Isabelle stared down the guard from the door. She had one motif: kill. And as her brain raced, she thought back to how this happened, to how this horrible fate had befallen her. She hesitated but watched as the body lurched forward, taking small cautious steps at a time. Hearing the click and whirs of the gears, the child turned away, not wanting to watch the same thing that happened every single day. The blood, and the screams.
Blood and screams.
Blood and screams.
Her blood ... and her screams.
How could destiny be so cruel?
**********
Isabelle Morgans woke up at exactly five-o-clock in the morning, to nothing in particular. At least, that’s what she thought. A loud thunk resonated through her bedroom and she looked at the window. It came from over there. The window...? Her thoughts were groggy and messy. She stood up, rubbing her eyes and stumbling over to the window, seeing her tired reflection in the dirty glass.
She glanced down at the first-floor balcony of the 2-story house.
There was a blob of colors. Isabelle cursed her bad eyesight--her parents hadn’t cared enough to get her glasses--and pressed her head against the cold pane, trying to get another look.
The blob seemed to have two colors; a light tan--skin tone, Isabelle assumed--and brown. Both of the colors were muted due to the darkness outside. She tapped on the window, trying to message that she was coming down. She didn’t know who--or what--was down there, but she quickly tapped on the glass before creeping out her door, slowly opening it, trying not to creak it too much.
When she got down to the door, she hesitated. What time is it? She glanced around; the front door was in a narrow hallway with various doors, and one open archway with cream-colored sofas and bookshelves. There was a clock on one of the bookshelves, and she glanced at the clock. She could barely make out the time, but it appeared to be 5:32. Who would possibly be throwing rocks at my window at five in the morning? Caroline? Noelle? She reached for the door handle, trying to stand on her tippy toes to look in the peeper hole (as Izzy had called it.), but Isabelle, three feet and ten years old, couldn’t reach. She sighed. She wished she could grow taller. Puberty, unfortunately for the little girl, hadn’t yet affected her.
She snapped out of her thinking trance and firmly gripped the door handle, turning the handle and hearing the familiar click of the door. Nobody was outside. There was just someone ..? Isabelle stepped outside, glancing around. The porch light came on. Was it not on earlier? She could have sworn she had seen a person. She sighed, stepping back into the house. It couldn't have been my imagination--I had actually heard a thunk. She slowly crept back up into her room. I guess I’m just tired.
And that's when the nightmares started. She had crept back into her room and let sleep's sweet, comfortable allure take her consciousness. She almost immediately got put into a nightmare.
She had 'woken up' on a different bed than hers. Completely unaware that it was not real, Isabelle stood up. She didn't know where she was, but there was a weird flapping sound. Was that a shadow she saw in the window? Or a shadow in the corner ... Suddenly, she was ambushed by the thing making the weird flapping sound; some sort of bird. A nightmarishly black bird clawing at her head, pecking at her face. She couldn’t see anything, and stumbled backward onto the bed, trying to duck for cover. Her ambusher was not restless, it continued on and on, until eventually forcing pressure onto her. She felt like she couldn’t breathe, and as she wasted her last breath on a scream ...
Isabelle woke up suddenly, breathing heavily. She glanced at the clock in her room. eight...eight thirty-five. She gasped for air, staring up at the ceiling. That was a horrible dream... She stood up, stretching.
As usual, her mother burst into her room and put on her best sweet face and tried to act nice to her daughter. “Come on, Isabelle sweety, let’s go.” Isabelle could see through the tone though, as she had experienced this every day. Her mother stared down at her phone, glancing up at the staring Izzy. “I said let’s go.” She said, her voice dripping with hatred. And off goes the illusion. Isabelle sighs and follows her mother out the door and into the car.
The drive wasn’t that far, and it was a drive Isabelle knew well. She knew how many trees they passed, how many houses and how long it usually took. They had taken this route many times before, at least for five years. Isabelle wanted to roll down her window and enjoy the hot summer air, the air that was not troubled with a single cloud. When they arrived at the dreadful destination, Isabelle could feel something was wrong. A cloud of gloom, although not physical, lingered over the pizzeria, making it look older than it was.
Isabelle’s mom didn’t even look at her daughter. She didn’t even say anything either, as it was expected of Isabelle to know the routine. Isabelle slammed the car door behind her, even though it was not her intention. She just felt a little annoyed, and while this is not an uncommon emotion for the girl, she knew to be careful around her mother and her new car.
Her mother looked like she was about to blow smoke out of her ears.
“You-! Do you know how much this car was-?! You can’t go slamming the door! You’re gonna end up slamming the door off!” Isabelle’s mom yelled out the window. Isabelle sighed, ignoring her and going inside.
