I just got a light rock and have been going through the Safari Zone to find it, but haven't had any luck as of yet (after 5 tries so far). Any suggestions on tricks to find them? How many times did it take for you to find it?

You will find it eventually, I don't know any tricks (I'm very bad at catching stuff in the safari zone) except for to first use your puffins to slow the pokemon, then use the safari ball.
