Ichon sighed. "While that does help, you can't run everywhere. Eventually, you'll get tired, and you're going to be working a lot. I'll teach you how to mount a horse, and I think the horse can do the rest for you." Beckoning, he turned and started walking deeper into the stable.


Slightly put off, the stares in Avari's direction stopped coming, but there were a few butchers who looked enviously at the kill.

Walking pridefully past the butchers, Avari soon turned a corner and started towards her home. Her "outpost" as she called it. It looked plenty like a butcher's shop, with a counter and plenty of supplies in the back to skin, cut, and cook, but it was only an extension off of her little room that she had managed to buy with a few deer and some extra coin. Mostly, she used it for herself, cutting and cooking the deer in the back. Occasionally, though, she did sell extra meat, if Gerrin didn't manage to get to it first. Stepping inside, Avari took the deer off her back and hung it from a hook in the ceiling, the slice in the back leg working wonderfully. Removing her quiver, she set it inside the building, then quickly put her belt back on and put her bow up on the wall where it was held by two small hooks. Drawing her knife, Avari pushed Gerrin back, as he had been gnawing at the impressive antlers the buck had. Then, she began skinning the mighty beast, each stroke and slice of the knife deliberate and precise.

The kid followed the tall man, looking at each horse in their stable. "wow" he muttered to himself.

Ichon led him to the back of the stable. Stopping for a minute, he looked him over. "So...if my years of working with horses tell me anything, you need a small horse. A Fjord Horse should work for you." He clapped his hands. "Serena! Get me, Goh, now!" A short girl with brown braids appeared, looking a bit frightened. "Yes, Ichon!" She disspapred for a minute and came out leading a horse.



Passing along the street, two men (who seemed to be slightly drunk) were speaking rather loudly. "Ya heard of the maniac who lives in the woods? He's supposed to be crazy about plants, and he acts like a wild animal!"

He looked at the horse. "wow, so pretty" The kid's eyes shined.


Aila had been up all night working on something in her darkened room all. bags hung under her eyes, and she was staying up on one hour of sleep.

Not turning, Avari clenched her jaw. What did they want this time? Last time they tried to take my kill, time before that they wanted the fox. Continuing to skin the deer, Avari cut the skin up to the base of the head, then set her knife down to clean it later. Grabbing a sort of saw, she started at the head, taking it off along with the entire pelt. Putting the pelt to the side, she glanced at the now skinned and gutted buck. "This is a prime slab of meat here. We did great this time, Gerrin." Gerrin was chewing on a small piece of meat that Avari given him after he kept begging, paying no heed to her now.

Serena led the horse forward, handing the reigns to Ichon, glancing once at Hermes with a tiny wave, before scurrying off. Ichon beckoned. "Well, come on then, let's get on with it."

Ichor pulled a saddle off the wall and began putting it on. "In a minute, I'll show you where the stirrups are." When he was finished, he tugged gently on one to tighten it. "This is a stirrup. Put one foot in this one, lift yourself up, and swing your other leg over."

Ichon sighed, and began showing him how to grasp the reins, and give commands to the horse. He finished with, "The stable boys call her Misty, but it's just a horse. Any questions?"

When Olya's gaze had come across the 'for hire' sign she instantly brightened up.
An apothecary, she could manage with that right?
It didn't take her long to hurry into the little shop.

Ichon gestured to the saddlebags. "In there is a bag of feed, but that's only for emergencies. The men at the posts will feed her mostly, and she can graze."

There was a woman in the back of the store, dark hair in a twisted bun. Her back was turned to the door, but she looked over her shoulder when she heard the noise. "Oh..hello. Are you here for the sign?"

Ichon paused before answering. "Be fast, be brave. You'll see bandits and battles. Stay away. Your message is much more important than knowing what's going on. A few instructions and your horse will do most of it. Most importantly, the message comes first. You don't know if it's a proclamation of war or a simple report."