“Beary’s fun pizzeria, where family fun and imagination come to life!” The PA system repeated at the entrace of the pizzeria. Glancing up at the half illuminated worn down neon sign with all of the animatronics, Isabelle opened the doors, trying to ignore the looming feel of dread. Her friends--the considered ‘odd’ bunch at school, as they would keep to themselves--greeted her with smiling faces. Well, most of them.
Caroline, who had been watching through the window, muttered to herself. “...i just wanna slap that idiot...” Noelle hugged Isabelle with obvious hesitation. Noelle hadn’t really liked Isabelle, but Caroline wouldn’t have let her ignore the girl. Noelle didn’t even know why she was still in the group, she could’ve left a long time ago. Jeremiah waved and Isabelle, and she smiled back.
Something caught her eye, and she glanced around. A familiar blur of brown and tan flittered through the arcade machines that were nearby, and she was reminded of last night. She shivered but looked away. The usual birthday song was playing on the speakers, and the usual lights were flashing and the usual game noises were playing. Everything was normal. She couldn’t shake off this feel of dread though, like a storm was about to happen.
If a storm did happen, here came the unsual silence before. The birthday song was done, Isabelle noticed, and no more sounds played. An erie silence, then a roar of thunder. And the children were quickly ushered out of the pizzeria along with an angry mobof adults and children alike. “Sorry, kids!” One of the staff members said. “The pizzeria has closed due to-” Hesitance. Isabelle could tell the staff member was trying to come up with an excuse. “-maintenance.”
“Hey! What?” Caroline protested. “We just got here!” Murmurs arose from the crowd.
“...is it true...”
“...did it actually...”
“...kids...”
Isabelle tried to listen, but there were too many voices. “We’ll get back to the usual opening time soon folks!” The staff member said, before disappearing into the pizzeria and locking the building with a click that worried Isabelle. She sighed. “Now what? We can’t go anywhere, my mom’ll kill me. And you know how she is.” Noelle, in response, grumbled something under her breath, something like a “good” or “go then”, Isabelle wasn’t sure.
“The question isn’t now what, it's ‘how what’ “
“...Caroline, that doesn’t make sense.”
“You get the point.”
“We really don’t-”
Caroline huffed, looking down at Isabelle. “I meant ‘how do we get back in’.”
“...But they’re closed..?”
“So we break in.”
“Why...should we break in?”
“Because we were promised a fun day, we’ll get the fun day.”
“There’s staff inside though-?”
“Then we go at night. Usually nobody is here at night besides a nightguard manning an office.”
While how Caroline got this information worried Isabelle, she agreed and nodded. “Okay. Sure, I guess we’re doing that.” Isabelle couldn’t really protest against the older girl. She waited at the curb for her mother’s car to pull up, and when she did Isabelle got in silently and watched as Caroline and Jeremiah waved. Noelle didn’t really do anything besides stare at Isabelle with a cold look on her face.
“Why are you still hanging out with them.” Isabelle’s mother said, starting to go on a rant. “I told you to stay away from them, they’re troublemakers ruining my perfect girl. And why were you waiting outside? I’ve told you to wait inside, and I’ll come get you. You could’ve gotten kidnapped!” She started raising her voice. “Do you know how much of a hassle it takes to call the police for a missing person report? Do you think we have that time?? It’s already a hassle to drop you off and pick you up!” She yelled, continuing on. “I have work eight-fifty to six! I was late for work this morning because of you!”
Isabelle sighed. She didn’t care. She only cared about her friends. She loathed her parents.
But her mother went on. “Don’t you sigh and roll your eyes at me young lady! It's even more of a hassle that I have to take care of you, you ungrateful brat!” She was like this the rest of the car ride, even at home she rambled on. Isabelle barely got some peace and quiet in her room and eventually fell asleep.
She wasn’t seeing through her own eyes, she was seeing through somebody else’s. She wasn’t even in control of the persons body, it all just played out like a movie to her. There was a man--no, a thing. Isabelle couldn’t tell if it was a person at all. It looked ugly, all mangled up into scorched-amber skin. Hands reached out infront of her to the thing, and while Isabelle’s eyes were adjusting to the dim light of what seemed to be a hospital room, she could make out the shape of a needle, filled with liquid.
It all happened in a flash. She--no, not Isabelle. The person whose eyes she was observing through--was knocked onto her feet, and only a memory of a color remained. A faded green. The person stood up and glanced around, then back at the thing on the hopsital bed. And tried again with the needle, but to no avail and was knocked off of her feet by what seemed to be a little boy.
Isabelle woke up to her set alarm, the brash beep beep of her alarm shook her from sleep. She wanted to go back to sleep, as she still felt tired, but then again she didn’t want to. She had promised Caroline she was going to go to the pizzeria with the rest of everyone now. She was not one to break promises.
She crept downstairs and listened to see if her mother was awake. She didn’t hear a sound, except a whisper in her ear. “be...careful...” Isabelle whirred around, glancing for the source of the words. She found nobody.
