Jay got mashed potatoes, green beans, and picked up an
apple. He didn't get chicken because he was vegitarian, and the
chicken looked... Suspicious. He glanced at Logan before taking a
seat next to Arabella.
Ara smiled and shook her head. "There's parties in the graveyards
and singing meme songs in class. One time a teacher was prompting
someone to answer in class by going 'ssss' and the person goes
'Ssssomebody once told me-' and we sang the whole song and got the
teacher to cry because of how hard they were laughing." She laughed
lightly. She gave Jay a smile as he sat down.
Arabella nodded with a laugh. "It's all real." She gave
Logan a glance and smirked. "Welcome to public high school, bud."
She smirked. Jay smiled beside her, beginning to eat as he
listened. High school was interesting for him, since he let people
walk all over him. It was hard for him to say no to things even he
knew were terrible. So, he knew about this crappy highschool
life.
"No one talks in my school." Logan shrugged. "Well, unless you
count the rowdy half, but those kids dont voluntarily talk half
AP's" He said, taking a bite of his vegetables. Bland and
tasteless. He may as well have made them himself.
Ariel listened as they discussed public schools. She didnt fully
believe them of course, after all school was for learning, not
meme-ing and sassing teachers and Graveyard parties. The red head
doubted that these were school sanctioned activities, these
graveyard parties.
"Many of the loud and disruptive ones are smart, so they
get into high classes. They just don't apply themselves..."
Arabella hummed. Jay nodded. "I knew this guy who was so loud and
annoying but he could do math like no other." Jay quipped before
continuing to eat the dry potatoes. He never knew dry mashed
potatoes existed until the very moment he put some in his
mouth.
"Huh. Different schools I guess." Logan shrugged. He didnt have
much experience outside of his own school, not really one to go to
another school for anything. It'd probably come to bite him in the
back come college, but he had another year before that.
"Public school sounds weeeird." Ariel said. "I cant see how you
could focus on your studies while kids around you are rowdy."
Arabella let out a laugh. "Sometimes I dunno how I can
study with them. Usually, though, I study in the library and take a
hecka ton of notes in class." She hummed, and Jay nodded. "My
notebooks are filled to the brim with notes that most kids don't
bother to take." He purred softly, finishing his mashed potatoes a
bit after he finished speaking.
"Ha, I barely take notes." Logan said. He was glad that he retained
information like water, never really having to worry about it.
"Notes are for nerds." He's scribbled complex equations on his arms
everyonce in a while, but those fade, he didnt see the importance
in it or qualify them as notes.
"I keep my notes on my computer at home? Its easier to share them
with my tutors if I have a question about something." Ariel
shrugged. "Do you not type up your notes?"
Marius emerged from his car, back aching from picking up last
minute supplies in town, then driving all the way up. "Allleeexxxx"
He grumbled, moving around the car and shaking his soulmate awake.
He yawned, "We're here, we gotta-" He yawned again. It wasnt even
that late in the day, he didnt know why he was so tired. "We gotta
introduce ourselves to the campers."
Jay smirked. "Not everyone is as smart as you, Logan." He
joked, but behind the tone was something sincere. Arabella looked
at Ariel and shook her head. "No. We get notebooks and get
everything together that way." She said, giving a shrug.
Alex rolled in the seat, opening his eyes a bit to look up at
Marius. He blinked, giving Marius an almost begging look.
"Babe...." He whined, shifting and unbuckling. "Just a few more
minutes...?"
Logan gave a half smile and rolled his eyes. He finished his food
and went to put his tray by the dishes window. Ariel gave Arabella
a baffled look. "So do you just, scan the things you have questions
on and send the scanned images to your teachers?"
Marius smiled. "Nah, sorry love. We gotta go before dinner ends. We
can bully some kids into taking the supplies in for us though. Or
just get David to do it." He shrugged, offering Alex a hand out of
the car.
Arabella shook her head. "Everyday that we have a test,
teachers collect your notebook and grade the notes you took over
the section." She hummed. Jay continued to eat, not thinking much
about the tasteless food he was eating.
Alex let a little moan slip from his lips, taking Marius' hand and
getting out of the car. He hadn't thought they'd have to meet up
with the campers, so he was in sweatpants and a black hoodie. He
rubbed his eyes and yawned, slumping against Marius with a
huff.
