"Viktor!" she scolded. "Can't you learn to knock, for once in your life?" She crossed her arms, unable to help a scowl as Kubo's ugly face came into view behind him. "And ugh! Just get out for a second, okay? Put those termite infestations somewhere outside. We're almost done in here, we don't need you bringing the bugs in."
"Funny," Kubo drawled. He was leaning up against the doorway, arms crossed. Predictably, he'd offloaded his work to Viktor. Sneaky little rat. "To think you of all people would be worried about pests. When you have that thing hanging off your arm."
Kaoru's fists clenched. "You little-"
"Hey hey, guys!" Suko cheered, popping through the door. "I just discovered that if you put bleach on mold it kills it! Google told me!" They waved their phone in the air.
"Thank you, Suko." Kaoru took it.
"Aww man." Suko frowned. "I spent a lot of money on my new 'hide-it-from-Kaoru' phone. Dang." They blinked and then started to reach into their jacket."Hey, the tone in here is super depressing. Is turning on music illegal or-"
Kaoru took their third phone.
Suko sighed deeply. "Alas, it was not to be."
Stitches kind of flinched at Kubo's remark. She wanted to say something against it but... looking up at Kaoru's stressed face, she could not tell if he was actually right or not. After all, she has not done that much since their arrival... and Kaoru keeps getting mocked because of her kindness. So, she just takes her suitcase and retreats a bit, looking around to find a bed.
Viktor looks at the outcast leaving, feeling a little bad... but he could not go to her to comfort or anything with the double workload that he's got right now. So, when he had to pass the others for a chore, he gave Kubo a hit on the shoulder and did not say anything else. His expression, for the first time since they arrived, turned serious. Just for them... before it became joyful again and he simply kept going, trying to spread his smile to the other people in the room.

Kubo Atsushi
Just a hit on the shoulder. Just one measly little tap.
Kubo didn't know whether to feel incredulous or disappointed. His companions seemed to be suitable enough for both emotions- bunch of idiots, the lot of them. Heartless jerks who couldn't read the tone to save their lives.
He slipped by Kaoru and her new pet, choosing to make his way towards the back of the room. Suko kept pulling out more and more phones from increasingly incredulous places.
"But it's a flip phone!"
Like that matters to her, he thought grumpily. Phone Nazi.
He paused by the door to the guy's side. The memory of someone flashed through his mind- leaning against this very door. A person who would've stood up for Faythe.
Kubo gave his head a brisk shake, and instead turned the knob, slipping inside. He heaved a deep sigh and opened his eyes.
Just in time for a metal bar to collide with his head.
BANG!
Kaoru Kajiwara
BANG!
The noise resounded around the cabin. Something metal hit the ground, and something heavy a thump later.
"Did anyone else hear that?" Suko asked. "Or do I need to take more phone pills?" They withdrew a phone from their hair. "Because if that's a thing then I-"
Kaoru took the phone and flicked the flashlight on. She gestured Viktor forward and mouthed bedroom.
"So you get my phone? That's so unfair! I have data on that one. Hypocrite. Hypophonecrite."
Kaoru shushed them and turned to Faythe. "Do you know where Kubo is?" she whispered.
Immersed in thought, she kept her proximity to Kaoru and looks around, shaking her head about Kubo. To be honest, she needed a second to remember who they were... simply because remembering faces was not their strongest attribute. Then, her gaze turned into confusion, what's wrong? She couldn't speak but her expression said it enough.
Viktor on the other hand immediately reacts too. He gives Kaoru a nod, grabs Suko by his shirt and pulls him towards the bedroom. No innuendos implied, it was probably just safer and saner if them and Kaoru gained some distance to each other. Luckily, the blonde had a flashlight of his own to look around, flicking it open. He slowly advances towards the room, holding Suko close for no other reason other than preventing them from running to make more phone jokes.

Kaoru put a finger to her lips and crept after Viktor and Suko, Faythe's hand clutched tightly in hers. The shadows of the cabin seemed to be encroaching on them. Circling them.
She shivered and decided to forget she ever thought that.
"Oh boy!" Suko exclaimed from the bedroom. "KuboKubo's dead! I guess there's a murderer among us, huh? That'll be fun?"
Her eyes widened and in a flash she was at the door, throwing it open and staring at the body on the ground.
Kubo's face was bloody and bruises were already forming. A bad cut was on his forehead. All limbs were splayed.
But his chest moved up and down. He was breathing.
She turned to glare at Suko
"Anyone wanna solve the murder game?" they asked cheerfully.
"You! You did this!" Kaoru stalked over to them and seized them by the collar. "What the hell? What'd he ever do to you?"
Viktor meanwhile noticed Kubo still breathing or at least slightly moving. Wasting no time, he rushed to their side and starts breathing heavily out of nervousness.
"Don't worry. I got you, I just need my first aid kit. Don't worry. Just don't. Kaoru, call an ambulance!" He shouts, trying his best. To close wounds... to keep Kubo alive.
Faythe remained in shock. She did not do anything. She could not.