She continued going downstairs, and opened the front door. She shivered due to the cold before going to grab her bike, which was near the garage door that held her parents precious cars. She climbed on, reassuring herself it’ll be okay, then pedaled off.

Isabelle looked at Caroline, nodding. They couldn't back out now. Caroline had a plan to get in and out, which again concerned Isabelle. But she didn't question the people older than her.
She's smarter than me. Isabelle kept reassuring herself as she followed behind Caroline to get into the building. She wouldn't want to harm me.
The lights of the pizzeria were off.
There were no noises, nothing.
Isabelle had to let her eyes readjust, but all she could see were blobs.
Again, if this was a storm ... Well, this was just before the major impact.
Isabelle broke the weary silence. "Hide and seek?" She suggested.
Noelle opened her mouth to say something, most likely something against the young child, but Caroline interrupted her. "That's a child's game."
"Well I'm sorry that I hang out with kids older than me. I can just leave and never talk to you again." Isabelle replied, huffing. Caroline chuckled. " 's not what I meant, but sure then. Hide and seek."
Isabelle nodded. "And you're counting!" She said, then ran off.
"What? Hey! I never agreed to that!" Caroline yelled after Isabelle, but started counting anyway.
**********
It all happened so fast, Isabelle's mind was--and still is--a blur. She remembers the faded pink color of an animatronic and pitch black.
A sound of machinery clicking, and the stomach hatch closed. She stared at the stomach hatch from the inside. It's not supposed to close. It's supposed to stay open, so Caroline can easily find me. She tried pushing the hatch, banging her fist on it, and feeling around the inside for a lever, a button, something.
Nothing.
Pitch black.
Nobody ever came.
Sure, the girl could hear yells from the outside. But when she screamed for help, nobody came. Nobody cared. She felt so isolated from life that she found herself questioning everything.
No food and water can do stuff to one's mind.
She would've gone crazy if she hadn't felt the water droplets.
She would've gone crazy if she didn't feel the grinding of the machinery.
She would've gone crazy if she didn't feel her blood.
Sure, she felt the pain. But it was something in the back of her head, like an ache that wouldn't go away. And as soon as she saw the blood, she knew her situation was fatal.
And then ... Nothing really happened after that. She could feel herself existing. She could feel herself, but she couldn't feel anything else.
That was that, until 2 weeks later.
**********
Silver eyes glowed in the dark of night.
The soul could feel, but was not free.
Forced to roam the earth within a spring lock grave.
Forced to kill, to take endless revenge, to feel herself slipping more and more from reality by the second. By the days, by the weeks. No insanity left except childish thoughts.
The end. No, not a good story?
Oh, don't worry.
The next one is happy. :)
Kayla Harris glanced up and the animatronics before her, then back to her notebook. She cursed her attention span, for the pizzeria was too loud and crowded, before looking around. Nobody was watching her. Her parents were probably off doing some smoochy thing--Disgusting. Kayla thought. Love is disgusting. Children are disgusting.--and weren’t paying attention to their own kid. They didn’t pay attention to her that much anymore, not after her baby brother was born.
It seemed like they were always near the baby. Always cradling him, always sitting next to him, always clapping for him whenever he babbled nonsense. Kayla had gotten used to attention for the 12 ½ years she had been alive, and to have this love pulled away from her so suddenly made her stomach churn.
Kayla was much smarter than that baby. After all, she had entered her last year of middle school; which was a feat considering how young she was. She was currently taking some classes she thought would make her smarter. After all, she wanted to have a career path in business. She was currently taking robotics and a writing class, along with an accelerated math class.
She had all A’s too. Something worth celebrating. If only her parents listened to her. All that disgusting baby does is throw up all the time! I deserve more attention than him. Kayla cursed under her breath.
She had a perfect life, and she wanted one so badly now. She stood up straight, glancing around. Kayla was taller than everyone in her class, and kids complimented her saying she could be on the basketball team. While she loved being the center of attention at home, she hated it at school.
Kayla was what you could consider a ‘loner’ kid. She didn’t really hang out with anyone in her free time. Nobody really wanted to be friends with her, and if she had friends she would gradually push them away for her studies. Her old friends had learned that.
She had asked her robotics teacher prior to coming to the pizzeria if there was any extra credit. Her teacher shook her head, but Kayla was determined for extra credit. So here she was, at Beary’s Pizzeria, taking notes on the way the animatronics moved. She wanted to go backstage, but when she had asked a staff member they had denied her access.
She glanced up at the white wolf animatronic in front of her. If only I could get a closer look... Kayla glanced around again. There were barely any other people around this side stage, there was probably something going on in the main party room. Kayla didn’t care too much for entertainment. She found entertainment in her studies, learning about new things and reinforcing her knowledge.
