I would like to be able to quickly see the thread title of a post returned by the search function so that I can easily tell what the post should approximately be about.

Detailed Use Case

While attempting to make a different suggestion, I was trying to find if it has already been suggested, per

Do the research, Mods are not your personal search engine.

The search function isn't as useful as I would like it to be. In order to help see related suggestions more easily, adding the thread title to the search results would be useful. Currently, in order to tell what thread the search result is in, I have to click the read more button and look for the original post. This is very tedious when I'm searching a word that is in a lot of posts.

How?

I would suggest adding the title right above the post, like any other header.

Here's my gut feeling as a software developer. If you're already navigating through each thread(with SQL or otherwise) to search all posts in a thread, returning the title should be a fairly easy addition since you're already going through the table with that meta data. However, if you're just querying a "posts" table that doesn't include thread meta info, then performance might be a consideration and I'll leave that up to your capable team to decide if this is worth it :)

I'm surprised no one else has posted here since the thread was made. Anyway, I fully support this. In the same vein, having the search results be ordered by most recent would be very useful too.

I hope this gets approved because the search function really is a pain in its current state :(
