My Skarmory hasn't mega evolved and everything I read said it should happen at lv 50. What happened? What did I do wrong? This is my first time with a mega.

What? Isn't that what's at the side of the profile? Do they not come with one? How do I get one? Can I still evolve them?

The bubble on its profile page only indicates that your Pokémon is mega-able. Only Pokémon that have such a bubble can mega-evolve; other Pokémon that don't, even if they're of a species that could do so in theory, won't be able to.

And yes, your Pokémon will still be able to mega-evolve even if it's passed level 50. Level 50 is just the minimum level requirement.
