Is there battles and exploring options in this game?

PH does have a battling mechanic, though it's very simplified and most likely disappointing if you're looking for battles similar to the official games.

In order to battle in PH, you first have to buy the VS. Seeker from the Item Shop. From the Home tab, you can then set up your Battle Team and challenge other users from the VS. Seeker.

You can only battle other users and most users probably won't appreciate a random battle request, so it'd most likely be best to find people to battle at the Fight Area. However, as you can see, it's not a very active subforum. Battling isn't really something people play PH for so your time might be better spent elsewhere if that's your main draw to pokemon.
