Is there a difference between training and feeding berries to other people's Pokemon/eggs? More pokedollars, more "idle" exp for your party, higher chance for golden slot coins? Anything? If not, then, another question.. Why is it even an option?

It's all of the above :p
Feeding a berry gives a wider range of PD [though doesn't exclude the chance to get lower amounts] and gives more XP.
I haven't really paid close attention to the Golden Game Chips gained, so I can't answer for that.
