Forum Thread

Apologies ahead of time if this suggestion has already been made--I looked briefly and couldn't find it.

(Also, decided "Communication" was the most fitting category out of itself, New Features and Other Suggestions, but I think it could've gone in either of the other two as well.)

So! As made evident by the title, I think it'd be a helpful little feature to be able to like forum posts. (Separate from the "liking" system of suggestions. My suggestion shouldn't interfere with that.) I think that this would add something new to the forums part of the site, for reasons as follows:
-Although I do NOT think it should be the default sorting, the ability to sort posts by number of likes would be helpful, in times of looking for credible sources, trustworthy shop owners, most-supported suggestions, widely-appreciated comments, and a large variety of other scenarios. I would also argue that it'd be helpful to add the option of sorting by likes both highest to lowest, AND lowest to highest. The latter may be helpful for finding new artists, posts that have flown under the radar, questions that have gone unanswered, and a variety of other things as well.
-The option to show appreciation in threads such as "Gift a Plushie to the User Above you" without disrupting the flow of the thread.
-Giving feedback when what you have to say has already been said, or if you simply do not know what else to say, but want to share with the poster that you've received their post positively; validation.
-Feel free to comment any ideas as to how else this may be useful, or other specifics that you think should/could be implemented! Conversely, if you support the idea but are against something specific suggested, all feedback is welcome. :)

Precautionary measures to avoid possible abuse of the function:
-No option to dislike. There is already the report button. If there is something you're not fond of that doesn't warrant a report, either engage in respectful conversation, or ignore it. Surely this is an implied rule of the forums anyways. Besides! The option to dislike would provide plenty of instances where someone might feel like they are being ganged up on, without necessarily providing any reasoning as to why. Although this wouldn't always be the case, it's best to avoid the potential conflict altogether. :)
-As previously stated, do Not sort posts by likes by default. This could/would quickly lead to a system of censorship, and I ain't about that.
-An important disclaimer to make is that low likes does Not suggest a post is inherently more likely of being spam, or worthy of reporting or removal.
-A somewhat obvious one, but users should only be allowed to like a post once.


None of the specific details are ideas I feel "need" to be implemented with my main idea--the focus of this post is the option to like any forum post.
