Ferra smiled as she watched another one of the girls enter the Pokemon Center, and gave the Ninetales that suddenly started trotting around a soft stroke behind the ears before it found something else to sniff. She turned to its trainer and motioned towards the bench next to her, inviting the girl to sit down. "Is that Ninetales yours? It's been raised very well." Grovyle broke away from Ferra for a few minutes as they walked. While humans were fascinating (and often confusing), he preferred to leave that avenue of conversation for his partner. The Grass-type took inventory of the Pokemon around him; there was a sleepy Venonat perched on a young girl's head, and a young boy was riding a Bouffalant. Another kid was carrying a Flareon, and she was followed by a woman with a Charizard. Grovyle couldn't help a stab of surprise at the sight of the draconic Pokemon. Not only was the Charizard noticeably smaller than most, but she was also shiny. The only other shiny Pokemon Grovyle ever remembered meeting was a...well, she was best described as a bit odd...but a Celebi, a Pokemon that he hadn't seen for a very long time. A sharp cry shook him out of his trance, and he lept over to where the Flareon and its Trainer were checking on a girl who'd fallen face-first into the snow. Biting back a laugh, he bent down and quietly pulled the young girl to her feet. She looked a bit younger than Ferra, and he remembered that she was the one with the Absol. Though Grovyle wanted to ask the poor girl if she was alright, he figured it would be better not to scare the living daylights out of her by suddenly speaking English. Instead, he just gave her a reassuring pat on the arm. ---- Slightly put-out that the Grovyle girl had ignored his question about her watch, Felix just shrugged and marched on with the group. Despite his clothing being better suited for the bitter cold than some of the people here, he was certainly starting to shiver after only a few minutes in the snow. Grateful for the suggestion to reach a Pokemon Center, he began to trudge onward, his Wigglytuff following close behind him. As much as this is super, really, extremely weird, I'm kinda excited for whatever our 'powers' are gonna be! Felix jumped a bit at a snarl echoing close behind him. He whipped around to see a very intimidating-looking Pokemon softly growling as it glared around at the people around it. Timidly, he spoke up. "U-uh, miss, your, um, your..." Pausing, Felix realized that he'd never seen the Pokemon before. "Um...your...wolf...thing...it won't attack any of us, right?" He felt his Wigglytuff shift closer to him as it glared protectively at the unfamiliar Pokemon. [Read more] |

"In the meantime," Ferra added, giving a smile to the boy on top of his Bouffalant, "I think it's a great idea to have our Pokemon warm us up a bit. We have to be careful not to get too cold." With that, she felt Grovyle snuggle a bit closer to her, and her smile grew slightly. ---- Felix huffed and rolled his eyes at the other kid's short answer, deciding to ignore him for the time being. He wasn't sure what on earth the weird pink thing had been talking about, but he got the feeling it was pretty urgent, and was all for a fun time climbing Mt. Coronet. He just hoped everyone else would have a fun time as well. "I-I think going to Snowpoint City is a g-great idea," Felix said after a brief silence, noticing the cool older girl with the Grovyle. His teeth were beginning to chatter from the cold, but he forgot all about it when he spotted the gadget around the Grovyle girl's wrist. "Oooh, what's that watch thing? It looks like a Poketch, but way cooler," the coordinator said, having a liking for fancy accessories. As he asked, he decided to release one of his Pokemon for warmth as well, choosing to send out his Wigglytuff, which immediately enveloped him in a hug. "Aww, hey big guy," Felix said with a laugh, patting his Pokemon's arm affectionately. "Thanks for the hug. Can I breathe now?" The pink Pokemon happily eased up, nuzzling his trainer as he did so. A tug on her arm prompted her to swivel her head in her partner's direction. "What is it?" Ferra inquired, still scanning the snowy, pine forested area around her. "There. Is that not one of the three lakes, partner?" Turning to look where he was pointing, Ferra's eyes widened when she saw that her partner was correct. "You're right - we've been moved all the way to Lake Acuity!" That means that the path over there- the young girl glanced to her right, where a flattened line of snow led out of the area -must lead to Snowpoint City. She smiled. "Well-spotted, Grovyle," Ferra praised, glad that whatever had sent them all the way up to the northernmost city in Sinnoh had at least bothered to include her cherished partner as well. Grovyle sighed as he took in the fact that something - a Pokemon, he suspected, though for the life of him he couldn't understand who or why - had teleported them to the freezing cold all of a sudden like this. "Why do you think we were called here?" he quietly asked Ferra, making sure to stay close to her. Ferra shrugged, although Grovyle could tell that she had a number of theories already. "I've got no clue," she answered before turning