Pokemon in party vs storage

I recently realized that Pokémon in the storage can be interacted with like any other Pokémon... so what exactly is the difference between the party and the storage? Is there some advantage, like Pokémon in the party have a higher chance of showing up in clicklists or something? Or should I just put all my pokes straight in the box so I have more space for eggs?

Pokémon in your party show up more in clicklists and allow eggs... Storage boxes are for well, storage.
