Hits vines retracted, and went back into a lilipad, and swiveled, before going back in its ball. Alex picked up weedout “nice. Ghost type.” She saidm taking the ball and calling it back

Tristan woke up and startled at seeing and hearing the porygon. "Why... are you here?" he asked, and the porygon replied by letting the hologram tape roll. Tristan gave the porygon a searching look when the hologram disappeared.
"Well... okay then," he said slowly, then got out of bed. He changed his clothes and otherwise got ready for the day, hoping to be punctual, and hurried into the lab, where he was greeted by a nice professor and offered a starter, as were two others. Tristan glanced at them and considered offering a smile, but thought it would probably be a little awkward and, besides, they weren't looking at him.
"Uh, wow, thanks!" he said, choosing the water starter. He thought it looked cool in a sorta funny way. "Can I name them?" He wasn't sure if it was male or female. 'Hmm, maybe Fang? Though that's a bit on the nose... Adri sounds cool, for a girl or boy...' he mused.

It snapped at his finger, and snarled. It was female, determined by the longer bumps on its back
She looked at Savansh, and weedout slwoly extended a seaweed like hand, trying to grab his neck “I’m Alex”

Tristan looked up. "Oh- I'm Tristan. Nice to meet you," he added with a quick smile. He wasn't always good with people... so hopefully, he could make a good first impression.
When the ribbite snarled Tristan flinched and retracted his hand slightly, not having expected it, but he wasn't scared of it, certainly. He noticed the bumps now, realizing she was a female. "I'll call you Adri," he mumbled, almost instantly feeling foolish for talking to a pokémon in front of these people he didn't know. 'What if they think I'm weird now?' he thought nervously.

"Ack," he yelped, pulling his hand away. "What, do you not like me?" he asked, a little hurt. 'Well, she doesn't know me yet, so it's not too surprising. She'll warm up to me, surely.'

(right now she's kind of reminding me of my hedgehog lol)

Tristan flinched, and grabbed the pokedéx, opening it to the ribbite entry. He was fairly used to being called an idiot, due to his habit of never thinking ahead and his lack of observational skills.

‘Ribbite is an aggressive Pokémon, willing to bite anything that moves, especially if surprised. It is best to be wary of this tusks untill it trusts you’ dexter said

Tristan laughed nervously, looking down at Adri. He still didn't regret choosing her, even if it took a few bites to gain her trust. He looked to the other two people who had chosen starters. "How do you like your pokémon?" he asked the girl, wondering if that 2as an awkward question or an awkward way to ask it.

Tristan took a step back from weedout and eyed Adri carefully. "Oh, cool, I like ghost types too."
After seeing lillit's trainer ask the pokedéx about the other two starters, he remembered what the porygon had told them. He looked at the professor, wondering if he should leave the lab and head for route one now.
If he was ever going to have to battle lillit or weedout, especially since both of them were part grass type, he'd need to train Adri quite a bit to make up for her natural disadvantage. 'Plus, spending time training with her might help her trust me,' he thought hopefully.

Tristan jumped, then holding the pokédex and Adri (carefully), he scurried out of the lab. He headed for route one, and stopped in front if the tall grass. Taking a deep breath, he looked back at the lab and his house once more before wading through the greenery.

(should I assume he has pokéballs already?)

"Oh! Um, Adri, go!" He let Adri out to face off against the rodent-like pokémon. He had his pokéballs ready, but he wasn't sure he wanted to catch this one. He had a feeling that Adri wouldn't like it... or most other pokémon, for that matter.
