Alexander gave Genya a comforting bump. "I'll go with you," he whispered to her. "This... might not be what the past me would do... I feel that... but I feel like being with you is a part of who I am now."



Priya couldn't breathe. Everything was going in slow motion...

A whole class...? For Katie...? Everyone had to die...?



Isla paced around in a circle. Everybody? What did he mean-? How could such a thing be delivered? What did he really want? Where was he? He-

The boy I saw earlier, she realized.

How could he have gone far? How could he have grabbed a student?

She bit her tongue.

What was his power?




"Now now, my friends. Don't get all self-sacrificial now. It's not like I want to hurt you, persay. I'm not looking to harm any of you. We're friends, are we not? No, I simply need to go over you... decide which ones I'd like to ask a favour. Simple, is it not? A few moments of life from a few people in exchange for a girl's life. It might not even be you."

"Now now, Lin. No need to be rude. Friends don't treat friends like that." Suddenly, a hand seized Katie's hair. It was not Stacy's. "I don't underestimate you. You are all very strong in your own right, so I would prefer to do the exchange in the easiest way. Now, everyone who agrees to my terms will raise their right hand."

"What terms?" Adrik demanded.

They almost heard Stacy smile. "Agree first and I'll tell you."

Alexander gripped her hands right back, then released and raised his right hand.

After a moment of hesitation, Adrik raised his.



Isla bit her tongue. Should she do it...? She couldn't figure out where he was... but this was obviously a trap. Was she strong enough to fight against several unknowns in their own territory and advantage?

Her teeth ground together. Yes, she was. She raised her right hand.



Seara bristled all over. What's that freak implying? I'll beat him into the ground- They would not raise their hand. They would crush him and take the girl back themself. Coward. He can't be too tough if he's taking a hostage.

Katie woke up. "Waffles with wings? Whoaaaa. I had no idea that was possible! Hey, wait, what's going on?" She glanced around, clearly confused.

Gisela's POV


Gisela yawned. She really couldn't care less for Katie, or anyone else here. "Nope. Don't care. Can this be over now?"

Kendall's POV


Oh no. Not that random girl. Kendall didn't really personally know her, but he wasn't about to watch her die! Still... was he sure he wanted to agree to this? No. He couldn't not help someone in need, if he could do something. "I... I agree." He raised his hand.
