I hate it when unaccepting parents of trans kids treat them coming out as "the death of their child". like it's just such a stupid and over-the-top metaphor that doesn't even come close to encapsulating what your kid's experiencing. they're still a living, breathing human being, they haven't been replaced by anyone or anything, they just experience the world in a different light and want to share that experience with you. I'm lucky to have a supportive family, some of my friends aren't, so that's where I come in! I give them all the the support I can cuz their parent(s) won't! People who are like that make me physically ill