to him. "But I bet we're in for a wild ride!" A quiet murmer of voices from a little ways away got Grovyle's attention, and he looked up to see that Ferra had heard it as well. Silently, they made their way around a few trees to see a small group of other kids, most appearing to be younger than herself. "Odd group," Grovyle commented, earning a nod from Ferra as she quietly approached, planning to simply listen to the conversation until addressed. ---- "OOOOF!" Although it had been unpleasant, to say the least, to suddenly find himself face-first in a pile of snow, Felix figured it was better than most options when one is dumped someplace random out of the blue. Standing up, wincing a bit at the new bruises his short fall had given him, he dusted off stray flakes that had clung to his shirt when he realized that he wasn't the only one here. A bunch of other kids - most of which looked older than him, he realized to his dismay - had also appeared out of thin air. He shivered, feeling lucky that he was at least wearing long sleeves and pants. "Uh, so, does anyone have literally any idea what's going on?" The young man realized he was still clutching a Heal Ball in his hand, and returned it quickly to his leather bag. "I was just about to start the appeals round of the Solaceon contest, but I suppose "I just got teleported to Snowpoint City" is a good enough excuse for missing my turn," Felix added dryly, looking around at the others. Name: Ferra Calces
Type: Steel Age: 18 Gender: Female Skill: High durability. She requires very little food and water to function well, and it’s extremely hard for her to seriously injure herself from pressure, falls, or heat. She will not be hurt by fire or heat unless it reaches past 1700 degrees Farenheit (hotter than volcanic lava!). Ferra will have a longer lifespan than most people as well, possibly living to nearly 300 years old due to the way her body conserves energy and recycles the resources it consumes. She is, however, unusually light, so it's easy to knock her down or weigh her down. Most of her uniform contains small, evenly placed weights that help with this, and her boots have a lot of traction to improve her stability. Physical Description (please give at least a brief summary in words; images are great, so long as you briefly describe them): Ferra is a slightly tall female (5’7”) and has an athletic build. She has slightly wavy black hair that reaches to just past her shoulder, often worn in a ponytail. Ferra has warm amber eyes that almost seem to glow in sunlight. She has freckles across her nose and under her eyes. Ferra, as a Pokemon Ranger, usually is seen in uniform. She wears water-resistant, form-fitting grey-blue pants that have several pockets on the hips and sides. A slightly darker grey-blue long-sleeved shirt is paired with a grey vest. Her capture styler has a white band and frame with a golden disk and amber accents; it functions as a Pokedex, radio, radar, GPS, and cell phone along with its functions as a capture styler. Ferra sports white gloves, a yellow scarf, and grey boots to finish off her look. Depending on the climate and weather conditions, a grey mask, blue hat, and/or grey parka may also be added to her outfit. Personality: Ferra is a very quiet young lady with a lot on her mind. She is an excellent team player, able to both take charge when needed and support those in charge when asked to. She can be a bit stubborn when she really has her mind set on something, but is generally very adaptable and flexible, open to change and new ideas. Ferra trusts people easily, as she possesses a good instinct for whether a person is trustworthy or not. She has a fascination with history, especially legends and mysteries, and if she hadn’t become a Ranger, she would have loved to be a historian or an explorer. Part of why she loves her job is because she gets to do a little of those things anyways. Like most rangers, Ferra has a partner Pokemon. Hers is a Grovyle, and the two share a deep bond. Ferra has taken the time and effort to attempt to learn how to better communicate with Pokemon, but Grovyle has performed the unusual and impressive feat of being able to speak English, although it is a bit broken. However, he, like Ferra, is fairly quiet, preferring to let his actions do the talking. Ferra admires the Steel type for its durability, ingenuity, and practicality. She carries a couple of Pokemon with her, although they are used more in emergency situations when she is unable to call on Grovyle or use her capture styler for assistance. Name: Felix Coruscent
