"Sure!" Koda tried desperately not to think of how Kowai had asked her the same thing before. Suko isn't Kowai, I can trust them.

Would staying with Koda doom her? Should they leave her alone-? No, Femi died because they did.

Something hit Suko like lightning and they stopped, their hand on the doorknob. They were shaking.

Did everyone die... because of me?

Suko released a shuddering breath. They could unpack that later. For now, everyone needed to be happy again.

"Yeah," they agreed, much too softly. "I'm fine. Let's go." They opened the door and gestured her through.

When they saw her eyes, wide with innocence, they saw someone else's. And they thought they might start crying again.

For a moment, Suko's chest tightened. They choked. Then air rushed back in, and they were okay again.

The two walked, hand in hand, to the cafeteria.

Hisoka and Maji met them along the way. More specifically, Suko and Koda turned a corner and smashed into them. Both Suko and Koda were sent tumbling head over heels.

Suko moaned, wriggling beneath Hisoka's evil elbows.

Koda hissed at Hisoka. If she were a cat, her fur would've spiked up in an instant.

She batted at Hisoka, pushing him away, all whilst looking at Suko with pure concern.

Suko struggled to push themself up. All the air had been knocked from their chest. At the very least, Hisoka-brat wasm't on them anymore. So. Breathing, yes.

Hisoka sat back, rubbing his head. "Be careful where you're going," he muttered.

Suko gave her their best grin, and got up. Hisoka matched them, helping Majikaruman up in turn. "Where're you two off to, at this early hour?"

Hisoka'a voice was lazy, but his gaze sharp as it landed on Suko.

Hisoka's eyes closed. "I apologize for disturbing you." For someone not much older than them, he looked very old. Tired, as if his very bones dragged him down. "We should go now."

"Yes," Suko said coldly. "Go."

Hisoka's eyes opened. He looked at Suko as if seeing them for the very first time.

"The first day we arrived. You were the only one not knocked unconscious."

Suko's inhaled sharply. "Koda, let's go."

Hisoka didn't seem to notice. His eyes were locked on Suko. "You know what I'm accusing you of," he said softly. "You've known since we first met that I'd know. That I'd figure it out. That's why you had-"

"That's enough." Suko glanced at Koda. "Koda, let's go eat. I'm hungry."

"We will eat as well." And the tension in the air dissipated.

Koda huffed, shuffling slightly closer to Suko. She clenched then unclenched her fist, sighing. She again placed her hand on Suko's shoulder, attempting to smile, in her odd way. She gave up and gently butted her head into their shoulder instead.

The four arriver at the cafeteria. It was dead silent.
