Freak Show (rp)
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Freak Show (rp)It was the night after a show, the staff had gone to bed and the 'freaks' had been locked away in their cages for the night. Despite being inside, it was still very cold (cold enough that they could see their breath) - they had nothing but a bed of straw and their clothes. The trailer, holding them, was dimly lit by a few candles, their flames fluttering.
It was also the last show of the week. Being a traveling circus, they moved very frequently. One reason was for money. The second reason was to hide the abuse. The only positive thing about being in the circus was being able to see the world.
But was it worth it? The suffering, just to see beautiful places? What if they could, somehow, run away, and still see all these places?
Shift (also known as Brylea) sat with her knees to her chest, whilst her arms were securely wrapped around them. She said absolutely nothing. Nothing was stopping her from leaving, except the guilt that would come to her as soon as she did. "And how do you even file a lawsuit? You would need information beforehand to do that," she wondered aloud.
"I-"
"You did everything just right." Pierre had only recently suffered a beating, with his ears being ripped at, and his left eye being forcibly gouged out. It was brutal to witness, with Oliver being right there, but they had to be strong. They were trapped together, so it wasn't terrible.
At this time, young Lauren Amiya was listening in on the conversation. She had by now given up on hope. Not like this place was even better than home. At least she would be noticed for her successes, even if not by those she loves. She nudged her glasses gently, wishing more than anything that she could suffer for them.
She heard the quiet, "I know. I know.", "I-", "You did everything just right." from Oliver and Pierre. She felt bad for the two. They were as close as brothers, but they're stuck here! She stared at her bruised wrists and sighed. It's better me than them but...
