Wonder trade glitch

I noticed that during the last wonder trade only 2/3 pokemon got swapped. The 3rd pokemon, a ponyta, did not get traded. Instead of this being traded, it was released at the exact time it should have been traded. Is this normal or should I still have a ponyta sitting in my box?

The pokémon are swapped a few seconds before the notification, so it's possible the Ponyta got swapped and then released by the new owner, before the notification was sent out.
Or you got a code for it? If it's not shiny, the pokémon is taken in exchange for the code.

Thanks for the reply, had a bit of confusion with it since it was a normal trade. i was not aware that the pokemon was taken in place of a code (and it happened i got lucky and the notification for this was delayed)
