ive heard you can unlock rumble areas. any ideas how?

There's a number of areas you can unlock, yes. The wiki page for rumbling tells you all about them so you might want to check it out.

Areas that aren't currently unlockable due to their event having ended will most likely have a repeat event sometime in the future. So with some of them, you'll just have to be patient. :]
