"Yeah, that's it," Lan said, "Now pick up the pace please, we're
gonna want to get there before most people go to bed. We still have
to return this bell to their owner."
Sam nodded, and continued on ahead. She glanced at Lan, and Rick
before turning to Salem. "So why do you need to return the bell
anyway?" she asked kindly. "Did the owner let you borrow it?"
Rick was now very convinced that something was up with this litten.
There was something about her that was... familiar, in an
off-putting way. "Hurry up you two!" Lan called out from down the
road, "Do you want to have food tonight? If so, you'd better
hurry!"
Sam looked up, and ran past Rick. She followed Lan into town. Not
saying a word as she ran, she saw a shiny Poliwag walking past
them. He was holding a box in his arms.
(what arms XD)
"Oh shoot not the food!" Rick exclaimed as he dashed after Lan. He
waved at the poliwag as he passed them, but otherwise caught up to
Lan in only a few moments. It was times like this he loved his
ability swift swim.
Sam nodded a greeting to the Poliwag, and continued after Lan, and
Rick. "Where is the owner?" she panted. She was out of breath as
the water slowed her down a bit.
Rick and Lan stopped, and turned to face each other."Where was it again?" Rick murmured to Lan.
"I don't know! Didn't you have the
paper with the address in the bag?" Rick began searching
through the knapsack he wore, which seemed to be filled with
berries, seeds, and random pieces of paper. "Did you lose it again?" Lan whispered.
"No shut up it's here
somewhere......." Rick dug frantically is his bag until he
held up a piece of paper with a grin. "Got it!" he exclaimed. Lan
sighed, and took the paper. "This way," he said as he began walking
toward an area filled with houses.
Sam tilted her head. Shaking her head she followed Lan, and looked
ahead at the houses. They look different from the houses I see
back home she thought to herself, but shook the thought away,
and continued ahead. She decided not to speak in case her comment
about the houses was an odd one.
(making fake ppl self-conscious since 2014 ;D)
Lan walked up to a house covered in greenery, with Rick in tow.
"Yep, this is the address," Lan said, and knocked on the door.
"Hello?" a bellossom called as she opened the door. "Can I hel- OH!
You must be the team who accepted my request!" Lan put on a smile.
"Yep! Sorry for being a little late. We got... sidetracked."
"Anywho, here's your bell, in perfect condition." Lan handed over
the bell, which he had been covering from the rain. "Thank you
sooooo much," She said, and turned to the inside of the house.
"Oliver! These explorers found your bell!" she said. A small oddish
ran to the door with a big innocent smile on his face. "Thank you
sirs!" Oliver said as he did a little bow. Rick gave a friendly
wave. Oliver ran back inside, balancing the bell on his head, and
the bellossom gave a sweet smile. "Oh! Here is payment as I posted,
and a few extra coins for keeping it out of the rain." She handed a
small pouch of coins to Lan, and gave a friendly wave. "You take
care!" the bellossom said. "Have a great day!" Rick said as him and
Lan walked back to the road.
Sam was still behind them, she looked back to the house. "So you
two are part of a mystery team?" She asked suddenly, and flicked an
ear. She was trying to get to know her surroundings and this
strange world a bit better.
"Not really what it's called... but yeah, kinda." Rick said. He
grabbed the small pouch of money from Lan, and started counting the
coins. He seemed deep in thought."........................... about 73 percent's
enough for food... might as well keep other 7 percent for spending
money.......... rest of it in the bank... Okay!" Rick took
most of the coins and put them in a small coin pouch, and left the
rest in the original pouch. "Okay, what do you want for dinner?"
"There's not that much here in the way of restaurants anyways," Lan
said, "Let's just go to Fennel's. I don't thing we need anything
extra expensive today." Rick nodded in agreement. "Yeah, also
Fennel makes amazing pancakes." Rick began to drool a little at his
fantasizing of Fennel's delicious pancakes.
Sam nodded "alright that sounds good" she said softly. She followed
Lan, and Rick to Fennel's. At least pancakes are something I've
eaten before... she thought to herself, and stifled a sigh of
relief. I didn't want to be strange about the types of food
here. Because these two have been kind to me so far. she
continued silently.
Rick, now in the front of the party, led the group to Salem's town
square, where many shops lined the edge of a perfect circle, with a
statue of an audino in the center. At first, it seemed like an
ordinary audino, but on closer inspection, its fur patterns were
more rigid, and it had two gleaming gems for eyes, one blue and one
green. Rick led the group past the statue, to a rather large
building that had white scarf-like decals on the outside. The door
was easily three times the size of Rick and Lan, and six times that
for Sam(it must be weird for Sam to have ppl twice her size,
especially since Rick and Lan are both about 2ft tall). However,
the door seemed to push open without a handle, so it wasn't a
problem. Above the door was a sign that simply displayed the word
"Fennel's," written in a stylized serif font.