The albino wolf animatronic jerked in front of Kayla and she took a step back. I don’t believe it was supposed to do that. She looked behind her. There was one staff member distinguished by the dreadfully cheer that was the employee’s uniform. Kayla would not want to be found in one of those dead or alive. There was a hat with golden bear ears to match the main singer. That’s the only thing all the uniforms had in common. There was gender segregation for these ugly uniforms that Kayla had noted at her first time in this dreadfully loud place.
She had taken mental notes that the male uniforms usually consisted of t-shirts with art of the band, and the females had an apron with the same design and a black mini skirt. The females were unusually cheerful.
There was one female though that wore a male outfit and that confused Kayla’s challenged mind.
Kayla shook her head. Now’s not the time to inference. She reminded herself why she was here in the first place. The animatronic. I need to get a closer look. The way the animatronic danced and moved intrigued her, and she would not stop unless she got what she was looking for. Information. A better understanding of the technological advancements that humans have made.
She just had to get a closer look. She stood up straighter than before, and reached a hand out to the robot.
Then Kayla was pulled back. “Now, Kayla, young lady, just what do you think you’re doing?” Her mothers soft voice rang out like a bell. Kayla had once loved this voice, but now she thought it was annoying. “You’re in a lot of trouble young lady.” Her fathers strict voice said. The baby in his arms babbled random nonsense.
“It’s for notes!” Kayla exclaimed, showing her parents her notebook. “That is not how a young lady should behave. This place is very dangerous, and you wandered away from us!”
“But-”
“No buts Kayla. We’re going home now.”
“My notes aren’t finished!” But her parents ignored her. The baby laughed, and her parents cooed at him. Kayla rolled her eyes. “Why do we have to leave now?”
“It’s nappy time isn’t it?” Her parents ignored her again. They cooed and tried to mimic the babies' weird babbles.
Kayla sighed dramatically. Then she got an idea. “I have to go to the b-bathroom.” Kayla stuttered, lying. She stuttered whenever she lied. It was so obvious that she was sure her parents would deny, but her mother nodded. “Go ahead then sweetie, we’ll be waiting in the car.”
Kayla turned around the corner, shaking. If her parents found out, it would be fatal to her reputation. Her parents would always think she was lying, and ... Kayla shook her head. She didn’t want to think about it right now. She had to think about the present.
The past is behind us, the future hasn’t happened. The present is a gift, that is why it is called the present. Kayla recited in her head. “Gift. Present is a gift” She whispered underneath her breath, hiding out in the bathroom and counting to 120 in her head. She was sure her parents were laughing with the baby in the car by now, so she got out of the bathroom and left.
She approached the stage.
The animatronic’s eyes glistened in the dim lights.
The fur looked so soft.
Kayla reached her hand out.
The rest happened so quickly.
The animatronic swiveled towards Kayla, looking down at her.
It swung its fist down, and Kayla was sure it was just a coincidence that she happened to meet the fist. It felt soft for a moment, for just barely a second. And then it felt hard as it swung down on her head.
And it never stopped. Kayla eventually dropped to the floor, screaming and crying. Her head hurt. She touched the top of her head with a shaky hand, and felt blood.
She choked on a sob. How could I be so stupid? She could barely hear anything, barely see anything. Everything was a blur. All the sounds mixed together in her ears, making her overstimulated.
She could make out a shape of a man, and could hear footsteps, before feeling another surge of pain. She felt herself being picked up, and tried to move her head. She couldn’t.
From where Kayla’s head was positioned, she could see something glistening near her chest. No. On her chest. She closed her eyes, trying to see if this was all just a dream. If she would wake up.
She did wake up, but not where she thought she would. Instead of being in the comfort of her own bed, she could feel her own body moving by itself. No, it wasn’t her body. It felt different. Like she was taller.
Her head swiveled to a familiar party table, stopping to look at it. There was a man holding something ... Holding someone.
Thats when she recognized the hair of the somebody the man was holding. Dirty blonde.
She had died.
But why was she in this new body, and what even was this new body?
All I can say is that she gets to study the robot up close.
And what happened to her parents and her baby brother, you ask?
Morganne booped the baby’s nose, giggling. “You’re such a cutie pie!”
Kayden, her husband who was driving, looked worried for a moment. “Honey, are we forgetting something?”
“Maybe we left his binky at the pizzeria?”
“Maybe.” Kayden didn’t say anything more.
“You look just like your father!” Morganne cooed to the baby seated behind her. Hopefully he’ll fall asleep on the car ride home.
And thats the end of Kayla’s tale.
... What? “That wasn’t a happy story!” you say? Well, it was happy in the beginning. That good enough?
Why are you blaming me? Death is fun to write! This is a five nights at freddy’s fanfic. Did you expect Kayla not to die?
Well, anyway, the next tale ... “won’t be happy” You guessed it. :)
