When animals die, do you ever wonder where they go? What if I told you, that they are the ones causing you the stupid mistakes you make?
The animals you love are not gone, they are just invisible for the human eye. They are ghosts, like in the spooky ol' movies.
Meet Luffy. A Golden Retriever, with alot of her mind. She lived with her owner Molly, and was really happy. One day, something tragic happened that may have happened to you before. What happens now?
Luffy sat and chewed on one of those plastic rings, she enjoyed so much. She tilted up on the back, looking at the bright sky. She caught something in her ear. It was about Molly, wanting to go for a walk. She had gotten permission from the tall humans, and were ready to go. Luffy got up and smiled at Molly, causing Molly to laugh and pet Luffy on the back. She put the leash on, and went for a walk in the city. Molly was on her mobile, with Luffy on the other hand. Luffy's tail swayed back and fourth peacefully. When they reached the road, Molly didn't stop. Luffy looked in shock, as a moving machine was heading their way, in full power. Luffy pushed Molly out of the way, causing her to fall on the other side on the road. In safety. Luffy began to run over to Molly, but the moving machine was faster. Bunk!
Luffy opened her eyes, seeing an all white room for her. "Where am I?", she asked and headed her face towards the animal behind the desk. She walked towards it, being a little aggressive when it turned out to be an owl. "Welcome, you're Luffy right?", the owl asked her with a little chuckle. Luffy tilted her head and nodded in respect. The owl was wise. "Welcome to your afterlife!", the owl said. "I'm Palufa, and I was chosen to introduce you to this world. I am your guide, thereby being your soulmate. Check your necklace." Luffy looked at a little heart hanging from her neck. She took it in her paws. "Luffy - Golden Retriever. Soulmate - Palufa." it stood with white text. Luffy gulped, trying to sink all the information in she just got. Palufa took her paw, greeting her with a big smile. How could owls smile?
Palufa had opened a door, leading them to a familiar place. Luffy and Molly had visited this place before, but now the moving machines just drived through Palufa and herself, not damaging them. "We are in New York if you are wondering. I will be following you. But if you ever get away from me, please note that you can feel any pain I feel and vice versa." Palufa informed with a tired voice, like she had taken power to summon that door. Luffy's tail swung back and fourth again, and Luffy began to run away. Straight forward, and they would probably meet other animals. Luffy was a ghost, so maybe she could see other ghost animals? Luffy ran into a human, causing them to trip. It was a child, and they cried. Palufa finally caught up and saw Luffy's mistake. "Be careful, Luffy. Your impact on humans can have a bigger effect than you think.", she said in a wise tone. Luffy was amazed by her soulmate's wisdom, but asked a bigger question: "Where should we go?" Palufa shrugged and landed on Luffy's back. "Everywhere you want to." Luffy began to run, with no fear anymore.
"Oh, 'ello.", the cat greeted with a dark and mysterious voice, making Palufa in suprise with it's looks. The badger behind the cat kept silent, like it was scared of them. The cat looked behind it, seeing the badger shaking. "Don't worry, Hero. These kiddos ain't getting no one scared.", the cat laughed after it's sentence, and the badger supposely named Hero got cheered up by the laugh. Soon they both laughed, but the cat stopped. Hero followed the same moves as the cat. Was the cat, Hero's soulmate? The cat bowed to Luffy and Palufa. "Name's Scruffy, don't forget it.", Scruffy informed them with a sneaky grin, like they fell in his trap. Scruffy pointed to Hero, who waved nervously. "This is my soulmate, Hero. She's a nervous one, ya see?", Scruffy said with his eyes closed in wisdom. Hero seemed a little offended, but smiled it off. She really was nervous, but Luffy ignored it and just took out her paw to greet. Hero did not do the same, so she took her paw back to herself.
Palufa just smiled and introduced Luffy and herself. "Nice to meet ya." Scruffy said with still the dark tone, but just a tad friendlier. Scruffy went off from the container, and stared into the road. "Ugh, roads are just bad.", Scruffy exclaimed and tried to smile, but it came off as just a sad false one. Hero came down to Scruffy and put a paw on his shoulder. "What happened?", Palufa asked curiously. Scruffy brushed it off, and just answered with a cold, "Nevermind."
