So, I bought the rare egg radar, but I'm still unable to select rare pokemon to search for in the tall grass such as ralts. Is there something I'm doing wrong or what?

You can only find pokémon that you have the Egg Dex of in the Tall Grass.
(you need to have hatched one yourself)
