Adrik sat in a chair in the back, his normally messy hair in a
state of dishevelment and halfhazardly flung over his entire head.
He lifted his chin, undershadowed eyes watching the teacher like a
hawk, paying attention to every word and movement, despite his
obvious state of sleep deprivation.
Olive toyed with their hair, ignoring the teacher up front. Ugh.
The pains of sleeping late. They hadn't had time to put on
anything. They looked like a mess... how were they supposed
to make friends like this?
They worried their finger through the midnight blue curls. Should
they be paying attention? Talking to that cute girl next to them?
Introducing themself?

A proud teacher stood at the front of Room 11, the room of the
Advanced Course. "The key to multishifting is similar to the key to
multitasking. You have to be able to focus on multiple things at
once, in this case being changing different parts of your body into
different things." They demonstrated, making crab claws on their
hands and hawk wings on their back.
Adrik dutifully took notes, even though he was wailing internally.
Shifting? Techniques? He didn't even know how to change
into an animal, much less two!

"Students, watch a student example. Who would like to
demonstrate?"
Zuzu
I lisened to the teacher go on talking about techniques for
multishifting as I took notes and doodled. "The best technique...
and you just have to focus on... and the best way is to try... i'd
suggest the serpentine... do the arms next..."
"No volunteers? Sad, i'll have to pick at random."
Zuzu
I sat in my chair and listened to the teacher drone on. "Alright
kids, it'd independent practice time!" At the word independent, I
jumped up and got to work.
Hmmm, yes, cute girls. That was something which existed. But not
here. Now now. Olive gave a tragic sigh. How was one to make
friends in such a situation?
Practice. A long shudder went down Adrik's spine. Practice
on what, exactly? What could he get done? He tugged anxiously on
his scarf. It began to unravel and he hurriedly fixed the knot.
Perhaps...

Olive frowned. Uh oh. Nobody was talking. They glanced behind
themself- and their eyes landed on the teacher. Crap. The
teacher was too close. They were talking.

Olive leapt to their feet, and nearly tripped over their own desk
in the attempt to get out. Sorry! Sorry! they signed as they
awkwardly pulled their legs free from the chair.