Luffy thought of the road, but got immediate headpain when she thought about it. She took to her head, squeeling a bit. "What's wrong?", Hero asked with a light and soft voice, that was worth the wait to hear. Luffy shook her head, when she stopped thinking about it. "I don't know, I just thought about something..", Luffy said soft and careful. She thought her voice had dissappeared, but it had not. It was still there, supporting Luffy to speak out her opinions. Her opinions were always the same with Molly's, as she had to support Molly in everything. Luffy suddenly got the headpain, but really pushed it to think about Molly. Molly in her summer dress, having treats in her hand. Luffy with her side, eating the treats. Tail swinging back and fourth, sometimes touching the dress. Luffy got tears in her eyes, causing home sick. Palufa guessed her problem. "Oh, your human. Their gonna be okay. I saw the situation in the white room before you appeared. Molly cried a bit, but they burried you. She is okay. You saved her.", Palufa said laying a hand on Luffy's back. Luffy still had headpain, but looked up in the sky. Molly was okay. She saved her.
Scruffy went through the door, and they arrived in a very beautiful city. "Is this, Sweden?", Hero asked silently, with her little squeeky voice. It could vary from beautiful, to annoying. Luffy had caught that already. Scruffy nodded to Hero's question. "Ya, and here is where we will find 'em.", Scruffy said and walked ahead. Luffy looked down at a newspaper on the ground. 'JAPANESE NINJA CAUGHT EATING RAMEN' there stood with wide letters. Palufa noticed it, and tilted her head. "Humans get too confusing, sometimes.", she explained to Luffy who agreed. Was what a Ninja? Was it those flying robots fighting with a sword? Luffy was confused with all of this, but tried to pay attention to Scruffy.
They walked around in a lost pizzaria, and it was a goldmine for Luffy. So many smells, it was heaven! Oh wait. Hero found something behind the desk, a rotten piece of ham, just laying there. Hero picked it up, but got interrupted, "Hey!" Hero fell on the ground in shock, and got soon up by Scruffy running over to her. A fox stood with the desk, a young one. It took the ham in it's mouth, and ate it whole. Hero held her paws for her mouth. It was clear that she was about to throw up, but didn't to be polite. The fox looked at her weirdly. "What? I just ate my leftover skinka!", the fox exclaimed and looked mad. A figure behind the fox took the fox on it's back. The figure was a goat. "Never do that, you could get sick.", the goat informed the fox calmly. The fox bounced on the desk again. "But I'm already dead!", the fox screamed. The goat still remained calm, and simply answered the fox, "You should still be careful." Scruffy stepped on the desk, and lifted Hero up to him. Luffy got up to the desk as well, but got down. It was too thin for her paws. Palufa landed on the goat, who said nothing. "Hello Murray! This is Luffy and Palufa.", Scruffy greeted and broke the tension. Cats weren't that stupid, afterall.
"Nice to meet you too. My name is Murray, and this is my little buddy Spencer." The goat greeted and yawned suddenly. The fox who was supposely named Spencer, tried to get him awake. "You just slept, Murray! Wake up!", Spencer said and bounced up on Murray's head. Murray laughed, "Alright, alright." Was he faking the sleep to annoy Spencer?
Spencer looked over at Luffy. "So, now that we know eachother.. Shouldn't we, y'know, do something?", he said and tilted his head in boredom. He was right, they should probably do something. Scruffy was quicker than Luffy, and answered, "I got you two, because I saw an announce in the humans paper things. They are holding a party, and why will there be a party, without chaos?" Scruffy was quick, and Luffy was beginning to think Scruffy had planned her doom already. Wasn't cat and dog the worst of enemies? Why was Scruffy so nice to her then?
Luffy saw the human from before taking in something as a liquid. Murray seemed to notice Luffy was there, and walked over to her. "It's a very bad things humans do, so we have to stop it.", Murray said and ran up to the human. He kicked the bottle out of their hands, and watched them scream like a little girl. "Easy." Murray exclaimed and went downstairs. Luffy followed after him, curious of what he would do next. Murray saw another person who looked like they were up to no good. Luffy tried to run in and do as Murray did, but failed. The person launched into a table, coughing badly. The person's friend tried to support them. Murray walked up to Luffy, shaking his head. "You got to be more careful. We effect humans, sure. But the way we use our effection should be good.", Murray informed the sad Luffy trying to make the world a better place. "Oh yeah, where's Spencer?", Luffy asked Murray. Murray looked around, and shook his head. "Probably off to somewhere we should not know." Murray answered.
Luffy thought it was suspicious that no other animal was at the club. Could someone have done something? Luffy shook her head lightly. No one could harm the other animals, all animals were dead anyways! They should have realised their mistake when they died.
