A few minutes ago I found Hoopa is a treasure chest. I immediately clicked from the opened chest to Professor Rowan's lab (using the town tab, there was not a ring on that page). Surprisingly, instead of seeing 0/5 rings like usual it said 1/5 rings found. This is strange as I had not yet collected a ring and had just found Hoopa. This did not end up being a problem at all as I only needed to find 4 rings instead of 5 and it did not cause any further issues, but I do think this is a bug and as such should be reported.

In all my times chasing hoopa I have never encountered this before. It might be a recent bug.

I've triggered it several times since this bug was reported and never had 1/5 rings from the start.

The most logical one, is that you clicked ring without seeing it [as in, you clicked somewhere and there just happened to be a ring]. Clicking the ring brings you to the Lab as well, which is why you might not have noticed you clicked a ring.
