DesertClan (Roleplay)

"It'll be explained soon enough" Ashpelt purred and liced Sunkit between the ears. He then nuzzled Bramblekit before continuing. "Well Snowstorm and I were worried about him so we sneaked out of the nursery and went to the one cat he'd listen to, Tigerpelt." He mewled quietly.
" But you didn't stop him, " Sunkit said, getting ahead of the story. She was shifting on her paws, eager to hear more.
Ashpelt shook his head"no he wouldn't listen to us, or Tigerpelt. He kept saying 'I'll be stronger than any warrior here.' and 'no one will ever let me join a battle if I'm not strong enough to defend the clan'" he mewed quietly. "So Tigerpelt sneaked out of camp and followed him. Flamepaw went all the way past the small Twoleg place near camp and into a much bigger one. They had giant snakes that ran on a silver lining in the ground that the cats of twoleg place called Thundersnakes" he meowed gently.
Bramblekit shuttered as he tried to imagine a giant thundersnake.
Sunkit looked confused, " Twolegs have the weirdest things, " she said, " But, I think I'd like to see a thundersnake, " she said, tentatively.
Ashpelt sighed "you wouldn't want to be near one when you hear how fast they go. A thundersnake rides along a silverpath, and it goes so fast it can knock even the strongest warrior off their paws" he meowed quietly. Bramblekit shook his fur lt as he tried to think of wind stronger than the most powerful storm. Ashpelt then continued "Flamepaw went all the way to the big twoleg place. He was starting to be a loner when he found Tigerpelt. His mentor tried and tried to get him to come back home, but he wouldn't listen...soon Tigerpelt decided to leave Flamepaw and allow him to be a loner, and see how it was. She then walked in the direction of camp, but she never left Flamepaw even for a moment. She stalked him like prey, and she kept an eye on her wayward apprentice."
Sunkit felt sad, thinking of how scared Flamestar must have felt, at least at first. " Did he ever find that loner?" she asked, her small voice barely above a whisper.
Ashpelt nodded "he did. Though it turns out that the loner was planning an attack. Flamepaw found he was actually a rogue leader, and he begged to join their group. The loner stated 'clan blood is to weak for my group. If you wish to join you must fight' and he attacked Flamepaw. The rogue beat Flamepaw and instead of letting him go, he told the group to kill him" he meowed grimly.
Sunkit pushed closer to Ashpelt, " No!", she cried. She knew that Flamestar survived, but she was becoming caught up in the story.
Ashpelt nuzzled Sunkit warmly, and noticed Bramblekit was looking up at him in astonishment. He purred and continued the story "before any of the cats could attack, Tigerpelt jumped into the clearing and fought a few rogues off. She tackled the loner to the ground, and snarled. 'Leave Flamepaw alone, or next time I fight for my friend you will regret it' the rogues fled, and Flamepaw followed Tigerpelt home. He vowed to be a strong, and loyal warrior of the clan." He finished the story kindly.
Sunkit thought about what she heard for a moment. " Its so amazing that Flamestar became leader after leaving the clan like that, " she said. " He must really be our strongest warrior,"
Ashpelt nodded "well he had Tigerpelt to teach him. He also had Featherstar to make him the leader he is today"
Sunkit nodded, wishing she got the chance to know these strong cats of the past. " How did Flamestar become leader?" she asked, not quite wanting story time to be over yet.
"Flamestar became the deputy the same day Tigerpelt died. You see the day Tigerpelt died was the day we had a terrible storm. The hunting patrol was out, and Russetleaf was leading it. She passed when a rockfall, caused by a fallen tree, crushed her" he meowed sadly. The warrior shook his head to clear it as he remembered the terrible storm. "Flamestar had an apprentice before me, but she died in that storm too. Featherstar thought Flamestar would be the best cat to pull the clan together and he was"
Dawnpelt watched as the warriors went to work re-mossing their den and smirked. I knew that would happen..., she thought, warmed by the image of Duskwind gathering his own moss. She had watched the Pineclan cats leave earlier, mildly worried by their absence. It's fine. Everything will be fine, she reassured herself. Desertclan is strong. She looked towards the elder's den, where there was now a sole inhabitant, sound asleep. Dawnpelt sighed, and figured she would try to talk to the loner tomorrow, before he wandered off.
Sunkit's ears dropped slightly, thinking of all warriors who were lost. She wondered if she too would have to see her friends die, and she moved closer to Bramblekit. [i]I won't let that happen,[i] she thought.
Ashpelt licked Sunkit on the ear. "It'll be fine. We see everyone we lose in StarClan when we pass and medicine cats get to share tongues with StarClan every half moon" he meowed reassuringly.
Sunkit looked at Ashpelt with an oddly serious look for a kit. " It's not the same as when they are alive, " she mewed.
Ashpelt was taken aback by Sunkit's tone. "Well no it's not the same as if they were alive, but we will see them again when we join StarClan" he mewed gently.
Sunkit nodded, but felt weird. Starclan..., she thought, her mind filling with the images of ghostly cats with pelts dappled with stars. She looked out of the nursery, where the first stars were appearing in the darkening sky. " Don't we have to finish cleaning the warrior's den?" she asked Ashpelt, in a dreamy tone.
Ashpelt looked out the nursery's exit. "I think Fallentree already got it" he mewled gently, and licked Sunkit between the ears. Bramblekit was already asleep next to his sister. "Get some rest for now. I'll see you two in the morning" he said gently.