Type: Fairy Age: 15 Gender: Male Skill (Flying, breathing under water, etc. Must correlate in some way with type): Limited spatial manipulation as well as limited power of illusion. He is able to teleport non-living things a short distance (about a mile radius), warp space around himself (change directions of anything moving within his space, change proportions of anything in his space, stretch/squish objects, etc.), and create lifelike illusions that function similarly to the move Double Team. Felix is also a strong empath, being able to sense and feel the emotions of those around him; he can also manipulate the emotions (occasionally willpower and memory as well) of those around him. If he overuses his illusions/spatial powers, he becomes incredibly sleepy, so much so that he is prone to passing out at any given moment once he's exhausted his limits. Physical Description (please give at least a brief summary in words; images are great, so long as you briefly describe them): Felix is a relatively short young boy, standing at about 5’5”. He has strawberry blond hair in waves, and it is kept around chin length. Unusually, he has pale pink/purple irises that slightly change hue according to his emotions. Felix likes to be well-dressed at all times, even if it’s something plain. He generally wears an ivory, long-sleeved dress shirt with a fitted vest; while the vest varies in color depending on his mood, it is usually a muted fuchsia. He also wears somewhat dressy pants, generally in a light color that matches the rest of his outfit (often a shade of brown). Completing his outfit are saddle shoes, white socks, and a brown leather shoulder bag, as well as white gloves when it gets cold out. Personality: Felix is a very charming young man. He is naturally kind and open-hearted, even with complete strangers, and is of the opinion that no truly bad person exists in the world. He loves to show off his Pokemon at any opportunity, a trait that led him on the path to becoming a coordinator. Hailing from the Sinnoh region, he was pleased to know that dressing-up is the normal for these competitions, and his tastes in fashion are just as practical as they are flashy. He can be impatient and indecisive at times, but these tendencies sprout more from his youth than anything else, as he is a very selfless and self-supportive person at heart. Felix is a chatterbox as well, and he will not hesitate to jump into the spotlight if the opportunity presents itself. ---- Greenpaw nodded, waiting in silence with her mentor for the other two cats to appear. As soon as they did, Lakeeyes immediately set off at a clip, and she tried not to roll her eyes. Her mentor wasn't one to sit around and waste sunlight, but he could at least say hello to everyone. The young she-cat soon fell behind the two warriors, keeping pace instead with Shellpaw. As annoying as it was to have to wake up so early, Greenpaw was full of energy at the fact that she'd landed a patrol with her mentor, her father, and an apprentice who didn't constantly ignore her. She gave Shellpaw a smile, feeling a bit bolder than usual. "Does Twilightstem always rush off like this? Lakeeyes seems like he's always in such a hurry," Greenpaw whispered to the other apprentice, making sure to keep her voice down so as not to draw attention. ---- "M-mom," Sharpkit mewed with embarrassment as he felt her tail lightly tap his face. "I-it's just that I like having Raccoonkit with me, that's all," he said, trying to keep his paws from shaking as he inched a bit out from behind Muddybird. "And..." he flattened his ears a bit. "She's...she's kinda scary! What if I mess something up?" The young kit poked his head around the queen's leg to look at Sparrowstar. Although Sharpkit knew that the leader was really quite kind and wouldn't hurt him, he couldn't help but be intimidated by her powerful appearance. He cast another furtive glance back at the nursery, hoping desperately that his much braver sister would come out to join him. ---- Darkpaw nodded, relieved that the orange-furred apprentice wasn't going to blame her for her brother's sour attitude. "O-oh, yes, I'm Darkpaw," she responded, feeling a bit more at ease. While they'd clearly met before and knew each other, she found it much more comfortable to have a concrete introduction as a starting point. Aha, here's Team Rocket! It looks like they're on orders from Giovanni (nice to see him again, and good to know Meowth still hates Persian) to catch/steal Pokemon in Alola - same old, same old. From there it went right to the Rotom-Dex, which was a great intro to Rotom. I loved seeing Rotom zoom around (making AWESOME noises) before entering the Pokedex. It was really great to see Rotom behaving like a Pokemon, as it was really new to everything and didn't understand some phrases like "that's awesome!" Rotom-Dex has a great personality and I really like how it interacted with each of the characters. Mimikyu is here! It was very creepy and I appreciated that SO much. I love hearing the extremely unsettling noises, the fact that Meowth and Wobbuffet were constantly creeped out by what it was saying, and the nice animations of the moves like Shadow Claw really added to the creepy factor. Ash finding Mimikyu after Team Rocket was neat, since it isn't often that we see the two of them legitimately competing over a capture. I really like how Mimikyu joined Team Rocket because of its hatred for Pikachu, which actually makes a lot of sense and is good motivation for it. Bewear was hilarious. Everyone's reactions were great, from Jessie and James just calmly (and confusedly) asking Bewear to please put them down and Ash and the gang with extremely bewildered looks and Meowth dragging Mimikyu and Wobbuffet to go save them. While I wasn't expecting to see Mimikyu here, it made a lot of sense with the introduction of Team Rocket