Tigerpaw meowed in amusement, "I've seen you do that before" she purred. "It might be awful but we need to do it in order to help the elde-" she meowed and was cut off as a cry was heard from the elder's den.

Greenbush's ears pricked up immodestly. "What the-" He turned his head and dashed towards the elders den. "Stormflame?!" He exclaimed, peering at the elder. "What- Okay." He took a few deep breathes. "Talk to me. What hurts?" He meowed lowly.

[nah just an elder passing...maybe later?]

Tigerpaw followed her mentor into the den, and saw Stormflame curled up in pain. The elder was looking at something far away. "It's no use, Greenbush...StarClan told me it's my time" he whispered lowly. Tigerpaw blinked, and picked up a strange smell...one that seemed familiar to her, but it soon left as she scented it.

Greenish blinked in frustration. He hated this. "Poppy seeds." He murmured, slipping out of the elders den and dashing into the medicine den. He frantically searched through the den, finding the correct pile and grasping a few. He darted back into the elders den and dropped the seeds on the ground in front of Stormflame. "Eat those." He murmured. "It'll help stop the pain."

Stormflame took the poppy, and curled up silently. Tigerpaw went over to the elder, and licked his cheek. "StarClan is waiting for me" Stormflame whispered lowly.

Tigerpaw blinked, and flicked an ear. "Would you like me to get Ashpelt, and Flamestar?" she asked in concern. The elder shook his head.

"Tigerpaw beware a warrior who seems to lie" he said quietly. He then fell back down, and closed his eyes one last time.

Greenbush touched Stormflame with one paw and drew his paw back, shaking his head silently. He hated the agony that came with losing a cat. "He's with StarClan now." He said softly. He hadn't heard what Stormflame has told Tigerpaw.

Tigerpaw nodded, and looked at the elder in sorrow. She placed her muzzle in his fur. "I...I'll go tell Flamestar" she mewled sadly, and ran out of the elder's den.

Greenbush watche Tigerpaw run out and felt a pang of sorrow. He bowed his head and grieved in silence for a few minutes.

Tigerpaw went across the camp. Her mind was clouded with sorrow, and confusion. 'Beware a warrior that seems to lie' the warning seemed to replay in her mind. She looked around the camp, and blinked. No cats seem to lie...what can it mean? she thought sharply. She then made it to Flamestar, and told him what happened. The leader ran to the elder's den, and went over to Greenbush.

Greenbush remained still, looking at Stormflame. "Sorry, Flamestar." He said weakly, not moving his gaze. He snapped out of his trance and shook himself off. "I'm sorry." He repeated again, tone slightly softer than before. "There are some times we can't help. He hunts with StarClan now."

Flamestar nodded, and looked over to the medicine cat. "Unfortunately it was his time to go...I'll bring his body out for a vigil..." he meowed in an even tone. Though there was a hint of sorrow in his tone. Tigerpaw sat back toward the entrance of the elder's den. While she looked sad, she had a thoughtful look in her eyes as she tried to decide the warning her grandfather told her.

Dirtpaw excitedly jumped after hearing her mentor was Breezetail. She yipped and ran to her sister, who was sorrowfully scuffing the ground. "Ashpelt? I wanted Breezetail!!" Dirtpaw slumped back, realizing her sister may hate her for the next few days. She then saw Greenbush and his new apprentice, Tigerpaw, rush over to the elder's den.

Oh no.

Minutes later Tigerpaw streaked out, and told Flamestar to come with her. When they came back out, they were dragging Stormflame. Dirtpaw and Smallpaw gasped. This happy day had come to an end.

Tigerpaw walked out of the elder's den, and looked around. Flamestar then went out of the elder's den, and placed Stormflame's body in the center of camp. "Cats of DesertClan..." he began sadly. "Shadowflame has gone to join StarClan..."

Smallpaw couldn't believe what she was seeing. This was supposed to be one of the happiest days of her life, and yet, this was happening. Right in front of her. It was the first death she had ever witnessed. Just the sight of it hit her like a ton of bricks. The traces of sadness had turned into a waterfall. She couldn't take it. She closed her eyes, and didn't open them. she felt the thud of her body hitting the ground, and then, nothing.


When Dirtpaw saw her sister faint, she was shocked, and overwhelmed. Stoneflame had always been there for Smallpaw. When she was bored, Stoneflame would tell her stories. Dirtpaw watched as cats blurred past her, helping her sister. Her tail slumped and she trodded into the apprentice den, not wanting to have to watch anymore.

Mambapaw then saw the leader walking out the den and walking to place the dead cats body.He flicked his tail to tell the Condorpaw and Scarletpaw to turn around.

Tigerpaw went over to Smallpaw. She pushed her way through a group of cats. Arriving at the other apprentice's side, she nudged her hoping it would be enough to wake her. "Smallpaw? Hey are you alright?" she meowed in concern.

Flamestar looked over to the clan. He went over to his father, and pressed his muzzle into the gray, and orange warrior once more. "You were kind to the younger cats, and I hope you find peace in StarClan" he meowed gently.

Smallpaw opened her eyes to Tigerpaw prodding her, asking her if she was okay. Her legs shook as she stood, and was lead to the apprentice den.


Brownpaw curled up on her new nest, trying to stay as comfortable as she could, when she felt another cat curl up next to her. She looked over, and saw Smallpaw. She drifted off to sleep.
