So I'm going fishing with my dad and brothers today, but I've been having really conflicting feelings about it. On the one hand, I want to participate. On the other hand, as a vegetarian, I don't want to act hypocritically -- not because anyone else cares, I just want to feel confident in my own decisions.

I went vegetarian originally because I can't stand the way we produce our meat, as an act of protest I guess. I don't necessarily have a problem with eating meat itself. That said, would it be totally hypocritical to go fishing? Also, since anything we catch we will invariably keep and eat (or my family will anyways), if I catch something I feel I will be complicit in the death of this animal, which makes me responsible for making sure that doesn't go to waste, i.e. eating it.

There's just a lot of moral grey area here and I would appreciate any thoughts.

Oh, that's a great idea! I love fishing, but I can't always go.

My husband is also a fisherman! He goes to the lake every weekend. Sometimes I joke with him that he will move from me to the fish)) There is no longer room for spinning rods and gear in the garage. So he bought a tent the other day! He wants to go overnight when it's warm. Now everything can be ordered through online stores, he chooses everything himself. He also has an everest caliber membership with additional discounts. He says don’t worry, I don’t spend a lot of money on this)) Well, I know how much everything costs approximately))
