How rare is a ditto ?

Randomly in the lab or purchased from other users but it goes for 6 million -ish pd

When I first started playing I got one from the lab. Never since and it's been 3 or so years I believe. Most users never get one.

Btw if you get one in the lab you'll know because the rarity is literally "Ditto"

In my (almost) 7 years here, I haven't been lucky enough to snatch a ditto from the lab. Though I'm not that active in camping in the lab waiting for good grabs or mass adopting random eggs. :b

So I ended up buying my ditto for 2500 nuggets.

You can also buy one from the gem collector for 10 000 normal gems. (Which is why normal gems tend to be more sought after/expensive than other rumble gems.) Though you need the pokedex entry for the pokemon you buy from the gem collector so you'll have to loan a ditto from someone for that purchase.

It seems like it is near impossible to have a Ditto.

Why do they make it so hard to get it? 10,000 Normal Gems are just nuts.
Not to mention it hardly shows up in the lab too.
Even in money terms it comes up to almost 5 millions, whenever someone decided to put it up for trade/auction? And the most each time we can have the money through interactions is only 10 with not every single time we can get some money. And most of the auctions do not help in accumulate the cashflow.

So 99.999999999% players can't even complete their Kanto Pokedex.
People really need to think hard whether they should continue wasting their precious time to play this game.
I myself is a perfectionist, so I won't be too surprised if I finally decided to dump this game out of my window.

It's not near impossible to have a ditto though. Sure, getting one requires luck or hard work and time to collect the gems or funds needed to purchase one. (And like I said, I bought mine for 2500 nuggets which is about 3,750,000 in PD, not quite 5 million.)

However, there are currently 1,560 ditto on site, it's far from the rarest pokemon on here. It just gets more attention than other rarer pokemon because most users are looking for one for the dex and for the purposes of breeding. The demand hikes up the price.

I can't say why Riako decided to make ditto so much rarer than other kanto pokemon (perhaps for the breeding abilities), but it is what it is. Makes finally getting your hands on one rather rewarding though.

You just got lucky with that. I think currently there has 3 Ditto in GTS, 2 of them asking for 5 millions and it has been up for months. Don't even know if those players are still active or not, but it doesn't matter as I am far too behind money-wise. To give you all an idea, I am still struggling to get my hands on a Shadow Radar/Chips for Tall Grass and Repair fee for the Gem Collector. On top of that with PD we still need to pay a 10% tax??? So it comes up with more than 5 million needed for a successful trade.

As for nuggets, only have 4 per 5 days log-in. How long does it take to get my hands on those 2500 nuggets that you spend to get your own Ditto??? And it fully depends whether someone is willing to sell any spare Ditto if any as we all know it has the most rarest appearance in the lab.

You stated yourself that you were not able to get it for 7 long years until you purchase one with nuggets. It certainly is an obstacle for any players especially new ones. I may not be as new, but I am just 3 months old, barely old enough to register for Newbie Mentoring.

True, I have been unlucky with the lab like I said, but others (like painchri589) have a very different story with much less time spent. I don't believe I got lucky with my trade either. Unless actively checking trades to find that ditto trade asking for an amount of nuggets I was willing to pay is considered luck. That 5 million ditto is probably still in the GTS precisely because people are not willing to pay that much for it (or the user who set the trade is not active or not actively checking their offers).

I'll admit that at this point PH might not be the most newbie friendly due to how much money you need to buy, unlock, and upgrade different things to get access to everything the site has to offer. So, unfortunately, catching them all is not a quick journey in PH unless you're really dedicated and have the time. Otherwise, it's best not to stress about getting a particular hard to get pokemon as soon as possible but instead set it as a long term goal and focus on smaller goals short term.

That's kinda how I worked my way to collecting the nuggets to buy my ditto (and the normal gems to buy another one from the gem collector to get its egg dex entry): Slowly saving up nuggets from the daily log in bonuses for years and selling items for nuggets, which accumulated enough over time because I didn't spend them on anything else. Same with the gems, rumbling and trading gems for years without paying it much mind while I focused on more short term goals.

I'm aware that's not a satisfying answer for everyone though as people are different. I'm a lazy player who doesn't mind working towards something for a long time, even years, and not everyone is willing to wait for their plans to come to fruition for that long. I'm not sure what other advice to give besides planning and patience if lady luck isn't smiling on you.

So that is why I said people need to think carefully whether all these time wasted is worthwhile.
We all know that time passed will never ever return, so it is our own decision to stay in the game for years or dump it instantly. Time awaits no one and thus is the most precious thing in the world.

Other than that I totally agree with you on patience and plan ahead required for not only this particular game but every thing in real life too.

I am shocked to know that you plan on getting the egg through Gem Collector too, I know I said it myself that I am a perfectionist but I still don't think it is necessary to get another egg just for the dex. Already having the pokemon registered in our Kanto Pokedex is more than enough. Maybe I am not that much of a perfectionist as I think I am huh!
