Monokuma ceded under each blow. Every time she hit him, it hit his hard, robotic center. His words gurgled and blurred together. "I... n't... recommendthatSuzume...Master...nd...wonlikemeneedinrepairs." Internal wires burst and he fell back.
A new Monokuma popped up.
"You got rid of our top model," it complained. "So mean, Suzume. We might just have to kill you next time! Puhuhuhu~ This is the only one that can be remotely as annoying to you all! And think of replacing all those memory banks." It pouted. "Guess we gotta get some repairs done!"
It gave a salute and dropped through a trapdoor with the old Monokuma.
Hisoka jerked upwards. "Show me," he demanded. He staggered over to Kowai, and practically collapsed against the wall. Clarity pierced through those twisted, melting amber eyes. "It says... 'They lied'." He glanced back at Suko, who was collapsed on the ground. "And something about 'Amano'. Ah-"
There was something else by the wall.
A bat was propped up. The kind baseball was played with.
Hisoka touched it. His brow furrowed. "The smoke is worsening my headache..." he mumbled. "I'm going to die of lung cancer, probably..."

"Everything is going to be okay."
Hisoka Yamanaku
There was a strange fuzzy feeling. As if a blanket were descending over his head, and then being yanked up and down over and over again, like some sadistic parent who refused to let their child sleep.
A sadistic parent.
His brow furrowed.
Like... the bear. Yes, that was the analogy he was looking for. The sadistic bear who claimed to be their father but forced them to kill one another. Kill one another, like Femi-
He shook his head.
And then a blanket of guilt and shame collapsed onto his shoulders.
Niwa Atsushi
Niwa knelt next to Kowai, only too aware of how close she was. It made him shudder. "It's probably fake wood," he muttered. "Doesn't seem like the fire lasted very long. Hm." He glanced at her.

Keiki couldn't speak. Another had fallen. A good person, in Keiki's eyes. They didn't know Femi too well, but they knew them well enough to mourn the loss of a friend. Their eyes watered. Femi....was dead. Burnt. Charred.
Who could do this? What kind of sick, twisted mind would do this to a kind soul like Femi? They shuffled over to Suko.
"Suko-" They choked out. "I'm- so, so, so sorry. My apologies can't do anything- I know. It's the least I can do. I can't believe this has happened, to Femi as well. He didn't deserve this. I'll help you find the killer, and make sure they pay. Suko?"
Third Person POV
Suko didn't respond. They didn't even get up off the floor. They just... lay there. Like an inanimate object. Something strewn aside.
Tears trickled down their face.
"Keiki," Niwa whispered. "We only have half an hour for the investigation." He faltered, glancing at Suko. "If we don't do it in time, more people will die... Us included."
Niwa Atsushi
"Let's leave the crime scene to the others. Hisoka's good at stuff like this. And I think everyone else will focus on it." Niwa nibbled on his bottom lip thoughtfully. "What if we searched the surrounding rooms? Or-" He hesitated. "Maybe we should just focus on the Party Room in general. The Killer had to be there, right? Maybe they left something..."
It sounded weak.
Femi.
Someone else dead. Koda's stomach tightened with disgust and unhappiness. I can't even imagine how Suko feels. Moonling mumbled. She had to stop herself from retching at the lingering smell. Tears threatened to spring, like cats preying on mice.
I felt my mood shift. It didn't quite change, it was more like the emotion, the pain, the flaws, were all blocked. "Let's investigate then. No one deserves to get away with murder." Two words echoed in my mind. No one no one no one no one

At last, the smoke- and Hisoka's head- were starting to clear. He studied the room with more intensity than before. The entirety of the ground was scorched. The letters carved into the wall were clean of ash. The door had been closed. And as far as he'd known, there shouldn't have been any other way out for the killer...
He let his head loll a bit, staring up at the ceiling. So what, then? Had Femi killed himself? Had a trap been laid and burned away? Had the killer somehow managed to get inside- and then get out while the place was on fire?
Because he was certain it had all gone up at once...
He was humming without realizing it. Hmm. Nice sound... very nice sound...
And then he knew what he had to do.
He straightened up. "Maji," he said. "You stay in here. Examine the room- and the body." He fought to keep his eyes off the charred remains of Femi Davis. "I have something... I need to do. Okay?"
Suko gazed emptily at the ground. Hisoka glanced briefly at them. "I'll need a partner. For my alibi as well as my safety. Can you come with me, Buraddo?"
Niwa Atsushi
Everyone was crying. Niwa felt vaguely alienated. This didn't even feel too real, honestly... Femi was dead. And Suko was crying.
And Keiki too.

And Hisoka and Buraddo proceeded to leave the room. The rest of the Ultimates stood there, in grim comradery. But they all knew one thing.
The murderer was inside of the Beach House.
Time ticked by. Evidence was gathered and collected. But there was little to be found. Some shards of glass on the party room floor. Clean, unburnt corners. But incredibly oddly, Femi's bag was wrapped around him. Was there any reason he might have needed it? The contents were burnt to a crisp.
Femi's features revealed nothing.
"Dingdong, dingdong! Time's up!" Monokuma popped up. "I'm your substitute Monokuma, and I'm here to jumpstart the class trial! Don't worry! Puhuhuh~ I'll be the best sub you'll ever have. In that I'll expedite the entire trial and take away half an hour of your time!"
It beamed.
This was punishment, obviously. Regardless of what the Monokuma said, the mastermind was punishing Suzume for damaging the old one; and doing so in the worst way possible, by turning all the Ultimates against her.
Hisoka emerged in the room, a slip of paper undee his arm. He gestured Buraddo forward and crossed his arms. "Well then. I suppose it's time."
Third Person POV
Suko nodded mutely. A dim look had spread theough their eyes. They looked empty. Hollow, even. As if all the spirit that had previously lurked in that body had evaporated with the smoke from the Party Room.
...though it was obviously not the fire that had done it.
SMASH!
The end of the hall burst into a million pieces. An elevator stared at them.
Hisoka headed for it first. Niwa followed him.
Suko just stared at Koda.
Suzume Fujimori's POV
Only time would tell if she would succeed. Time that was increasingly burning away, disintegrating to ashes.

"Everything is going to be okay."

Everyone was gathering in the elevator. All except-
Suko.
Had no one noticed them? No, that wasn't true- everyone had. They were just- choosing to veer clear. Did they really believe Suko had killed Femi? Or were they just had selfish that they didn't care?
Niwa and Keiki entered. Hisoka walked out. He crouched by Suko's side and offered a hand. Suko's eyes slowly lifted to Hisoka's face.
"Hey," he whispered. "We need to get to the trial room." Suko didn't reply. "You need to come. Or else you'll die- like Femi."
An unexpected flash of fear went through Suko's eyes. They snatched Hisoka's hand without a word and collapsed on his side. Hisoka nearly stumbled, but he managed to get a grip on Suko's shoulder. Together, the two hobbled to the elevator.
Together.
Why had it taken Hisoka so long...?

"It's time," Niwa murmured.
