You find
yourself wandering aimlessly, in the middle of nowhere. Or at
least, you think it's the middle of nowhere. Eventually, you come
across an odd mountain range, with a variety of caves all the way
up one or two of the mountains, the ones at the base seemed to have
lights in them of sort, likely naturally glowing plant life more
than human-placed lights. As you approach, you notice a variety of
mini-biomes around the mountain range, a savanna, a grasslands or
meadow, a forest, a jungle, a little oasis off to one side by the
mountains, and a few more. There was definitely enough variety to
support a lot of different creatures. There was even a cemetery,
which seemed pretty odd. The closer you got to this area, you
noticed more and more details, including the fact that the entire
area was surrounded with a rickety, old fence. It seemed as if
someone lived here at some point, but this place was likely long
abandoned. When you reach the gate you find your path blocked by
four or five creatures, they seem animal-like in appearance, except
they look like they're wearing skulls, with a line of bones down
their back, their tail also seems to be made out of bones with a
tuft of fur at the end, and their paws are also skeletal in
appearance. They growl, glaring at you as if telling you to back
off, until a larger version of the same creature drops down, from
where? the mountains? It doesn't matter, this larger creature's
presence seemed to be enough for the others to back away slightly.
This one seemed different from the others though, it had a pair of
large horns on its skull, bones around its chest and the tuft of
fur on its tail seemed to be made up of a blue flame. This large
creature looked at you with its purple eyes, before turning its
back on you and leaving, jumping up the mountain and entering one
of the higher up caves. The other creatures went their own ways,
some jumping up the mountain to a different cave, others going to
the cemetery. You walk through the gate and find yourself looking
at a variety of creatures inhabiting the different areas of this
place, coexisting peacefully with one another. Before you get too
into exploring, you find yourself stopped by the very same large
creature as before, it's tail flicking as it stared at you, as if
telling you to wait. Soon enough, a humanoid being appeared by its
side, their figure was hard to make out due to the unknown animal
skull on the head, and loose clothes that they wore.
"Welcome to the Wasteland Mountains, where a variety of species have made their homes. I'm The Guardian, the guardian or caretaker of this place, and the species that reside here."
It seemed your initial idea of this place being abandoned was wrong...

[OOC Notes]
[Alright! Welcome to my adopt shop, a secret project i've been working on for a little while. This isn't like other adopt shops however, as this one offers a variety of species and more will be added as time goes on, ranging from reptilian to mammalian to completely bizarre in appearance!
I'm aiming for this adopt shop to be a bit like a cross between a shop, an rp or story, and a game, hence the long introductory story, and some of the features this shop will have - like crafting, a store run by the NPC mentioned at the end of the story (The Guardian), and different methods of gathering using your adopted creatures.]
"Of course, you're likely interested in taking one, or more, of these creatures home as your pets, right? But even a place out here has it's rules, which i think you might want to check."

These critters are essentially overgrown lizards - even if they are classified as dragons, they don't breath fire and they can't fly due to a lack of wings, making them a pretty safe pet - aside from their size of course. These are often found in the lower caves in the mountain range, and they glow in a variety of different patterns, each being different in their own way - even those with the same patterns tend to have different colours! (The only exception being rare identical twins) They are also known for their variety of blood colours, each varying depending on the individual.

These creatures are most commonly seen around cemeteries, hence their name, but they also inhabit any rocky place such as high-up caves or cliffs. This particular species is incredibly hardy, shown to even be able to survive out in the open wasteland with very little to hunt or to do at all. They can go months without food, and when they do manage to catch something they'll normally share it with their pack or pride.

This species mostly inhabits grasslands, meadows or savannas. They're omnivorous in nature, despite what their sharp fangs might lead you to believe, and their social constructs are quite interesting. As eggs and younglings, they'll often be grouped up together, with a small group of guardian adults (2-4), which will rotate with other adults, mostly the other parents of the eggs. Apart from that, they are only really in groups for hunting purposes, in the case that wild animals come into their territory - and using their incredibly fast speed, chances are they'll be able to catch it, otherwise they spend most of their time alone.

These raptor-like creatures can be easily found near the cliff edge, or other high-up places where they can easily take off and fly or even glide due to their powerful wings. Eggs are often laid in what look like giant bird nests, and looked after by one of the two parents of the clutch, alternating as one goes out to hunt and the other returns. When they hatch, this cycle continues but with the hunting parent bringing back food for the hatchlings as well. At a couple of weeks old, the hatchlings take their first flight off of the cliff edge, as their wings have strengthened enough to at least glide by that point.

Exploration
Anything EXCEPT Digging!
Aka - Hunting, Foraging and Scavenging allowed!
At another part of The Guardian's cave, you notice a little notice board. As you go over to read it seems to be an offer to allow your companions to do a variety of tasks for you, by you sending them out. There seems to be a daily limit of 5 times in total.

Notes:
-Effectiveness of the task depends on whether the area is one that the particular creature excels in or not.
-Using the same task in different areas will still yield different results.
-Some areas might yield really similar results and will overlap a lot:
~Savanna/Grasslands/Meadow, Forest/Jungle, High Caves/Cliff Edge
-Different creatures have different specialities, and excel in different areas and struggle in others.
[Glowdrakes - Great in the Glowing Cave and Oasis. Above average in the Dark Cave and Jungle. Struggles in the Savanna and Wastelands]
[Graveyard Guardians - Great in the Cemetery and High Caves. Above average in the Barren Wastelands and Cliff Edge. Struggles in the Jungle and Oasis]
[Grassland Racers - Great in the Grasslands and Meadow. Above average in the Savanna and Forest. Struggles in the High Caves and Cliff Edge.]
[Skystreak Drakes - Great in the Savanna and Cliff Edge. Above average in the Forest and High Caves. Struggles in the Dark Cave and Glowing Cave]
Potential Tasks:
Hunting - High chance of your pet bringing back treats, Small chance of materials.

Scavenging - High chance of your pet bringing back crafting materials. Medium chance of rare materials, small chance of finding wild eggs.
Digging - High chance of your pet bringing back crafting materials. Medium chance of rare materials, small chance of finding fossils.
Areas:
Grasslands - Open fields of grass and the occasional flower.
Meadow - Deep into the grasslands, lots of flowers.
Savanna - A very dry, grassland-like place with a couple of trees here and there.
Forest - A quite cool place, with many trees providing shade.
Jungle - A tropical place, very crowded with plant life.
Oasis - A nice, relaxing oasis. The perfect place to sit down and have a drink.
Glowing Cave - It's dark and hard to see much, but you can see glowing plant life within.
The Cemetery - An area only able to be accessed by Graveyard Guardians.
The Barren Wastelands - A place void of life, plant or animal. There's nothing to be found here.. or is there?
Dark Cave - A very dark cave, it's hard to see what's within.
High Caves - A series of caves high up the mountains, it would be really difficult to climb.

Breeding
Here you can breed your creatures to get eggs. You can even breed your companions with that of another person's, if you have permission, and the litter will be split between you both. The max number of eggs in a litter is 6, though that is a rare chance.
Eggs hatch naturally after a day, but you can buy potions to instantly hatch them.
