does the eggs from daycare share species with any of the parents or just the male or female?

If you have two different (compatible) pokémon in the DayCare, the Egg can contain either pokémon. A Tauros and a Miltank will give you both Tauros and Miltank Eggs.
[obvious exception is Ditto, of course. If you breed with Ditto, it'll always be the other pokémon in the Egg]
