Question about Event breeding
Forum-Index → Help → Question about Event breedingI understand that the Pokémon having different dex numbers would mean that they wouldn’t produce eggs as quickly, but I’m wondering if them being from the same evolution line would still give them the same ratio of Event eggs to Non-Event eggs. Would Catercream + Metacream have the same chance of each egg they produce being Catercream as two Catercream would? And would Catercream + Metapod have the same chance of each egg they produce being Catercream as Catercream + Caterpie would? Since there still wouldn’t be any chance of any eggs that aren’t Catercream or Caterpie being produced, I don’t see why it would make a difference, but I’m still concerned because these types of pairings aren’t addressed in the article.
Also, would Catercream + Ditto be the same as Catercream + Caterpie and/or Catercream + Metapod, since that pairing also wouldn’t have any chance of producing any eggs that aren’t Catercream or Caterpie, although Ditto isn’t from the same evolution line as the Event Pokémon or its Non-Event counterpart?
Actually, I was about to go through every single of your questions about chances to clarify them, but I realized it's a difference between "chance of producing an egg" (like the general chance that an egg will happen) and "chance of the egg being an event egg".
I can talk about the general chance for an egg, but I am unsure how exactly these specific pairings will effect event chance.
My personal guess is that the event chance is only influenced by the question if one or both parents are event Pokemon, but that needs confirmation from a smarter person.
About your cases and the chance to produce an egg:
Having 2 exact same Pokemon (like Catercream+Catercream), will yield the highest chance for eggs.
Having 1 Pokemon as the non-event counterpart (like Catercream+Caterpie) is the second best pairing.
It's still good to use a wild mix of Event/Non-Event Evolution stages (like Metacream+Caterpie), but especially for Event breeding you will want to try for the best chances possible, as event eggs are rare and you want to produce as many eggs in general as you can, so you should always go for Event+Event (Catercream+Catercream /// Metacream+Metacream etc.) Bonus breeding chance if they have different OTs!
I really hope someone will be able to answer my questions.
But dont worry about your Pokemon too much. You can breed (as an example) your Steamo with your Zweipunk, and whenever you hatch a male Steamo, you will have a perfect breeding pair (your already owned Steamo is female+different OT, the new hatched Steamo is male+your OT, so it's perfect)
All of these conditions are really just min-maxing, so if you have two Quagschnee with the same OT, that's still a very good pair. It's okay to use a non-perfect (or even kinda bad pair) to breed yourself a perfect pair ^^
The article actually says that the worst Event chance comes from “If you pair two different Event Pokémon - Catercream + Scattercube”, but it doesn’t say anything about pairing two different Event Pokémon from the same evo line, so that causes some uncertainty with whether I should pair Steamo and Zweipunk or not. And are you sure it would be a perfect pair if the pair was parent and child? I thought I read something a long time ago about incest being really bad for egg chances...
I just found this post https://pokeheroes.com/forum_thread?id=94636&post=3094366#3094366 where someone said “Make sure that they are not related to each other or else it won't work.” and someone else said “It's actually mostly fine if they're related, they just can't be brother and sister.” And siblings share the same amount of DNA as parent and child do, so, if siblings can’t breed, it wouldn’t make sense if a parent and child could.
And I just checked, a Farigiraf and a Jesterig with 2 different OTs give "The two seem to get along." Even without event pokemon to consider, two pokemon from the same evo line with different OTs would only give "The two seem to get along." So breeding Jesterig with Farigiraf gives the same chance as with ditto
A Slowore and a Yorebro with diff OTs give "The two seem to get along." This is only a guess, but the chance for the event egg is only affected by whether one or both pokemon are event. Them being different evos only affect the breeding chance - how frequently you can get eggs.
Also I'm pretty sure parent child breeding is for gameplay convenience. It's also something you can do in the pokemon games (except for gen II)
