"We have to go out of the east side of town and travel on
the trail to the next town which is around a mile away. We can grab
some necessary food, and continue to the next town. We have 4 towns
to get through, and each gets further apart. If I'm correct, it wil
take two days to get to the parting in the canyon. Then we'll
travel down into the town of Betuna, the town on the edges and
inside the canyon. Then we can get to the ruins from there in
around 2 days." Alex said, trying to keep his explanation short.
Quixi growled under her breath but didn't speak. She was almost
used to being an arm rest.
Beverly nodded as Alex spoke, " Only a few days travel and many
towns in between, " she said, repeating the information for her own
sake. " Sounds more than a decent journey to me. Of course, that's
given nothing eventful happens to us during that time." Beverly
pushed a lock of ginger hair behind her ear before pulling her hood
back over her head. " Shall we begin?, " she said, more or less to
the whole group.
Dismounting his avatar so that he didn’t tower over
everyone as much, he tapped Alex with one of his tentacles while
still maintaining distance between them. “If it doesn’t
inconvenience the rest can we sometimes stay near bodies of water?”
Versul murmured to the Bard, attempting to not attract more
attention than necessary. The Cecaelia ignored Beverly’s question,
leaving it to the rest of the party to answer.
Protector went over to look at the map as well despite not knowing
how to read, (she should probably ask someone to teach her) so she
was relieved when Alex elaborated. “I’m ready when you guys are!”
The Houndfolk chirruped, eager to get going but not wanting to
pressure anyone. She normally wasn’t allowed to go outside of the
village after an incident that no one wishes to speak of so she
jumped at the opportunity.
Alexander looked up at Versul, giving a grin. "Yeah! If you
notice the path, I chose one that follows a river. That's for two
reasons... Bathing and so you can get to water if need be." He
hummed kindly. He smiled at the rest. "Let's head out of everyone
is ready." He said, shoving the map into his loose pockets. Quixi
smiled in excitment, and Alex grinned. He shifted, and took it upon
himself to scoot through the group and lead them towards the path
leading out of the east side of town. Quixi scampered to follow
him, turning to beckon the rest.
It's about time, Beverly thought as she walked at the tail
end of the group. She was unaccustomed to moving group this size,
and with this much diversity. She wondered if she would be able to
gather much information about the prophet they were to face when
they did move through the towns. People may be too suspicious to
speak to us, Beverly thought to herself. She became lost in
thought as she walked.
Protector would’ve spoken Canine if it weren’t for the fact
that it would be rude, so she just wagged her tail instead. The
Houndfolk bounded up towards the front and attempted to walk
besides Delmar. She ended up having to job to keep up with the
taller folks since she had tiny legs but she didn’t mind very
much.
Versul murmured a quick thanks before following their lead. He was
at the back of the group, half because he wanted to avoid
unnecessary conversation and the other half being he had
tentacles for legs. He could ask his avatar for help but he
didn’t want to overwork the poor crab-it could only handle lugging
around a Cecaelia for so long. Tugging at the end of his cloak, he
tried harder not to fall too behind.
Lizzy had gone up to the front of the group and walked along beside
Alex, smiling brightly as she lightly gripped her satchel's
strap.
''maybe i can find new potion ingredients on the way...! there's
this one potion recipe i've been dying to try but our town doesn't
have what i need for the recipe'' she said.
Fredrick stayed near the front and kept both an eye and ear out for
any danger.
"a river, sweeeet." Marius grinned, his sharp piranha teeth on full
display. He quickly closed his mouth, seeing a townsperson give him
a weird look. He put his hands in his pockets and followed Alex.
Beverly adjusted her pace to match Versul's, giving him a curious
look. " I was wondering...," she began. " Why did you agree to go
on this quest? This can't have been convenient for you in any way."
It was one thing to travel by the river, but she was curious as to
what Versul and his crab would do once they had to leave it behind.
