I've wanted to create a diary for myself, but posting a new post makes it rather add/edit to the first post.

if this is enough of an example?

Yeah I think that happens when they are posted too close to each other (timewise) to prevent spam. Wait a bit and make a new post in that diary later, then it should work. Like leave 10-15 minutes between the posts

It's not bugged. As Mirej explained, close posts are automatically merged to combat SPAM.

It can take up to an hour for posts to be kept separate.