Kaoru Kajiwara
"I got this!" Suko brought out a phone and without thinking, Kaoru slapped it down. It shattered on the floor.
Suko and Kaoru stared at each other.
Kubo groaned on the ground and Kaoru promptly forgot about Suko. "Kubo! Are you okay? What happened? Can you see?" She took him by the shoulders and peered into his eyes which were fluttering.
"Too... bright..." he muttered.
Faythe was outside, sitting on the ground and holding her head. She was trying to calm down, jittering and hyperventilating from the sight. In her mind, she tried to count to ten... but couldn't pass three.

Suko Nobu
Suko stood, staring at Kubo's inert form. Welp! He was dead. Too bad, so sad. Suko didn't really care. They put their arms behind their head and observed everyone else's reactions.
"Got it." Kaoru nodded and left the room.
Faythe meanwhile... just remained outside. Sitting on the ground, hands on her temples and jittery. She kept trying to count, something so she calms down. She still could not pass three in her mental exercise... God, why do these stitches itch so much all of a sudden... she had to resist the urge of scratching and potentially opening them.

Suko Nobu
Suko squinted. "Hey, he's breathing," they mentioned curiously.
Then Kubo's fist shot up and connected with Viktor's face.
Kaoru Kajiwara
Kaoru noticed Faythe sitting alone, by herself. The girl looked even more lonely than usual. Everyone treated her like a pariah. They would just leave her to sit there, poking at her stitches, looking close to tears.
A pang of guilt went through Kaoru. Aren't you complicit in that? a voice in her head whispered. Aren't you doing just that right now?
She set her jaw, and before she knew it, she had put a hand on Faythe's shoulder. "Hey," she said softly. "You okay?"
Faythe twitches when Kaoru touches her shoulder but this time, she did not back off or anything. She was still trying to calm down and Kaoru finally felt a stitch of her. One that went over her shoulder, it felt like a warm zipper... a warm pulsing Zipper. Her hand felt nice on the itching wound.
She simply shook her head as much as she could, hands on her temples.

Suko Nobu
"Yep! They sure are! And your nose sure suffered for it!"
They grinned at Kubo as he sat up, gasping for air. The kiddin's hand flew to his forehead, and came back bloody. His face went very white. "Oh god," he mumbled. "I think I'm going to be sick."
"Don't be! That's your blood! It's your friend! It's right where it's supposed to be! On you!"
Kubo fainted dead away. His head hit the ground. Thump.
Suko frowned. "Huh, I wonder what happened. Oh well!" They perked up. "He's alive! Can we bring out the Belgian chocolates now? I've been cravin' em all day! I reeeeeeallly want my chocolate, you know?"
Kaoru Kajiwara
So she wasn't okay... well...
Kaoru looked down at the fist clenched by her side. She eased it out and came to kneel in front of Faythe. "Hey," she whispered.
Faythe blinks a few times, four times to be exact, before her gaze went up. She looks into her eyes, her panic washing away... her stiffness retreats a bit and she feels comfort in both her look and her shoulder. She just moved her lips, no sound came out, but it was obvious what she wanted to say. "Hey."

Kaoru Kajiwara
Without saying a word, Kaoru wrapped her arms around Faythe in a gentle hug. She tugged her warmth closer and breathed her in. Blood and sugar and sweat- everything so unbelieveably Faythe.
A crow cawed in the distance.
Slowly, Kaoru released her.
Suko Nobu
Suko pouted. For the strangest moment, they thought they were being ignored! Why was Viktor not getting out the chocolate stash? Kubo was dead to the world and it was incredibly obvious to Suko that this was a problem only solveable by chocolate.
"Chocolate?" they repeated again. "Gee, your ears sure suck Viktor! I said chocoooolate. Chocolate. Chocolate." They poked his ear in tune with each whine. "Chocoooolate! Chocoolateee! CHOOOOCCCOOOLATEEE!"
When Kaoru released her, Faythe... was blushing.
Viktor grabs a chocolate bar and opens it. "Good idea." He ignores whatever the hell Suko was on. Instead, the choir boy waves the bar under Kubo's nose. Maybe he would "reanimate" again when smelling it.

Kaoru Kajiwara
Kaoru pulled back, studying her. "Are you alright?" she asked. "I understand if today has been stressful for you..."
Suko Nobu
Suko grinned, watching them. "That's cute, by the way. What you've got going."
Kubo gave a groan, twitching on the floor.
"Very cute," they added helpfully.
Viktor smiles a little and puts the chocolate down, giving Kubo some space and time to recover. "How are you feeling? Do you need something?" He inquires, looking around him for a drink to offer to his "patient".
