"Niwa-" Keiki began. "..Fine. I promise. But you have to promise as well, 'kay? It's not worth it without you here."
"Let's- let's just get this funeral over with...then we can discuss this again. I don't really wanna talk about this now."
Niwa Atsushi
"If I must," Niwa muttered.
The two hobbled to the Theatre Room. They had a difficult time on the stairs, but managed to get up without serious incident.
"I think I can go on, now. On my own." A fresh layer of sweat coated Niwa's face. He was breathing hard. "You can... let me go... now."
Suzume Fujimori's POV
Ultimate Romantic, right? Someone entirely devoted to making other people happy. He would have wanted us to find some kind of light, to be happy, to make it out of here somehow.
Staring mournfully at the floor, she accidentally asked it aloud: "Is that even possible...?"

"Everything is going to be okay."
Hisoka Yamanaku
Some girl's voice came back to him. His mom or sister, maybe. He couldn't hear the words, but he knew what they were saying.
Tell them. Who she was, and what she meant to you.
"She," he said quietly. "Was a fighter." He looked at her- at her neat uniform, and arched smile. She looked sweet, and soft, her braids falling past her shoulders.
Her face wasn't true.
But.. everything else was.
"She told the truth. She could look someone in the eye and spit at them. She was a fighter- and she was a survivor. I didn't believe it was her at first- but that was my mistake in perception. Because she wanted, more than anything, to be true to herself. And her choices were always that."
He paused, trying to get his thoughts in order. Maybe it was disrespectful to Nagisa- to speak of her death as a casualty to Chika's soulfulness.
"But in any case, whoever she was, she mattered to me. Her death changed me. And I am forever sorry to those who remained unaltered- who had never met her before her death."
Death was a cruel thing. It wrapped arounf you and dragged you back, no matter how you pulled. Even fighting it, as Chika had, it had caught her.
It would catch everyone one day.
Sometimes, the distance to that gaping mouth was just a little less for some people.
He stepped back. Akihiro, next, I guess.

He shook off Keiki and took a step forward. The pain in his eye made it hard to think. "I'm the only one who gets to talk about her," he bit out, glaring at Hisoka.
Hisoka stared calmly back. "Then please do so."
"Redmonda was- well, she couldn't have been held accountable for what she did. She was fragile and confused. She was innocent. I learned that."
Unlike you, he thought venomously.
"Anyway, yeah. She- I cared for her plants after she died. I protected and saved them, as no one else bothered to do. That's all."
He collapsed onto Keiki, as soon as the eyes turned away from him.
"Does anyone... want to comment on Amano?" Hisoka asked quietly.
Suzume Fujimori's POV
She was a bit shaken by Niwa's outburst.
"Amano... I'm not sure what to feel about him. His intentions seemed good though... he tried to keep order here. He tried to keep everything and everyone together. But it's clear Nagisa's death shattered him..."
She cursed to herself, that she hadn't been able to protect him. She hadn't been close to him, that's true.
But it feels like... I failed them all.
"It feels like... when he died, all order died with him. He tried his best, in all that he did. I can't deny that."

Hisoka nodded shakily. "Yeah."
But deep inside, he was thinking thoughts of his own about Amano. He hadn't liked the man- He wasn't as aware of his surroundings as he should have been, he wasn't as moral as he tried to be. But Amano had been someone to Hisoka. Someone who told him he was wrong, simply by living.
By refusing to play Monokuma's games, until that very stubbornness took him out.
But that wasn't about Amano. That was about Hisoka.
He was tired of everything being about him. There was an entire world around them. And everyone else's words warmed his heart. They hadn't known each other long- but they'd still known each other. And now was the time to remember those lost moments.
Lost loves, lost families, lost friends. This was what this trial was dedicated to.
Everyone deserved a chance to speak for their loved ones.
"I'll... skip Femi." he said quietly. "It feels disrespectful to do so. When his partner is not here to speak for him."
Suko Nobu
Suko sat, staring at Femi's wall, and thinking about the owner of it. His grimace, his smile, the way his hair settled about his shoulders- the crunch of the flower crown beneath his feet. The fleeting touch of a dance, hand brushing against hand.
Oh.
Femi...
They couldn't put him in words, but feelings. Because Femi had chosen to close their hands together. Had chosen to smile at them, and ask them to live. He'd chosen to love Suko, and done it because he liked them.
Suko had just been themself.
And yet, Femi had liked them, dead and all.
They closed their eyes, tears trickling down their face. The sound of music rolled from the floor above. The funeral must be happening.
"I'm sorry I'm not there for you now, Femi," they whispered. "I'm so sorry..."
Suzume Fujimori's POV
She nodded, and swallowed. The darkness wasn't subsiding...
"Yeah... you're right. I wonder if Suko's okay..." She hung her head. "So it's... on to..."
Oh.
Something in her shattered.
Kowai Kurai.
The cold, harsh, seething hatred, a frost that settled upon her in coldness, of the lowest degrees, for that name. For that person. ...what could she say?
Her lips couldn't form words. That... that person.

Suzume Fujimori's POV
She stared at the photos... her, Megami, Maji, Buraddo, first starting their alliance. Megami, giving her her food. Her skepticism at it. Her, carrying Megami. Comforting her... and the other way around too.
The confession... in their dorm room. The date in the library... the spilled hot chocolate...
And the serenade... during Musical Chairs...
"Megami," she choked out. "Oh... Megami..." She clutched the notebook and note tightly to her chest. "I... I loved her. I still do. She meant... and still means -- everything. Everything to me. She was so, so smart, and... she was kind, and... she cared when no one else did. She had a way-- with music. She was so brilliant, so perceptive. And... she was-- kind of emotionally fragile. She knew how to take charge. She was-- a really interesting person. I never knew, I-"
The droplets welled from her eyes, flew down her cheeks, and plopped onto the floor. "I never knew... she'd grow to mean everything to me. She was an ally, a friend, and so much more... she was... the love of my life."

No one would speak up. No one wanted to bring up Buraddo- not after the words she'd left Suzume with.
Hisoka closed his eyes and breathed in and out. "Buraddo-" he began. "Was a complicated person. I think she had too many secrets for us to know her well at all. She was always guarded- I never really got to know her, except- when she pointed things out at trials."
He sighed. "For a long time- I thought of her as being Megami's companion. I guess there was more to her than I ever knew. Like a lot of the people we've talked about today. We only knew them for a little while." He stared at the portrait. Buraddo's blue eyes stared back, challengingly, revealing nothing. "I wish we had just a bit longer."
Hisoka Yamanaku
"Maybe," he agreed. "In another world, though." He stared at the portraits. Nine dead teenagers smiled back. "Maybe we should eat. Celebrate."