"Huh!" Ariel chirped, "I just, print out my tests and take them in
the kitchen? I dont bother wasting my Tutors time with them." She
shrugged, finishing her food.
Logan milled about the Dining hall, talking to other returning
campers.
"You look lovely." Marius hummed, scooping Alex up and holding him
tight. "Now, I can carry you into the mess hall and we can hear
alllll of the campers talk about how gross and schmoopy we are. OR
I can set you down and we can walk into the mess hall like adults."
He mused, shutting the car door with his foot.
Arabella smiled. "Being homeschooled sounds nice." She said
honestly, and Jay nodded beside her. "School is basically hell." He
admitted kindly, finished his veggies with a huff.
Alex rolled in Marius' grip, buring his face in his chest and
gripping his shirt front. "Let them talk, I don't care... They'll
only be saying the truth, ngh?" He murmured, glancing up at Marius
with glazed, sleepy eyes.
"It is nice, I just never got out much, aside from with my Dads"
Ariel shrugged. "Pros and Cons, y'know."
Marius laughed. "Yeah, I guess so." He smiled, walking into the
mess hall, opening it with his foot as to not lose hold on Alex. He
entered quietly, sitting at the counsellors table with his feet out
to the aisle as to not squish alex between himself and the table,
glad that he and Alex had gotten dinner on the way instead of
having to eat the camp food. It was good, just bland as heck.
Arabella nodded. "Yeah... There's good and bad things no
matter what, huh?" Jay was quiet, sipping his water softly.
Alex shifted in Marius' grip, hiding his face in his chest. David
tilted his head at the two. "Oh, you two! Did you get back easily?"
He asked, making Daniel glance at him with a huff.
Ariel hummed agreement, not really having anything more to say.
Logan sauntered back to the table and settled down, twirling a pen
in his hand. While he had been talking he had doodled a little
flower on the knob of his wrist, just out of view enough that it
couldnt be seen when his sweatshirt shifted.
"Oh, Of course! The back roads suck, but we managed all right.
There are supplies in the back of my car, and we're in no shape to
bring em in, so if y'all could get some campers, or get them
yourselves that'd be great." Marius said, fishing around in his
back pocket and passing the camp card to Gwen with a smile. He did
his best not to jostle Alex around too much as he moved.
Jay looked at Logan for a moment before standing up and
going to dump his tray. He was tripped as he walked up, falling and
slamming into the cafeteria floor. There was a wave of silence
before laughter. Jay sat up and sprinted to the tray window,
setting his things down and running back to the table. He whimpered
as he sat down, rubbing his head. He felt eyes on him, laughter
still in spots around the room. Arabella stared at him with pity,
but said nothing.
Alex jumped at the crash, eyes shooting open. He sat up a bit and
looked over Marius' shoulder to see a little boy scampering up from
the ground. He winced, feeling bad. David went to go help, but
Daniel set a hand on his shoulder and told him to sit down. David
did so, sadness in his eyes.
"Aw, dude, Are you alright?" Logan asked, lightly touching Jay's
back. He didint know the kid well enough yet to know how
comfortable he was with touching. Ariel looked at Jay with concern
in her eyes.
"He'll be fine, kids are resilient." Marius said, holding Alex a
little tighter. "But yeah, David, Daniel, If you guys could get the
stuff out of my car?" he trailed off, holding the keys out to
david. He didnt really trust Daniel if he was being honest, the guy
always struck him as kinda,,, culty.
Jay leaned into Logan's touch, giving a soft sniffle. His
throat burnt with the urge to sob, eyes stinging with unshed tears.
"I'm fine." Jay's voice was soft and extremely shaky, holding the
time of someone close to tears.
Alex gave a hum of sadness. "Poor kid..." He whispered, leaning
back into Marius' arms and touch. David nodded as he took the keys
and stood. He grabbed Daniel's hand, and the two raced outside.
"They're cute, but Daniel is weird and David is a pure boy." Alex
muttered as the soulmates left.
"Aw, Man, heck." Logan mumbled, rubbing small circles into Jay's
back. "D'you wanna head to the cabin? Or just get out of the dining
hall or somethin?" He asked quietly.
"Dude, some morning we're not gonna hear David cheerily waking
everyone up because hes gonna be dead and Daniels gonna have
stabbed him." Marius thought it over for a second. "Nah he's too
thorough, he'd have stabbed us all."