alongside it. There was a bit less to talk about for this episode, but I still quite enjoyed it! It's also cool how they keep showing shots of Komala, Litten, and other Alolan Pokemon. Also, that thing with Gardevoir, Lopunny, and Glaceon was really, really weird, please no more. . Here is some explanation for some of the notes: - It was really fun to see everyone from the "perspective" of the Rotom-Dex - I love that Rotom-Dex takes pictures of every Pokemon it encounters. - Sophocles wanting to take apart the Rotom-Dex to see how it worked was very funny and reminded me of something (but I can't remember what). - The Pokedex entry where someone is said to have died of shock after seeing Mimikyu's real form was a wonderfully unsettling addition once Meowth realized how much danger he was actually in. New hopes/wishlist additions: - Jessie catches Mimikyu - Mimikyu and Pikachu have an episode together New predictions/theories: - Mimikyu will be hard to catch - Mimikyu will beat Pikachu in battle at least once Predictions/theories proved right in this episode: - Ash excited about Rotom-Dex - Rotom-Dex shenanigans - Ash takes Rotom-Dex to school Predictions/theories proved wrong in this episode: - Ash and Rotom-Dex argue Prediction for plot of next episode based off of the title: "Enter Mokuroh! I Got a Pokémon in Alola!!" Ash catches Rowlet! The class is either about starters or it just continues from where episode 3 left off. If so, then I think Jessie will catch Mimikyu and maybe there will be more information about Bewear. [Read more] |

Again, there was a lot going on here! I'm very glad that we did in fact get to see everyone's reaction to the Z-Ring and the story behind it. Kiawe is asking the right questions - "Where did it get the Z-Ring?" - so that question will definitely be answered! Yay! It was nice to see the small interactions between the school characters and their Pokemon, and show a little more of their personalities. Lillie will likely be my favorite character, at least as far as these first two episodes have shown me. She's a lot less shy than I thought she would be, which is different from her game counterpart. I really like that she seems to be the bookworm of the group, and I love that while she's uncomfortable around Pokemon, she does truly like them and is fascinated by them. I think she and Ash will get along really well. The "Alolan Surprise!" was very cute and sweet of the group to do, and they clearly see that Ash loves a bit of competition (and battling!) I'm enjoying having an actual adult along for the ride for once. While we've had characters like Brock and Cilan in the past to be more mature and steady amongst the travelling companions, it is really nice to have Kukui be part of the action as well. It gives a bit more insight into what's happening as well as a different perspective on events - this is also why I'm a huge fan of Dande (Leon) and Sakuragi (Cerise) in Journeys! I was very happy to see a classic "Pokemon steals Ash's hat" again, especially from a legendary this time (reminds me a bit of Latias, just...much more intimidating, lol.) The battle with Tapu Koko was a great way to show off the gorgeous Electric Terrain animation! I really loved the moment where Koko rushed at Ash and he raised his arms in defense and it stopped short and tapped the Z-Crystal - that was a great bit of animation and character for Tapu Koko. The Z-Move was alright, though I wish Ash had a little more trouble executing it, but the shattering of the crystal afterwards made up for that. Interesting that we still haven't seen Team Rocket. I wonder what they're up to? Vacationing as well, maybe? Here is some explanation for some of the notes: - I wasn't sure if the Charizard Kiawe was using in the first episode was actually his. Very cool that he owns one! - I think there may have been some minor telepathy between Ash and Tapu Koko, but I'm not positive. - I thought the Z-Crystal was the Pikanium Z one, but it makes more sense now that it's broken that it was just a regular Electrium Z. - Lillie's explanation of Tapu Koko's behavior was great. Its more temperamental side reminds me of the Greek gods. - Ah yes, classic "it's not that simple" speech. - Oak's Exeggutor costume...interesting. - Kukui's cooking looks great. - Ash was late, of course. - The OST is taken almost directly from the games at points, which is really nice. - The little challenges from the party were like mini-trials. New hopes/wishlist additions: - We see Rotom outside of the Pokedex at least once - Mallow, Lana, Sophocles, and Kiawe are actually trial captains - Rotom dex and Lillie both give a Pokedex entry together New predictions/theories: - Tapu Koko shows up to battle Ash every now and then - There will be episodes centered around Kiawe's delivery service and Mallow's restaurant, respectively. Predictions/theories proved right in this episode: - Ash tells everyone about how he got the Z-Ring - Ash makes his first attempts to perform a Z-Move - Bond between trainer and Pokemon is talked about - Tapu Koko will battle Ash at some point Predictions/theories proved wrong in this episode: - This episode's school lesson is about Z-Moves - They will talk about Kiawe's