I'm no stranger to BBcode, but each website seems to have a different image limit. when using the [.img] command, what is the pixel size? I've seen some websites say 500x500, others have 250x250, but I can't seem to find one for here. (If you can, dimensions for the forums, signatures, and the userpage would be appreciated.)

Another question related to image uploads, what is the best platform to use? Imgur?

The image is as big as it is. Basically, a 97x97 image will be 97x97 pixels, and a 500x500 image will be 500x500 pixels.

and for uploading sites, ImgBB works well as it's not blocked for many people, like devianart and imgurr.

The forum width is 644 pixels [give or take a few]; it'll automatically adjust images to the max-width if they are too big.
