"Okay." Everest breathed heavily, pacing. "Weedle evolves at Level 7 into Kakuna, so one more battle should do it. Charmander...Level 16, so that would take a while. But Charmander should know Growl at Level 1...maybe it's a defect?"

Charmander blinked.

"Ah, it's fine. Level 8, he learns Smokescreen. Level 12, Dragon Breath...and that's when the tables turn."

Everest turned and grinned at Charmander. "6 more levels today, Char. You think you can do that?"

"Charmander!" Charmander chirruped.

Everest smiled and headed off once more into the trees, searching for pokemon.

"Poison Sting," Everest yawns. "String Shot. Then switch to Charmander, and Ember. Feebas' speed is pretty high.

"Alright, Level 80," Everest breathed, in awe of the magnificent creature in front of her. "Fighting's pretty much out of the question. Pokeball...alright, my only Master Ball it is. Master Balls have a 100% rate of catching." She quietly walked forward to the intimidating figure and held out the Master Ball.

Charmander stared, shocked, at his fallen trainer, who was groaning on the ground. He snarled, and the the flame on his tail erupted.

"Char!" Charmander belted out a huge Ember, one glowing fierce amber, twice the size of Zoroark. There was no way it could dodge the blast with its limited moveset.






PLEASE LET IT HIT PLEASE I'LL DO ANYTHING

After an hour, Everest groaned slightly as she got back to her senses. Remembering the humiliating defeat at the hands of a Zoroark, she snapped up and glanced at Charmander, who was sprawled on the rocky ground. "Ah. We lost..."

Everest glanced up at the sky. The sky was already bleeding into an iridescent amber. "Okay. I can still make this with Weedle. With its Poison Sting and String Shot, I can catch another pokemon. I have to."

She climbed back up and recalled Charmander. "Thanks, bud."

Everest walked a roundabout route back to her home, continously SEARCHING FOR POKEMON.