Z-Move in this episode Prediction for plot of next episode based off of the title: "Good Rotomorning, I Am the Rotom Zukan Roto!" Okay, there was a LOT going on here! Still hate the art style, but I do appreciate the lovely landscapes. I thought that Ash was "on vacation" the whole series (or at least most of it), so the knowledge that he's NOT certainly clears up some confusion. I do hope that we see Delia more, because her interactions with Ash in this episode is something we rarely see and was really sweet. I'm not sure whether I like the cold open in Alola or not, because I think I would have liked a bit more setup and seeing Ash's real first reaction to Alola, but I also appreciate them jumping straight into it. As I mentioned earlier, I absolutely love the first Japanese opening song, and this will give me a great way to memorize it, haha! I was pretty surprised with how quickly Ash met all of the core characters, especially Lillie. While I did expect him to get acquainted with them soon, I didn't expect to see Lana around 2 minutes into the episode, and then everyone else midway. Even Team Skull got introduced in this episode! While it was nice to get a character lineup, I definitely think it was a bit rushed. I would have liked to see Ash meet them over the course of a few episodes rather than all at once. Team Skull, while hilarious, was certainly too early. It would have been cool to see them plotting or something instead. Also, Z-Moves were introduced in this episode - also incredibly early. I think it would have been awesome to have Tapu Koko gift Ash the Z-Ring without him knowing what it was or what it did! It was very shocking for me to see Lillie so early. While I knew that she would be a part of the main cast, I figured she would be added later and would be a bit more mysterious. However, I actually like this a lot! It gives her a great chance to be good friends with everyone before her life starts to blow up around her...poor girl. It also seems as though she doesn't have Nebby yet, so that will be interesting. This is also the first time Ash's "travelling" companions already know each other! I'm going to be hoping for some fun backstory shenanigans there. Kiawe is less intimidating than I thought he'd be, and I appreciate that he let Ash help even though he didn't seem to want the help; I think he figured Ash was a new trainer and was trying to teach him (which is super sweet aww.) Tapu Koko! He's certainly taken an interest in Ash. It definitely makes sense, because it's the Tapu that loves Pokemon battles, so Ash is a great pick (and in the hindsight of him being the future champion, that's pretty awesome.) I have no idea where this Pokemon got a Z-Ring, so hopefully that will be explained at some point. With the timeskip, I'm unsure if we'll get to see everyone's reactions to the Z-Ring, which would be pretty disappointing. Hello everyone! My name is Ralsei, and I've never watched the Pokemon Sun and Moon anime. This is going to be a documentation of my journey watching each episode for the first (and, very occasionally, second) time. A review video, if you will, but in the form of writing, haha! I'm very excited to share these reactions with all of you, and here's some general info! 1. I'll be keeping a progress bar to let you know how far into the series I am. I'll also have links to each episode in a separate post, as well as to any other things I decide to add! I don't think there were any Alola movies, so no movie reactions here. 2. I will be watching these as Japanese subbed! Unless there's a request or something to watch special episodes in the dub, I'll be sticking with subbed for a couple of reasons: I love the "Alola!" opening, I like being able to read what they are saying, and it keeps me more engaged. 3. I will not be watching episode previews or trailers! I don't want to spoil myself, just in case! 4. I have been spoiled about some things, of course, but not much. Here's what I know about the characters/plot of the S/M anime: - Lana fishes up Ash. - Lillie is scared of Pokemon. Her first mon is Alolan Vulpix. - Gladion is Ash's rival, and so is Kiawe. - Sophocles wants to be an astronaut or study space or something? - Mallow is the resident cook. - Nebby plays a big part in the story and evolves at some point (Into Solgaleo I think). - Ash's team eventually consists of Incineroar, Melmetal, Rowlet, Dusk Lycanroc, Naganadel, and Pikachu. - Litten was taking care of an old Stoutland before joining Ash. - Ash sort of took care of Poipole for a while? There's a whole plot there but idk much of it. - Ash, of course, becomes the Alola Champion. (Still a bit salty about this one, but nevertheless I'm very proud.) - Gladion and Lillie leave to find their father. - Kukui and Burnet get married! - Team Rocket have a Bewear that follows them all over the place. They also have a Mareanie. I forget whether Jessie has a Pokemon or not (or what it is.) - Brock and Misty return That's about all I know, unless I'm forgetting something (highly likely). This might get changed to be a bit fancier later! One last note: While I would LOVE to chat with you about my reactions/theories/opinions on the anime, please do not post on this thread!