Luffy looked at Palufa, and tipped her a little to get her attention. "Ay, where is home?", Luffy said. She normally did not say ay, but this time it just suited it. Palufa shrugged her shoulders. "Anywhere you want to call home. I will call it home too, as I will want to stay with my soulmate." Palufa replied. Luffy nodded, and investigated. The others had went back to their home, and said they would meet again soon. Palufa talked about she had plans with them, where Luffy should be home. If they had a home.
Luffy found a little shed, and it looked like no one lived there. "There! Found it!", Luffy exclaimed and looked at Palufa for a yay. Palufa looked sceptical at Luffy. "T-The shed ?", she asked. Luffy waved with her paw, and ran into the shed. The shed was in good contidition, and did not seem to have any trouble with it. Luffy leaned against the carpet found on the shed. There were many tools, a table with tools, and then a big carpet. Palufa came in an sat on the carpet with Luffy. The shed had one window, above the table with the big hammers. Palufa laid down on the carpet, leaning her head on Luffy's fur. Luffy did not care, as it did not hurt her in any way. Palufa seemed like Molly, just a bit. Molly had a brown like fur too, but she taught Luffy that it was called hair. It was only on her head, which Luffy did not understand. Palufa did look a little like Molly, but just in a feathered owl way.
Luffy felt Palufa fall asleep. Luffy did not move, and just stared out of the window. A smile lurked across Luffy's face, and her head dropped to the ground slowly. A little grunt came out of Luffy, shortly after she fell asleep. Dead animals could sleep, afterall.
Luffy looked at Palufa, who did not seem interested at anything. She was just looking up close to the window, probably hurting her own eyes. "Hey Palufa?", Luffy asked. Palufa's head turned to Luffy, where they made eye contact. A little answer came out of her beak, "Yes?" Luffy stood up on her front legs, who were clean. Yesterday they were muddy, but she must've gotten them clean from the carpet she slept on. "How did you die?", Luffy asked with a cheery and innocent voice. When she saw Palufa's reaction, she dropped her vibe she had before. Palufa took some courage to herself, and looked directly at Luffy. She had crossed her wings, like a stand off attitude. Luffy was right, it was not good to just talk about it so soon. Where there any personal reasons behind Palufa's sudden chock?
Palufa began to speak up, but not the exact response Luffy wanted, "For another time, Luffy." She closed the case there, as a sign that Luffy should not dig deeper into the past. Luffy had a dream about Molly last night, but had trouble remembering it without pain. It seemed like all animals not experienced with their death long enough, had pain remembering the event. Luffy think it was clever, but still wanted to let Molly live on in her brain.
Palufa opened the door from the shed. "I have to go, Luffy. You know, with the others.", Luffy had completely forgot about that. "You are alone, so please don't get in any pain as I will feel it too." Palufa flied away, probably not wanting to use her teleport. Clever, Palufa.
"Hey hey!!", the creature chirped and brushed off the remaining grass of it's wings. It was a bird of some kind, but what? Luffy had never seen such a energitic and small creature before. Luffy asked the little creature quietly, "Who are you?" the little creature look offended, but said nothing. It just tipped it's little head. "I am Hootins, the greatest hummingbird of all time!!", Hootins chirped happily. A hummingbird? Was that some kind of bird, that Luffy just found out about? Why had Molly not taught Luffy about birds? Hmm, maybe she was scared of birds.. That's why she always laughed when Luffy walked into a horde of birds and scared them away. Luffy was the one protecting Molly, against those nasty birds. Spreading their food everwhere, they had no manners!
Luffy had introduced herself to Hootins, and he accepted her. "As we now know eachother, you should meet Knux!!", Hootins chirped. He seemed younger than Luffy, but she still liked being around him.
They walked in on an unnatural forest. It was full of close air, that you almost couldn't breathe in, and smoke. Alot of smoke. Hootins spoke, "Well, this is the forest that only animals can see. It's made so the animals that live in the forest, can live here and don't be homesick." Luffy had no idea what this had to do with someone named Knux, but followed Hootins when he flew deeper into the forest.
They saw a huge boulder, with a cave on the right side, so you couldn't see it in the blind eye. But Hootins knew where it was, and flew right in. Luffy ran after, suprised of the little birds speed. Hootins chirped happily to the big fluff laying in the corner, "Knux, wake up!" the big creature got up. With small eyes, and a menacing face. It was a bear! Luffy saw it had some letters on the side of it. "K-N-U-X" it stood with wide letters. The bear, assumed to be Knux, took it's glasses on. Why would a bear wear human accesories? But Knux didn't seem to care, that it looked stupid. It was just Knux, a big bear who could do what they wanted.
