Hey, everyone. I’m playing Ruby on my GBA after finally catching Latios yesterday, and I’m wondering how I should EV train it. It ended up having a Jolly nature, so I’ve already used up 253 EVs on its Sp. Attack to max it out and hopefully counter that bad nature, but I don’t know how I should use the other 257 EVs I have left.

I don’t know if I’m getting this right, but it seems to me, looking at Latios’ max stats on Serebii for its Defense and Sp. Defense, I would need to use 240 EVs on its Defense to make it as good as Latios’ Sp. Defense. And that’s what I was thinking of doing. Does that seem like a good idea?

I’m looking forward to seeing any advice people might have for me, or just a general discussion of EV training since I’m new to this, having only EV trained 5 Pokémon (all of them in Y on my 3DS) before this.

Well, since no one responded after more than a day, I decided to go ahead and start EV training Defense. I just finished the first round, so Latios has 253 Sp. Attack EVs and 35 Defense EVs so far.

I’m pretty disappointed that no one responded... This is actually a special event for me because this save file of mine is one that I’ve had since I was just 4 years old. I believe that this copy of Ruby on this very cobalt blue GBA SP was my introduction to Pokémon, back when my brain had only just developed enough to start forming memories. And Latios was the very last legendary I had to catch, the last thing I felt I needed to do to finally finish the game that feels so important to the roots of who I am, after all these years. So I was just hoping to get to share some of this experience with other people who might feel the same passion I do.
