Arran poked his head around the corner. He blinked.
Dawn had lost interest in the remains of the abomination and was talking with the other Palismen.

"Byyeeee!" She said, before zipping off. One could think that bye sounded like a certain powerless witch who tried stealing Palismen once.

At least she wasn't caught in it, this time... Maybe her father would be proud of her, for being free for a day. She stiffened. Okay, maybe not that, but at least her record would be better...
They stood there for a second and decided to see what was happening so they got up and moved slowly toward Toshiko, the only person from the group whom they knew "Hey, Toshi!" They said as they got closer "What is happening here, what's with the detention? And more importantly, are you alright?"

"Everything is going to be okay."
Myran grumbled to themself. Grom? All the guys here were hideous. Not a male fairy in sight. Ew. Gross. Weird. Why were they being included?
Brooksook's cheeks went bright red at the mention of Grom and her sneer faded off her lips. "G-Grom-? Canceling detention-? For Grom?" She looked legitimately terrified. "And it's tonight?" She glanced at Zuzu and promptly glanced away.
Arran was wrestling with his useless palisman in the background and didn't seem to notice the children's terror.
What the heck did i do wrong? They thought while stepping away from Toshiko, and , as they took some distance, they realized that most people already had their palisman so , she decided to talk to the teacher, probably the only time she would do that willingly
"Hey , teach!" They screamed " I haven't gotten my palisman yet and i have no ideea what is happening around here , but it sure isn't palisman day anymore, so , i was wondering if i could just get a palisman and then maybe not go to detention since the whole thing has nothing to do with me this time?" They asked looking rather indifferent to the situation at hand.

"Everything is going to be okay."
Brooksook stormed off, not wasting a second. Stupid, stupid stupid- Her eyes flooded with tears and she angrily swiped them away. Now wasn't the time- She couldn't let this happen- not after everything-
Suddenly, she heard a noise and glanced behind herself. Her vulture was soaring after her, letting out distressed caws. She paused and waited for it. It landed on her shoulder and perched there. She continued walking. The hideous creature tilted its scarred head to the side and let out a hesitant squaawwwk?
Brooksook patted it gently on the head. "It's okay," she whispered. "It's okay, buddy?" She closed her eyes and exhaled a deep breath. "I'm just... a little scared right now."
The bird was watching her with beady black eyes. Hurriedly, she said, "It's really nothing... It's just the person I like... To ask them to Grom-" She snapped her mouth shut. She was rambling. "I'm sorry. You've probably been through so much, huh?"
The vulture pressed its beak to her cheek. She jumped a bit. "H-Huh?" The vulture's eyes were full of sympathy. "Oh-" It transformed into a staff in her hands. She stared down at it. "What's... that supposed to mean?"
She studied the carved eyes of the wooden creature. They appeared angry at first. Cold even. Scarred beyond belief. A creature who had seen too much, experienced too much. But deep in them, was a curve of kindness. A drop of warmth. A gift it had just offered to her.
She squeezed her hands around the stick. "Thank you," she whispered. She understood.
Brooksook could do this. She had to do this. And... no matter what happened, her palisman would be there for her.
Arran breakdanced.
