As ya know in the prehistoric dinosaur era,the plants and animals were huge! But do you know why?
It was because of the high availability of oxygen in the air that animals grew so large and it was because of the high availability of carbon dioxide the plants were able to grow so large.
And since plans depend on us and we depend on plants we have to keep exchanging these gases on a regular basis. And since the organisms then were so large they produces large mass intakes and outputs of oxygen and carbon dioxide.
Meaning they could take 10x the amount of oxygen we breath in right now with each breath.Making the growth more efficient.
But since the extinction of 98% of all huge species from earth plants did not have a reliable source of carbon dioxide to depend on.So they had to adapt to smaller intakes and became smaller over ages reaching to the point where they are now.Meaning now this could be the maximum height we can go to since the plants are so small.
Now you may be asking "Then how bout we force them to grow more?".As I said we depend on each other.Meaning our intakes and outputs have to be equalized. If the plants give us more oxygen and we give them less carbon dioxide they will eventually die faster then the time we will grow to be a good source of carbon dioxide for them.
