I've been trying to release the pokemon in this box, but for some reason, it won't register that I've released it?
) I've tried moving them to different boxes and releasing them there but it doesn't seem to work either.
) I've also tried using both the select all and selecting them individually.
) Only happens with these 29 pokemon? Other pokemon I've tried releasing in the box and other boxes release just fine
) I've tried refreshing
Is this an issue on my part or pokeheroes?

It's an issue on your part. If you can't release a pokémon, it means they're "busy".
You've used them somewhere on the site and that's not done (yet).

Set up in the GTS
Set up in the Auction House
Sent on a Rumbling Mission
Part of a Battle Team
Placed in the DayCare

Edit - pokémon specific locations

Combee - Honeycombs
Miltank - Moomoo Ranch

There might be more, but those are the most common ones.
