I was fishing at the Emera Beach when I caught a Shoal Shell and I noticed right underneath where it told me I got the item that It said "It escaped..." and then when I went to cast my line again it would undo my casting in about a second and tell me that "It escaped..." over and over again. The message never stopped and when I try to cast the line again it just automatically pulls it back within or in about a second. Selecting Emera Beach on the dropdown menu tab seems to get rid of the repeated message, but I know this kind of section-breaking glitch happened all the time at launch years ago and managed to get fixed back then.

I think I might know what could be causing this glitch.

The last few times it happened, I accidentally double-clicked "Pull rod" and the timer was going down by two seconds instead of one. Then, when I reeled in the Pokemon/item, I was shown that I had caught, while simultaneously told "It escaped..." and I couldn't cast the line.

When that happens, I just reload the page and it's fixed, and I'm able to fish again.

Though, I don't know if this the same as what happened to you, or if it's slightly different.
