How many Meltan candies are needed to get both Meltan and Melmetal? Is it 3? 2x to get 2 Meltans and 1x to evolve one?

Pretty late, but in case anyone else is wondering -
You'll need 5 Meltan Candies; 1 Meltan, 1 Melmetal [+ 1 for evolving], 1 Giga Melmetal [+ 1 for evolving].
