i personally dont think he should be worth more than the legendarys excluding raikou entei and suicune (can be gotten easily) but he is necessary for bredding without same species, i wouldnt pay more than 500,000 if i even had that much

How do you even get Ditto? I'm new here and have only seen people looking for 1,000,000+ pd or really rare items for them. Is there a way to get them yourself?

You can adopt a ditto from Prof. Rowan's Lab or you can get one from the gem collecter for 10,000 normal gems.
