Dawnpelt followed Mudfeather out of the bramble tunnel and into the forest. The bird calls were still echoing through the trees and the patrol headed towards the turtle rock. Dawnpelt heard leaves rustling nearby, her ear twitching at the sound. Perhaps a mouse..., she thought. She didn't want to stop to hunt just yet, however, and continued forward.

Mudfeather heard the noise to. She parted her jaws to see if she could catch the scent of mouse. Hawkpool followed behind the patrol silently.

Dawnpelt glanced at Mudfeather, as she continued on. The turtle rock soon came into view, as Dawnpelt entered the clearing. She marked her scent at the border, and climbed the rock to get a good look around the area. She didn't climb the rock to it's peak, feeling that was reserved for leaders, and stood at a lower ledge. She listened to the sounds of the forest, her ears pricked for anything unusual.


Duskwind was slightly roused by movement in the den and blinked one eye open. Ugh, mornings..., he thought begrudgingly, and shifted his position so he was facing the back of the den.

Mudfeather began to Mark a few trees nearby. Hawkpool parted her jaws and picked up the scent of a fox. It was stale at first, and she continued to walk along the border. She then saw a flash of orange running towards Dawnelt. "Watch out!" She meowed in shock, and tackled the fox knocking it off course.

Dawnpelt looked in shock as she leapt from the turtle rock to help Hawkpool. Her tail lashing, she ran to the fox with a yowl escaping from her mouth.

Mudfeather looked up and jumped into battle. She lashed out at the fox. The fox then yelped and went in to bite. Hawkpool growled and lashed a paw hitting the fox's muzzle. The fox looked around wildly at the three cats.

Dawnpelt hissed as she took a step towards the fox, " We need to chase it away! Preferably not towards Pineclan or our own camp, " she yowled to her patrol as she swatted threateningly at the Fox.

Hawkpool nodded and jumped back as the fox leapt at the cats. It was yipping angrily as it was outnumbered. The PineClan warrior then bit the fox's tail. It ran towards the mountain. "Chase it towards the moor land" she yowled and pointed to no clan territory.

Dawnpelt darted between the mountain and the fox, hissing angrily, her ears flattened to her head. She swatted a its flank, scratching through its fur. " Herd it in the right direction! " she yowled to her patrol.

The fox yipped and darted back. It then growled at the three cats and ran to the mountains once more. Hawkpool and Mudfeather then ran at the fox driving it away from the clan territories it then ran off in the direction of the moor to escape the cats.

Dawnpelt watched the fox flip away into the moors, her fur still bristled, until she could see the last of its white tipped tail disappear in the tall grasses. " Thank you Hawkpool, " she said after catching her breath. " That was quick thinking, "

Hawkpool nodded and licked her paw. She drew it over a wound on her ear. "No problem" she meowed evenly and went onwards for the patrol.

Ashpelt grunted as Duskwind woke up. He looked over to the warrior groggily and got to his paws.

Dawnpelt got to her paws, licking down her fur. " We should probably check out where the fox was living, to be sure it was the only one, " She meowed, looking to Mudfeather and Hawkpool, " Let's head back to turtle rock, and investigate." Dawnpelt signaled with her tail as she walked in the direction they had come. Dawnpelt entered the clearing with the rock and scented for the fox.

Hawkpool nodded and sniffed around. She went back to where the fox leapt at her. She looked around for a den but didn't find anything. "I think it was just passing through" she mewled quickly. "I can't see anything..."

Dawnpelt also tried to follow then scent of the fox to a possible den, but the scent didn't appear to lead anywhere. " Well, I'll make sure the next patrol is aware of this, just in case. Let us proceed, " she mewed, and she turned in the direction of the two leg place. That's just what we need - a possible threat of fox along with the rogue cats, Dawnpelt thought to herself. She led her patrol towards the east, the morning sun casting bright rays through the trees. Before long, she could see the two leg nests, their strange straight and orderly walls standing out against a line of trees. Dawnpelt kept to the forest, keeping the twoleg place to her left, and padded through the trees. The scent of the thunder paths wafted to her nose, as she kept all her senses alert.


Duskwind stirred and stretched to his feet, yawning dramatically. The back of warrior's den offered him the respite from the morning sun, but also left him chilled. He stepped out in front of the warrior's den and found a sunbeam that came through the trees and rested their for a moment as he warmed his fur.

Hawkpool and Mudfeather nodded. The two of them continued behind Dawnpelt. Hawkpool looked around the territory as they walked.

A holly bush brushed Dawnpelt's fur as she walked past it, pacing along through the foliage. Her fur suddenly stood on end, and she felt as if someone was watching her. Dawnpelt froze, flicking her ears, discerning the sounds of the forest from each other. She turned towards the twoleg place, and saw a ragged, grey cat perched on a fence surrounding a twoleg nest. The strange cat's eyes were narrowed as they stared at the Desertclan patrol. A rogue!, Dawnpelt thought, but said nothing, only returning the grey cat's gaze. After a moment, the ragged, grey cat stood up, and leapt down from the fence on the opposite side, out of sight.

Mudfeather looked over to the fence to see the rogue's tail disappearing. "I'll go investigate of you want" she whispered to the deputy kindly.

" No, " Dawnpelt mewed, " It would be unwise to follow one of them alone. We don't know enough about the rogue cats." But I do want to know more..., Dawnpelt pondered as she stared at the spot where the grey cat had perched. Dawnpelt flicked her tail signaling that they continue walking, " We will investigate that place, but with more warriors, and a plan," she mewed to Mudfeather. Dawnpelt lead their patrol further along, finally moving past the two leg place. The air smelled better here, Dawnpelt felt, as the sight of the desert loomed ahead in the distance.

Mudfeather nodded and continued through the forest behind Dawnpelt. She glanced over her shoulder and saw Hawkpool behind the patrol. Walking silently with her tail stiff as if she were stalking prey. She kept silent as she followed the patrol.
