friend - a friend that wouldn't bully him the second she saw him. "Good morning, you two," the warrior greeted warmly. "Pineblaze, if I could just work out a few details with you before we go?" Besides wanting to figure out a location, tactic for training, and length of the training, he also wanted the apprentices to get acquainted before they set off. Drawing the medicine cat aside, he gave her a smile. "How is Darkpaw getting on? She seems almost as nervous as Mudpaw sometimes." Pineblaze snorted.

"I agree with you there. She's as anxious as a fox in a fit sometimes - but she's underestimating herself." With a glance back behind her, she purred. "She seems pretty enthusiastic about this, though. I think she'll have fun once she loosens up."

Fleetflame nodded, flicking his tail. "True. I think Mudpaw will be the same way."

----

Darkpaw almost gasped when her mentor turned and left her alone with Mudpaw. She wasn't used to talking to other apprentices, and while the orange tom wasn't as aggravating or complicated as her brother, she still didn't know him that well. "Uh..hi," she started, awkwardly shuffling her paws. "Oh! Um, I'm really sorry about my brother. Brushpaw always acts like he has burrs in his pelt. It's not your fault," Darkpaw blurted out, remembering how awful Brushpaw usually was to the poor tom. "I promise I'm not like that," the medicine apprentice mewed sincerely, giving Mudpaw a shy smile.
