Shiny removal?

I recently acquired a shiny bergmite through an auction it evolved. For some unknown reason upon evolving the resulting avalugg was no longer shiny. Is this supposed to happen or is this some kind of bizarre bug?
I feel it would also be noteworthy to mention that I bought this bergmite for a fairly lucrative price

If the Avalugg isn't shiny, I highly doubt the Bergmite was.

Shiny bergmite and avalugg look pretty similar to the non shiny ones, did you check for the shiny symbol?

Seeing as the person who hatched it (the OT) has only hatched one shiny in their chain, and that shiny is in their party, I'm pretty sure that was a non-shiny from the start.
