The Mall
Forum-Index → Roleplay → The Mall"Have you been to the Mall before?" Matty's question slipped out before she could second-guess herself, her genuine curiosity outweighing her lingering inhibitions. She watched Calmia, hoping to glean more about her experiences and how she managed to navigate through situations that seemed so overwhelming to someone like Matty.

She sighed.
"Well, most recently, we were hunting a few criminals called the Stellaron Hunters, who try to reach a future that they like."
wickedness?
Or is it
weakness?
You decide.
"Stellaron Hunters?" Matty repeated, her voice sounding strange. She leaned in a little closer, her head slightly drooping as the effort to hold it up became too much.
"That sounds... incredibly intriguing. Trying to reach a future they like? How does that even work?" Her embarrassment was momentarily overshadowed by the allure of the stories. Stories! From other dimensions! They were better than any Dickens or Steinbeck.

Calmia sighed.
"I doubt me and my siblings are even side characters. We're just... extras, I suppose."

She watched Calmia sigh, her expression softening with empathy. "Extras? I find that hard to believe," Matty replied, her fatigue and inhibitions momentarily forgotten. "You and your siblings have stunning personalities, compelling stories, complex plotlines and motivations, great looks... I'd say that makes you far from extras."

She stole a quick glance at Calmia, her cheeks still tinged with pink. "I just meant, you know, that you're interesting to talk to and... uh, yeah." Matty's voice trailed off, her embarrassment evident in her awkward fumbling. The painkillers had certainly lowered her inhibitions, but they hadn't provided her with the eloquence to navigate such a situation with grace.

Calmia's compliment caught her off guard, and she could feel her cheeks heating up once again. "Oh, um, thanks," Matty mumbled, her voice a little uncertain. She fidgeted with the edge of her shirt, her mind a whirlwind of awkwardness and gratitude. It was rare for her to receive compliments, and the painkillers seemed to have heightened her sensitivity to such interactions, making her internal struggles all the more apparent.

"Right, the truth," Matty echoed softly, her gaze dropping to her lap as she fiddled with a loose thread on her pants. She cursed her own inability to handle even a simple conversation without turning it into a mess.

"Thanks," Matty murmured, her voice a little quieter than usual. She shifted in her seat, struggling to find the right words to express her gratitude without tripping over her own awkwardness. "I... um, I'm glad you think so. And, well, I also find you... very interesting." She blushed at her own admission, her gaze dropping to her lap once again as she wrestled with the complexities of the conversation.

"Are you... lying to me?" Matty's voice wavered slightly, a mixture of curiosity and vulnerability in her tone. "Or maybe playing a joke on me? I mean, you're just so... nice, and I'm not really sure why. It's just... I don't know, it's hard to believe." Her words came out in a rush, her thoughts and feelings swirling in a confusing mix that left her searching for some semblance of clarity.
